Bro, do you even medicine?

The Eternal Queen
Feena yawned loudly and stretched as the sun inched it's way over the horizon. Before dawn. always before dawn. Why did she do this to herself? Well, it did make the most sense. This way she got the most out of her day light. When teaching a new student, it was important to have enough time to complete each lesson. Healing was an art. If one did not properly learn, then the results could be uneffective at best and down right deadly at worst.

The Master healer walked inside the medical tent she had prepared, sorting through her list, laying tools and materials out, and just generally being picky about every detail possible. It had to be prefect, from her crisp white medical jacket, to her tight black bun, nothing was out of place. perfect.
And that was how today was going to go.

Jala had a great feeling about the day to come. The light of the Mother flowed through Jala as if it were her own blood. Today was a day of learning. Jala was eager to expand her knowledge on the Force. Especially since her teacher was the renown Feena Mason. She was a bit starstruck to have such a teacher passing on her knowledge to her.

Jala managed to find the medical tent Feena had set up for the two. Jala was wearing her 'stolen' set of Templar Armor with her coolth suit beneath, keeping her nice and cold. "Good morning, Lady Feena." Jala greeted with a bow and friendly smile. "I greatly appreciate you taking time out of your life to teach me." Jala was truly grateful for Feena educating her. Now Jala would gain the potential to be a brilliant healer herself.

Feena nearly jumped at the sound of the girl arriving.
"Oh! Yes, well, come in. Come in. Teaching is what I do, Dear."

She supressed a yawn again and straightened a scalpel so that it was facing up perfectly and was exactly three inches away from the other tools of both sides. Yes. Perfect.

"Take a seat," she motioned to a metal-topped table and a stool, "First, before we begin, I need to know what you already learned. Everything you can think of. It could very well make the difference here in how I teach you."

Jala smiled as she walked further into the tent and took a seat before Feena. She crossed one leg over the other and placed eye contact upon her teacher. "And learning is what I do, Lady Feena."

Jala took a moment to think about what she already knew. It wasn't much, so it didn't take long. Took even a shorter time to narrow down her knowledge to just healing. "Well, I know a few good painkillers, I can create a decent cast, I'm okay at Force healing, not the best, but I can heal a thing or two with enough effort. Not much else, really." she answered.

Feena leaned against the side of the table and sighed.

"Okay. So you have the basics down. You have the general idea. And what about human anatomy? Quite familiar? Need I explain cell structure? Are you familiar with any other sentient species?"

[member="Jala Rekab"]

"Well," Jala began, pondering for a moment before continuing. Her eyes rolled around as she thought about her answer. "I'd say I'm familiar with human anatomy." she finally answered. "As for cell structure, if you were to give me a pop quiz on it right now, I'd get at least an 80." Jala sounded a little cocky at that moment. "Most other species. Mostly Near-humans. I know a little something about others. Nothing extensive."

And at that, Feena was satisfied. She let out the breath that she was holding slowly, then straightened up and smiled.

"I'm glad to hear it. This will make teaching much easier because I won't need to teach you the basics."

One hand reached out for that scalpel she had only just minutes ago arranged so neatly on the table. She held it up, inspected it again, and in one swift movement, sliced a shallow cut on her forearm. It took a second, but blood welled up on the wound.

"Heal me," she instructed simply, "I need to see how you work."

"No ma'am you surely will not." Jala smiled.

Jala jumped as Feena blatantly cut her arm with the scalpel. She wasn't expecting something like that to be how learning would be, but she acted. "Yes ma'am." she replied. Jala stood from her seat and looked around the tent. Her eyes locked on some antiseptic wipes. Quickly, she grabbed them and began wiping down Feena's arm, effectively cleaning the blood off the wound and disinfecting it. "Nice and clean. Now let's cover that up, eh?" Jala suggested. She grabbed a strand of gauze and wrapped it around her arm, tight enough to stop the bleeding, but not cut off circulation. "All patched up. How was that, m'lady?" Jala asked in confidence.

Feena watched. Carefully. She would have spoken up, stopped her, but she had done nothing wrong. In fact, it was rather careful, well executed. Save for one thing.

"Simple. Clean. Effective. You did what you should do, however," she touched the bandage and carefully started unrolling it from her arm, "Now I want to see how you heal it, not just treat it."

"Yes ma'am." Jala lifted her hands to the wound and focused on it. Calming, peaceful thoughts ran through her head. The light was flowing through her and it's power went to her hands as she utilized the Force to heal Feena's wound. Her eyes were shut to focus even more on the calming thoughts that would help her heal the wound.

Feena watched once again, bright silver eyes never leaving the young woman. Her skill here was something to start with.

"Focus," Feena carefully instructed, "Imagine each cell dividing to replace the damaged ones. Imagine the flesh stitching itself back together. It's only a flesh wound. This is simple."

Soon, she would get to the more complicated things. Like drawing out poison, mending a broken bone, and even forcing the body to fight infection and disease. The Force could heal in so many more ways that just healing the flesh.

Jala nodded slowly. She took her advice well and continued to focus on the wound. In her mind, she did her best to picture the wound healing beneath her hands. Her hands began to glow a light blue as the Force built up in her hands, healing the wound. "I think I'm doing it.." she uttered. "I can feel it."

Beneath the girls fingers, Feena could feel her wound stitching itself together.

"Very good," Feena commented, pulling her arm away once she was done to inspect it, "Well done indeed. I think I have a better idea of how you work now."

The flesh was smooth again, as if there had been no wound at all. Well, to be honest, that was easy enough with such a shallow wound. Were it deeper, or were there more damage to the tissue around it, there might be a scar.

"Now. Has anyone showed you how to mend bone?"

[member="Jala Rekab"]

Jala was lightly weary, but she felt good for accomplishing the task. "Thank you, m'lady." Jala said graciously. "Thank you." she said once again. Jala smiled as she saw the fruit of her work on the healed wound. She was starting feeling hopeful.

"Bone?" Jala asked. "Um, no. Not bone, m'lady." she said, shaking her head frantically.

"I can make a cast, but mending it? Never even tried. Didn't think I was good enough to even attempt it."

Feena nodded in understanding. Mending bone was tricky. If done wrong, the results could be, well, mortifying. And there was no room to practice safely. One just had to work on theory and absolutely make no mistakes. Ever. Perhaps if she wished to learn, but for now, Feena was willing to move on.

"What is it exactly that you want to learn?"

[member="Jala Rekab"]

"Well, nothing in particular, m'lady." In truth, Jala did not know what she wanted to learn. Well, couldn't narrow it down to be exact. There was much she wanted to learn about the art of healing. "I am willing to learn anything you are willing to teach." she added. "I am pretty much an empty slate beyond anything basic so..yeah."

Feena thought for a moment. She'd spent so long teaching, but at the same time, with something like this, you had to change your methods with every student.

"How do you feel about learning poison extraction?"
