Brunch.

Preliat leaned back in the chair, the gentle wind shifting his long mohawk slightly. He had changed in the few months that he and Aditya hadn't talked, and he genuinely enjoyed the woman's company, so it wasn't exactly hard for him to call her up for a quick bite to eat and a nice conversation. He had reserved (scared) a nice balcony on Coruscant, overlooking the landscape. It was sunset, and they were facing parallel to the sun, so while they could turn and watch it, it wouldn't bother their meal with that stupid annoying glare.

The Mandalorian was reading the menu, his gear neatly stored on another party's table. There were some complaints, but honestly - who wants to complain to a Mandalorian Rally Master? Besides, he had a jetpack and they were on a ledge. It'd be pretty funny if he threw someone off and then caught them a while later. He looked up from his menu, Epicanthix eyes meeting another set of Epicanthix eyes.

"Well, you look beautiful as ever."

Coruscant wasn't the type of place Aditya called home, but it was the place she had become more comfortable in doing business. That business had been chaotic at best with the tumult of the Empire and the jackboots of the Republic cramping up old sins and old sainthoods alike. Somewhere in the gloom of her divorce and the disappearance of her ex-husband, his body had been found. The funeral was hastily done and even more hastily forgotten by the up-and-upper engineer. Many months indeed and when @[member="Preliat Mantis"] called Aditya couldn't say no.

It felt good to walk into a place and see everyone in a bother over an Epicanthix Mandalorian taking the lion's share of tables. She grinned and pulled on the sash holding her purple dress together, to make sure it was straight. "Eli, you are…" Aditya shut her lips and her throat worked. It was terrific. She snapped her fingers and the Maitre'd took her chair out for her. She slid in and put her silver clutch on the table top. "Two whiskies, please. On the rocks. . . oh, and Garcon? This is my executive assistant's card. I expect you will call her in forty five minutes precisely and take the message she gives for me. Write it down, deliver it to the table. Thank you." The man's eyes bugged and he pocketed it with a 'Yes Ma'am' before rushing to the bar and whispering angrily at the server who had been scared off.

Properly situated, Aditya turned back to Preliat, holding out her hand across the table. "You are a sight. A terrific sight. It's so good to see you!"

The mandalorian smiled, turning his head to face the setting sun for a moment, before turning back to the woman before him. He now felt suddenly, underdressed, even though his armor was his lifestyle."If I had known you were going to be wearing something so...regal, I would have worn my good armor."He smiled, patting his newly-painted crimson armor. Preliat had moved upwards from lowly soldier to full-fledged Rally Master, and had been at the destruction of Dromund Kaas, among other notable campaigns, most recently, against the One Sith. He tapped his hands together, before the darker-skinned man leaned forward, placing his armored elbows on the table.

He leaned down and with his lightly-scarred lip, kissed the back of her hand. Unlike most warriors, Preliat had escaped the peril of battle, with nothing but a scratch on his lip. Gave him character, at least. He smiled, leaning back in the chair. The chair wasn't exactly agreeing with him, but it didn't break, so, win-win for the two.

"I suppose we have a lot to catch up on, don't we, Miss Amadis?"

Aditya waved her hand in the air, "I came from this meeting thingy. Really? I wish I had a pair of trousers and some boots on. Stomp my way up here and make a party of it." Truth be, the man looked good in his armour. A true Mando was never without it and the ability Preliat had to be himself was more refreshing than the whiskey that came to their table.

As his gruff lip scratched the back of her hand with a kiss, the Epicanthix grinned, her pointed canines as wild as her temper and guts in a gun fight. As her hand released, Aditya gave @[member="Preliat Mantis"]' cheek a quick touch with her thumb. It seemed to be coming back now, the smell of pistol oil and armour weave brought her to the roots of a little girl in her father's mechanic shop on that scruffy outer rim world. She wished for more of it, and looking down saw her barren ring-free hands were too clean to belong to a mechanical engineer. "We do. We do indeed. Drink up me hearty, let's toast battles won and lost, survived nonetheless. How've you been? Tell me all the adventures."

@[member="Aditya Amadis"]

Preliat's facial features formed into a grin, matching the out-of-place-mechanic's grin. His form leaned back in the chair, ignoring the classy nature of the place they were currently in. Preliat turned his head towards the sun again, before picking up his glass of...tea. He had enough to drink for the past few days. Messed up his eating and workout habits if he drank too much. He tapped his hand on the table before speaking after finishing a long sip of the tea with a little umbrella in it.

"Well, I helped blow up Dromund Kaas, I helped destroy the Sith Emperor's throne...I work with the Hutts now...hm..."He tapped his fingers together."I choked out a CIS Dread Guard commando...I fought a Sith Knight...and won."He raised his eyebrows up, pursing his lips in thought, before coming back down."Sorry, I'm just kind of boring."And there was another grin.

"Oh, and I cut my hair."

"The hair cut is definitely the most epic of your accomplishments, Eli." Aditya kept her face level and in a pout for a few seconds before she snorted and started to laugh. "Of course you won! You're @[member="Preliat Mantis"]! If you didn't win and destroy thrones, and blow up Dromund Kaas and fight Sith Knights you'd be some flimsy girl from Naboo prancing around a palace pretending to matter."

Eli might have been tea tootling today, but Aditya looked at the whiskey like a sinner praying for salvation. "Me, well, I usurped two companies, weathered an invasion of the Galactic Empire only to lose the Empire to the threat of the jackbooting Republic and their invasions, got caught up in the Fringe's political landscape and went running because you've got to be some sort of screwed up Sith Lord to make it out of a business meeting alive, um, my husband divorced me then promptly went missing and died, and I started developing a new kind of personal armour and am tinkering in genetic engineering.

It's been rather… boringly involving. Mmmmh. Garcon? Another round." She held up two fingers and went on to the next glass of whiskey. "I kind of took a bit of a holiday to rebuild a classic speeder from the nuts and bolts. Goes like the clappers."

@[member="Aditya Amadis"]

Preliat's eyes glanced upwards, before leaning back in his chair."The Empire...well, one of them, falling was a...great mess wasn't it? But that's your specialty isn't it, Miss Amadis, surviving terrible messes. And as far as the Fringe goes, between you and me, they pay well, but I don't trust them as far as I can throw them."His face turned solemn at the mention of her husband. Divorce was one heartbreak to go through, but to lose that person forever- that was another terrible demon in itself.

"I'm sorry about your husband, Miss Amadis. And...genetic engineering?"Preliat shifted uncomfortably in his seat. Clones, genetically engineered people, set off some alarm bells for the Rally Master. He was nervous about people playing God, but he didn't exactly know where Miss Amadis fit into that category of crazy. He took a sip of his tea, his brown eyes never leaving her face. He was, at least, extremely respectful of the engineer, but he also admired the sort of rugged beauty she had about her.

"I made a rifle."

"I guess it is a particular kind of talent, surviving messes. Hah! Wouldn't you know it? I don't give much trust their way either. Seems they're only interested in the hokey powered folk anyhow. Us regulars don't leave much to their imaginations. I saw them throwing star destroyers at each other. Star Destroyers. From the safety of my bunker, 'course. I'm not that risqué." As his face changed, Aditya tried to put a bit more depth into her smile. Hey! It almost worked!

"Yes. There are a couple genetic diseases cropping up in the Atrisian population I want to shut down. And if along the way that gives us a better grasp on medicine, then I'm all for that. What with the energetic rise in cancer rates to boot, I can't lose good people to something our scientists can fix… does that make me crazy?" She sat back and tapped her fingers on the tabletop. It was a gorgeous view, and the stop in her own speech did enough to let her relax a bit and see it.
"What kind of rifle? Sniper? Assault?" Mechanical things! Oh how the woman did love mechanical things. @[member="Preliat Mantis"]

@[member="Aditya Amadis"]

He noticed the deepening of her smile. She noticed that he had noticed. The diseases part- that was better to hear. He seemed to relax again, become comfortable. Genetic engineering was something that no Mandalorian, at least an honest one, would be comfortable outside of medical practices."No, miss Amadis, wanting to help people, does not seem crazy to me."Preliat smiled when she inquired about the rifle.

"The Mandalorians needed a blaster rifle that wasn't reliant on the Omega Protectorate for munitions, plus, they were a little light for our tastes. I designed the M45 to be...cheap and effective. Bullpup design, heavy-handed stopping power, and a nice carrying handle for easy transportation. It also looks pretty cool too."He smiled and looked upwards. His smile was sort of ruggedly handsme, with his face gaunt from years of warfare and strife, but still held that sort of handsomeness that most warriors possessed.

Seemed brunch was one of those times when people went all over noticing each other notice each other. It felt more honest here than on Atrisia, where the Nobles made a show and theatre of daily living and their words were lathed in a deep settled apathy. "Have to do something with the business."

The Protectorate. Even hearing tell of the OP was enough to put a shiver down the curve of her spine. That area of space… war was more than looming and getting away from it for a while was the best she could hope for. Even if her people were in it. Listen to her. Her people. She had people now? A layer of responsibility over the dancing spacer who flitted to different flowers like a hummingbird looking for choice nectar. Now she was some sort of mother eagle watching over an aerie. Truth be, she didn't think she fit the breeches yet. "Nicely done. What're you making them out of? Electrum? Durasteel? Laminanium? They must pack a considerable wallop, how do you vent the heat off the barrel for continued firing?"

That smile could melt the Beskar'gam off a considerable number of ladies, Aditya reckoned. She pulled a chair over and propped her feet up on it, snorting a timid laugh as the surprised luncheoners scoffed at her un-lady-like behaviour. @[member="Preliat Mantis"]

@[member="Aditya Amadis"]

"Stamped sheet metal, actually. Durasteel is expensive. Rifle may weather a little bit faster, but it definitely can be mass-produced. As far as the ventaliation goes, a lot of the heat comes with large vents above the barrel. Gas is also cycled through those same vents, which, makes it very good at large fire. And it packs a mean punch too, man. Helluva punch. But it's heavy, real heavy. LMG heavy for most troopers- but for Mandalorians? Just the right weight."His brown eyes flickered upwards, a grin that could melt the ice king's heart.

"Forgive me if I seem...abrupt, Miss Amadis, but are you currently back in the dating scene, or is your boyfriend your wrench again?"

"Huh! Would've tried to R&D some thin alloy if I'd've gotten that task. Cost a couple of limbs and a bag of skittles to this one metallurgist who is weird out the back end, but he's brilliant. Lives in a shoe. A Kami-farked giant shoe." Aditya giggled, the popping noise a glad release of the tension of the last few months. "You Mandos go through weapons like I go through wrenches. Always a casualty, it'd better be gear instead of people. The simpler things always do pack a big punch. Big payoff too, don't they Eli? Any chance you have a child's edition, you know, for lil'miss weakling over here?"

She flexed her bicep, long and lean and built by tough labour but it was no Mando arm attached to the ballerina from the Rim. A server came to take their order and Aditya sat ramrod straight. "You know… I've been having such a good time I forgot to look at the menu. I'll have…. that one." She pointed randomly at the menu and shrugged, "Looks good, whatever it is." Snorting out another laugh, Aditya cocked her head to the side,

"Are you planning on sweeping me off my feet and introducing me to Mandalore, @[member="Preliat Mantis"]? Careful, I might say 'carry me away'."

@[member="Aditya Amadis"]

He smiled and folded his hands."Mandalorians were never known for subtle weaponry, Miss Amadis. And I can understand about the...shoe bit, actually. We have this new guy, @[member="Captain Larraq"]. Destroyed Dromund Kaas by dropping asteroids on it...because he felt like it. And no, but...I can recommend some other weapons. Like a stick, for someone more your size, if you'd like."That same smile crept across his features.

Preliat didn't bother to flex, it was rather hard to do so behind a suit of armor and an armorweave flightsuit. Preliat smiled at the waiter, before leaning back in his chair."Steak and salad, please."He was polite to others, he just tended to scare them...a lot. His brown eyes flickered with a hint of mischievousness and a sort of hopeless romantic look."Careful, Miss Amadis. You may be getting me the idea that you wouldn't mind me whisking you away like a three-credit novel, but the look on your face.."He leaned forward slightly."Is giving me the idea that you're looking awfully bored and could use some whisking away."

"Never been to Mandalore. Hitched up to a lot of places, but never Mando space. Weird, I know, but life's been a blast and a half regardless. Y-you can? You can understand the shoe thing? 'Cause I'm still at a loss." Her eyes pop wide, she stutters and snorts, "He threw asteroids at a planet. That … is…. the best thing…. I've ever heard." Kicking one high heel off then the other, Aditya let them flop to the floor and glared at him. "A stick, huh? Might as well stick with a very big wrench."

For her petite size, the girl was a firecracker, well, if anyone'd seen her fight lately. It was nearly comical to watch the server nervously take @[member="Preliat Mantis"]' order, the guy was a teddy bear.

"I'm used to living dangerously. Make it a six-credit novel with a couple of explosions and I'd find it far more fascinating." I lean forward as the server comes back with a plate of appetizers - bacon wrapped steak bites. Aditya flashed her canines and picked up one of the skewers of meat. "Ohhh this chef's good."

She leaned forward, putting her whiskey glass down and smirked wildly, "I hate business politics. It's so utterly redundant and boring. Please, should you feel the vapours, whisk."

@[member="Aditya Amadis"]

Preliat shrugged at her when she mentioned the shoe thing."Creative and talented people, they all have their little quirks. And yeah, the Mythosaur...25 gravity wells or whatever."Preliat's knowledge of ships was shining."Got twenty five 500-meter asteroids, and boom, boom, boom, boom, boom, boom....destroyed it. Dropped it right on the Sith planet after Gil and I blew up the throne room. Luckily they built that Sith fortress...like a fortress."He paused and politely declined the bacon thing. Too much fat, too early.

"Well, you could always come back to Ordo, we could have a picnic on the beach...minus the water. We could have a little picnic, my thirteen brothers and sisters and my mom and pa could meet you...we could make out under the blistering sun, and then you can understand why I left."His brown eyes, flickered upwards back to meet hers. He was fiddling with his hands, his crushgaunts lightly placed on the table, for...politeness."And I think you could do with some whisking, Miss Amadis."

"The Myth-m-" her lips fell open. "Twenty five gravity wells." Her hands went up to her hair, she sat back and shook her head. "That's one way to use what you've got. I'm surprised the planet's still intact… it is, isn't it? How big were those asteroids? Did they give the planet a massive extinction event? Change the gravitational flow of the system? Has anyone scanned the planet's orbit to see where it's going to end up in a thousand years? That is can I meet this guy!? He sounds nuts! Perfectly, wonderfully nuts, oh my gosh I am engineer-geeking out!" The server came with their meals, and Aditya looked down at her plate to see...

Nothing she recognized. There were curly things that looked like vegetables and turned out to be vegetables, lofty tubers, an egg perfectly poached and grain arranged in a beautiful array on her plate. Even culinary life was an adventure! "I'm glad you're safe. Relieved, even. Universe can't lose a guy like you."

Who could say no to bacon? Aditya admitted it was nice to see a guy take care of his mannish figure, but who was she kidding? All she did lately was hit the heavy bag surreptitiously hidden in her office. Down the bacon wrapped meat went chewed and swallowed. Her face stopped moving as she pictured thirteen people of varying ages, a few parental units and a beach with no water. "I'll remember to bring a sun hat to the Desert rendezvous." Curious man, to sniff out and secure a moment of rescue for the woman he'd met and well, rescued twice on another foreign world. All for a hunk of precious metal sitting in her personal laboratory on Atrisia. "You.. you're serious."

The way he fiddled, the way his eyes glanced upward and back down made Aditya picture a nervous boy asking for a favour. Maybe a man like him just needed someone to put in that place of protection to have a reason and impetus to keep the armour on. Was she ready to get whisked off so soon after sending Kei's ashes into the nearest sun? Okay, sending his ashes to get double-immolated had been much fun and ended with cocktails on the promenade, but that was her secret to bear. She'd made the mistake to get carried off by Kei, to let a man rule her heart with little more than a shrug and a 'you'll do'. To be pursued, romanced… "Please, it's Aditya. Keep calling me Miss and Amadis and I'll grow a complex or something. Yes. I'll adventure to Ordo with you, I've never been there and I'm always up for a new experience or three. What makes you think I'd do for some whisking anyway? Is it written on my face? My cavalier attitude to menus and liquid aperitif? Enlighten me, Eli."

@[member="Preliat Mantis"]

@[member="Aditya Amadis"]

Preliat shrugged."Dromund Kaas is no more. No habitable life, mass extinction. Big ball of ice. As far as I know, everyone's been too afraid to even bother scanning it or researching Larraq's deadly tactic on it. Meteor size is out of my knowledge base, you'd have to ask him. I was on the ground with Gil when it happened anyway. He's, also, oddly enough, a nice guy. Scary smart, though."Preliat went for his salad first, lightly touching his greens, and politely placing them into his mouth. He smiled when she spoke about not losing him. He looked upwards, when she said that the universe couldn't lose a man like him. Then again, he had to ask himself, what kind of man was he? "Hats get stuck to your head. Better to wear a shawl."

So, Aditya. Aditya. Not Miss Amadis. Quite a difference. His face lit up when she asked him to call her that. He bit his lip, and lowered his head for a moment, blush forming on his square features. Preliat had relations with women, he was a Null-hockey star, of course there were super model Zeltron girlfriends, but none of it lasted. None of it meant anything besides cuddling and press here and there. He wanted something real, and something clicked with Aditya. And when he looked up to face her, it showed. He wanted romance, he wanted to fall for someone, not meet them and be labelled.

"You uh...could use some whisking away. Can see it on your face. Besides...we could make a little stop to Dromund Kaas."He smiled, gently placing more food into his mouth, chewing it softly."Besides...you owe me. Pirates are mean."

"Oooooohhh there is tons of research to be done on that husk of a planet. Think of all the investigative chemical and physical analyses to be done! Think of all the knowledge to be gained from a cold husk mass extinction! Man, I'd be all over that! A couple of my guys are huge into that sort of science that would be amazing. . . Although I'm kind of more amazed the palace survived with you in it. 'Course it's damned good it did, but what was it made of? Neuranium? Whole thing'd need to be made of Phrik to survive that level of bombardment. Maybe magic… Sith are supposedly tricky that way. I'm talking too much aren't I? I am! Oh gosh, I'm just geeking out and that whole thing is intense."

Bringing out a stylus, she flicked on her digital device and made a few scribbled notes, glancing back up at @[member="Preliat Mantis"]' shifting face. Reminded her of wavering sand dunes, how they would ripple and shudder and follow the push and pull of the wind. Desert boy, it made sense. "Bring…. shawl… rock it like a hurricane…. and reminded! I take notes. Scatterbrained! I'd forget my head if it weren't screwed on fine and dandy. How's your salad? My conglomeration of…. edible things is great."

Had she noticed his face coming alive? She might have, Aditya played the ditz and fool as well as a symphony conductor moved a listening crowd to tears. Was there enough to have her fascinated? How was a woman to find out if she didn't try? Aditya would not waste the best years of her life being prudent when it came to missing chances. Even the wounds were worth their strife for they distilled her. Wasn't that it? "Pirates are mean. I could make an argument for 'but @[member="Preliat Mantis"], that's what I paid you to protect me from, pirates and bad dudes', but that would then lead to the whole me-hefting-your-armoured-backside into the safety of our mining excavation central after you nearly blew yourself up, and then that would skew the line between employee and employer and what happens when a contract closes which my lawyers find a whole lot more interesting than I do 'cause it all just makes my head spin. So instead, I'll tip my proverbial hat to your muscle-bound and armour wearing penchant for surviving exothermic destruction and continue my miscellaneous lunch."

Another fork full made its' way to Aditya's mouth and her lips closed round it, attempting in their merry way not to crack too giddy a smile. What was the harm? What was the harm in anything? When she'd met him, Preliat had been a troubled soldier shaking off the ghostly shackles of the recent past. There had been true trauma in his eyes, and she wondered how far that had effected his soul. If people had souls, which Aditya didn't know. His genuine ability to look at her intently was bringing up the cold glacier and crater. Her eyes softened and stirred, their perilous blackness a genetic abnormality which some had accused her of appearing as an indifferent callous upon her face. As her gaze came closer in, Aditya reached across the table and put her fingers in his nearest hand. "Then whisk. Whisk away and let me repay my debt. Those pirates might have been mean, but you were more than a match for their obtrusive near villainy."

Anything to move her on from the stasis loop she was in, stuck between Atrisia's crumbling facade and the lingering memoir of her sending Kei's battered old ship into the nearest sun. "When shall I schedule my whisking?"

@[member="Aditya Amadis"]

There was a certain look on Preliat's face when Aditya spoke. It was one of pure interest, but at the same time, utter confusement. Preliat was by no means an unintelligent man, but he definitely was not an engineer. He also, zoned out. He blinked several times, before his brain reminded him, that in the midst of that scientific mumbo-jumbo and engineer gargle, she had posed a question to him. He smiled and shook his head."It was the most heavily fortified Sith fortress in the galaxy. Sith magic, phrik, probably some other materials. Doesn't really matter now, it's all a pile of dust and ash. The temple was evil. It was pure evil, it was a swampy mess. And when the Sith came back to reclaim their pile of ash...they lost again. They all ran away. There's nothing there anymore."His hands found themselves resting on the table, and a smile of triumph washed over his features. She was right to a degree, his face was a subtle change. He was stoic, but his eyes held more emotion than his face did most of the time. He laughed when she brought up that's what he was paid for.

"At the time I thought you were doing a favor for your husband and the rest of that Army Of Light nonsense. For such a badass organization, you'd think they'd have a cooler name. Besides, the jetpack made it look cooler than it actually was."He continued to pick at his salad, never taking large bites or put a large quantity of food into his mouth. Then, the unexpected happened. Science reminded Preliat that his somatic sensory system interacted with outside forces, that by activating his touch centers that send neurons upon neurons of information to his head instantaneously, or at least, nearly. But he begged to differ in this instance.

This was straight up magic.

The null hockey star, the Rally Master, the Super Commando, the Mandalorian, none of it really mattered in that span of milliseconds, that drifted slowly into the span of a few seconds. His heart jumped at her touch, his eyes lit up like fireworks. His mouth opened, but only stammered out sounds. How the mighty warrior fell from a simple touch."If you want, when we're done with our meal I can leap off the side of the building with you, skip out paying, and we can ride my jetpack to the spaceport, if you're interested. Or, we could take the long, walking way. Talk a little bit on the way. And as far as scheduling goes....I don't really have any sort of schedule, besides checking in with momma and the clan every day. Brothers love to hear what I do during the day, and I'm sure my momma would love to meet...you."He was about to use another word, but that wouldn't really suffice for the moment. Not yet, anyway. He didn't want to think about how the look in her eyes was almost sympathetic, how she was probably remembering his demons. If she only knew, what still remained.

"Congratulations on defeating the indefatigable fortress. I give you my kudos and a clap." Aditya tapped her fingers together in a soft clap, breaking into a bright and breezy grin. Someone had to get rid of the Sith hub. The smile faded just enough when the Army of Light came up. "I did too. By the time I got back into Atrisian space with the Phrik, Kei had left divorce papers on my desk… then he disappeared. But! I did manage to supply the Army of Light with ships and help where I could. Ended up retrofitting that bruiser of a Star Destroyer Xextos had. The Brunie? Brynjar. That's the one. Blaming your coolness on your toys, eh? I won't buy it, Eli. I do know you are ineffably cool."

And so it was the powerless ballerina slew the dragon-slayer's heart. Aditya's knuckles held the tell-tale mars, scars and marks of a consummate bare knuckle fighter, the skin had sloughed, cut, blistered, repaired over years of abuse and although they were pale and demure as she held @[member="Preliat Mantis"]' hand, it was unquestionable. This woman fought hard, if she fought at all. Her all black eyes peered at his stammering mouth and a bright smile passed across her face. A man tough as nails, defeating uncountable amounts of baddies and horrorifics and he still called him mum. "Would she? I didn't think Mommas liked to meet austere ballerina engineers. She might hate me, you never know… buuut if there's a jetpack involved, I do love a good adventure. It's far more fun than walking."

What was she doing, Aditya thought of the consequences. Would she miss meetings, would her employees be able to handle her being off the grid, would well, knowing them someone would send a bodyguard to check up. Still, the adult in her told her it was foolish, no one romanced no one simply carried someone away. The pure Aditya in her couldn't stand the tedium of every day living and it had been a while since the adrenaline hit her blood. She went back to her food with the anticipation of flying in her eminent mind.
