Bryn'adûl | Bringing Fire

uwwr3Dy.png

The Chieftain of the Bryn'adûl called for the Ish'makra to gather, and the Seers bore news of a hidden settlement, one that harboured the defenders of the weak. The Bryn'adûl's ultimately despised adversary.

Planet Eadu, home to a retrofitted old One Sith research station, now used as a sanctuary for wayward souls in the Kessel Sector. Helmed by what to on-lookers would seem like outcasts from various Force Orders. Yet underneath the garb of frailty hides a growing threat to the Bryn'adûl's march upon the Kessel Sector.

A festering order of Jedi.

They numbered nearly hundred, few Masters and a few dozen Knights numbered among them. Almost all however shared the common horror of warfare. All led astray from the force for some time, redeeming themselves by offering protection to others.

They would fight fiercely, strong and courageous. To the last.

All those who could withhold the Bryn'adûl even temporarily would have to be silenced quickly. Their attack on Kessel Sector would be soon, but first they must weaken her, isolate the remaining holds of human strength and destroy them. Only then, would they be able to take control and establish a powerbase.

The Jedi Temple on Eadu appeared small, but rather was hidden within the black mountains above the city. Their plan was simple, they would arrive as the storm came & conquer all in their path.

PLANETFALL

A top the mighty M'gaelak, Tathra presided over his army. He would conduct the beginnings of this conflict from here, guiding his children into the battle. But, he would only act as conductor in the beginning, not middle nor end. Tathra was Chieftain, and such a role dictated that he be here. Not Commanding for afar, for he would stand in the thick; blood and mud up to his knees alongside those whom called him Creator. It was an honour.

The M'gaelak heaved and grumbled as its massive four-hundred metre tall form lumbered through the mountain range, the sound of its approach deafened by the storm. The Siege Tower a top it was cloaked in darkness, its black metal mixing with the sky in the endless dark. A selection of Zealots & Brutes populated the platform, awaiting Tathra's descent to the Battlefield.

Beneath the M'gaelak, Brumak's lined the formation of Three-Hundred Savage Drones whilst another force would strike from underground. Ra'mak War Beasts would dominate the sky. All awaiting their Master's call.

Up this high, the wind was ice-cold to the bone. It stung at his unburdened flesh, nerves shuddering as the cold beat against his mass. Still, Tathra remained an unmoving silhouette on the helm of the M'gaelak Siege Tower.

They drew close, the Settlement was coming into full view as they had finally surpassed the valley. A last bastion for those with no hope. The Bryn'adûl would show them what their cowardice had bought them. Uncomfortable solitude, passively awaiting slaughter. The mere thought of how humans could accept such horrors turned his stomach, disgust and anger coiled around his mind.

It was time. They would attack the city first, draw the Jedi out of hiding. Then, they would obliterate their temple.

The air was chilling, biting at the flesh of those around Xrobas. But not him. As the storm brewed and roared and the cold air ripped through the massive force the Bryn'adûl had come with, Xrobas could feel nothing but the heat awaiting to be unleashed by his mutation. His breathing was heavy due to not being used to such an elevation. With each exhale came a low, guttural growl. His fiery eyes looked ahead as they came closer and closer to their target.

He could almost taste blood upon the wind. Long before any had been spilled. The storm covered their approach. A brilliant tactic utilized by his master, Tathra Khaeus. Xrobas formulated his plan of action as they were on the approach. He would go from building to building, ripping through any creature that was not of the Bryn'adûl. His wrath and fury would be felt by the denizens of the city. It had been so very long since his claws had tasted flesh. He was ready.

There would be many who were unfortunate enough to find themselves in the way of the Bryn'adûl. In the way of Xrobas H'kahn.

Crona’s spine tingled with an excitement he had not felt since his youth. Crona’s thirst for blood was growing ever quicker. He was, after months of waiting, going to purge heretics once more. His gaze drifted to Tathra, whom positioned himself a top one of the siege tower. Crona had no need for siege towers. He wanted to be close to the Jedi he’d be slaughtering, he wanted to see the fear in their eyes and tremble in their bodies. He would rip and tear his way through all he could see.

Crona raised his sword over his head, staring at the small army that was behind him. Crona then began to speak, “My brothers. We are here to do what we're born to do.” he continued, “We shall kill all that stands within that settlement.” he said, pointing to the settlement in the valley, “Now my brothers. Let us fight.”

They began marching in stride with the other drael.

The M'gaelak slowed to a halt as it turned the corner of the valley, coming upon a large open road - large farming fields on either side stretching toward the City. Lightning struck, silhouetting the huge beast. Its form was primordial, amassing flesh and amphibian tendrils stretching from an indiscernible face.

Some on-lookers may have seen it, a flash from their nightmares perhaps. Nothing would be certain before it was far too late. The extent of the city grounds would quake, Kadesh lead groups of Drones would soon populate every other block of the lower city. The Kadesh would be secured, and spread ink into the moonlight sky. Flooding the sky, soon Tathra would follow.

The Adjudicator Krast stood made her way toward Tathra, her footsteps echoing lightly as she slowed her pace - bowing. Her gilled featureless face looking up to her Master.

Tathra looked down upon the City, fires began to erupt from the areas of the Drones attack. Distant shouts hurriedly activated their search lights, finding but the ends of the M'gaelak's dripping tendrils. Chieftain Tathra removed his Great-Axe from the holster on his back, holding it aloft in his left.

"Go my children. Destroy the city. Leave none alive!" The Adjudicator absorbed his voice, amplifying the message outward to all Bryn'adûl. His powerful baritone crackling through rock & metal, reaching all Drael on the planet. The Ra'mak War Beasts descended from the sky, twirling beautifully like dark shards as metal spewed from their guns; massive shards of molten spikes crackling downward, attacking the City defences and her troop transports.

Tathra knelt down, placing one hand on the M'gaelak. "Eish-malafir." The M'gaelak growled a thundering retort, its march continued as the armies below moved forth. Including those commanded by the Shaman Crona'Tas. They elite force would strike where their defences were most heavily fortified, attacking their turrets before the M'gaelak arrived.

He would descend soon. Once the M'gaelak reached the walls, the Jedi would have no choice but to retaliate.

For many, the sight of what came from the mountains would be more akin to a crippling nightmare. For Hrajlmak'Natok however - It was a beauty more crisp than the air. Stood atop the M'gaelak Hrajlmak found himself near the edge. Draped in the same robes that had seen many battles, the icy wind violently whipped at any exposed flesh and billowed his robe like a child tugging at every corner. But the wind was hardly what occupied his mind. He pulled his four eyes from the mountain range floor as Tathra's command boomed across the tower. Staff in hand and eager to satiate his thirst, Hrajlmak descended upon the worthless city alongside Crona'Tas.

The objective was to assault the Turbo-batteries. Those turrets were a lengthy walk away and so, with a gap to close and time to kill, Hrajlmak busied himself with what he could find. The carnage that ensued was nothing dissimilar to what he knew all too well. Civilians, too often abandoned by their anointed protectors were torn to pieces by drones like meat at a feast. Hrajlmak lit up homes with balls of cleansing flame from his own hands. Spotlights that lit up the skies - offering some semblance of clarity to the nightmare, were hastily smothered in claw and fire. Shoulder to shoulder Crona, Hrajlmak looked on at the hellscape. Each eye absorbing the images with equal pleasure.

"These people are just animals left to slaughter while their guardians cower behind the walls."

Hrajlmak didn't look to Crona, only spoke into the wind.

"Without the support of the turrets, we should infect their walls. Cleanse from the inside out" Hrajlmak suggested.

Antarik Grendrada looked down on the mountain range and the city. He could smell the impurity. It grieved him. So many souls unable to comprehend the true meaning of strength. So many ignorant wretches unaware of their need for a cure. They would curse him when he brought the cure to them, not understanding that death was the very best thing he could give to their inferior existence. But their souls would come to understand in time, he knew. That day, as all days, was dedicated to the future, when vision and power would coalesce.

"So many millennia and these monks still try to bind up the broken in a way proven futile." Antarik mused to Tathra, his master. "They do not know they need us. My liege, let me go down and show them."

Tathra nodded slightly. Antarik bowed deeply, his exo-skeletal forehead nearly touching the ground. He backed away from his great leader, nearing the edge of the platform. He jumped off the edge without regard for the great height, relishing the fall, let the cool air balloon his lungs. He knew how far he could fall without injury, and he was careful to grab onto the M'gaelak at regular intervals to decelerate. He landed on the ground without injury and proceeded to walk on an oblique from the path of the great beast. He walked along up a flight of stone stairs leading to an ornate building tucked between two mountain peaks. The library.
The doors were shut and four heavily armored guards stood in front of it. Antarik stopped his approach, his crystal eyes twitching as he measured the obstacles. "Oh, yes. Such confidence. Such Ignorance." He touched a button on his utility belt, filling the air with a dull hum. He strode towards the guards, hands clasped together. The guards rushed at at him, shouldering rocket launchers. Red light flashed between the guards and the attacker. But there was silence in place of the expected explosion as the rockets de-activated mere centimeters from Antarik. The guards hesitated. Antarik smirked at them as he threw two small silver disks into the air. The disks shot out a smattering of lasers before exploding. Two of the guards evaded the hail of death, but the others succumbed quickly to myriad wounds. One of the guards who survived the disks made the mistake of getting to close to Antarik who planted a primitive dagger in his throat.

"You needn't resist." Antarik admonished the surviving guard. "As you can see, regardless of your effort, you will fall to a worthy foe today." He gagged as the soldier, a force adept, reached out with the force to choke him. His countenance did not change as he touched another button on his belt, emitting a cloud of puce colored gas. "That's it. Breath." Antarik crooned as the force grip left him and the guard fell at his feet. "If you hadn't closed my airways for that brief moment I would be joining you in death. For now, I am afraid you will not have the honor of such company." The gas dissipated, allowing him to safely kneel to whisper into the guard's ear. "Know that your death is not in vain. You have proven the value of the secrets you sought to guard. I will not waste them. Soon, you shall have much company, all of whom will tell you of the grand things your secrets have spurred under my guidance."

The guard collapsed to a prone position and breathed his last. Antarik closed the corpse's eyes and then ascended the remaining stairs to the doors of the library. The doors were no match for the vial of acid he had brought with him.

Aharon was with the group, while he wanted to attack and kill them all he waited, and upon the word he watched his brethren run st the wall mindlessly. He ran and scaled the wall, effortlessly. Many men laid dead around him, most cut in half. Then he looks at the buildings with and with his helmet laying out targets he picked up people with weapons in the buildings. Reaching the first one the man was thrown and the two others drew knives and attacked. Laughing Aharon kicked one into a wall and stomped on the other.

With his hammer he started his way down the building making holes in walls and killing people, by the time he left the building’s supports were too damaged and collapsed. In his mind he was cleansing them of the sin they lived, so he went to the next building with targets laid out. The building wasn’t damaged much in the onslaught but many fell dead. Aharon looked out the window at people running, and started laughing. “Run filth, you have 5 minutes before I start hunting.”

He waited. Brooding in anger and bloodlust as the target was coming into sight. And then, the orders came rumbling louder than even the storm above. Tathra had unleashed his armies upon the settlement. At that moment, Xrobas roared ferociously. His skin began to glow with intensity as it ignited from his mutation. The others around Xrobas began to charge forward towards the settlement. He leaped from the mighty M'gaelak's back onto a nearby mountainside and began his descent down, ripping across the stone.

Rain sizzled as it dropped onto his natural armor. Each leap down the mountain came with a monstrous grunt until he reached the bottom. Xrobas then watched as the walls were assaulted. Small farms just outside the walls began to burn as screams of terror filled the air. The smell of death and fear filled the air. All of it fueled Xrobas. The sights. The sounds. The smells. He feasted on it all.

He began his charge for the walls. As he ran, he could see explosions and bursts of fire as the walls were assaulted. Then, a group of civilians came into his sight. They had managed to evade the other Drael, leaving them to be the perfect first blood for Xrobas. Immediately, he lunged for the family. A father, mother, and their 2 children. All of them torn a part, one by one, by Xrobas. Their blood dripped from his talons and maw, staining the grass beneath Xrobas.

It was war. And war had no innocents.

Bryn'adûl forces met the enemy. They sought out the weak, in their cities, in their streets. Blood was spilt as the homes of puny sentients crumbled under the conquest of the Bryn'adûl. The city was alight with fire, Beasts of Drael domains shattering the feeble walls of their enemies as the mighty military force of his progeny crushed those who squandered the gift of sentience.

Grasping his left gauntlet, Tathra's hateful eyes shot to the temple. Anticipation captured his focus, eyes squinting at the distant torches widdling into nothing in the storm. They remained strong, battling against the tide. Their plight was ultimately futile. Then, a familiar stench reached him, the Draeyde. But, their musk had an unfamiliar strength. No doubt a result of Grendrada's meddling.

His left gauntlet rose, arm slightly extended as a singular large Superior Draeyde landed on his gauntlet. He inspected it for a moment, observing its darker, charcoal black hide and crimson underbelly. They would serve him well, for Grendrada's sake.

"Assist me." The abbysal growl in his throat shuddering through every syllable of his Command. The Draeyde shrieked, lusting for blood yet ultimately submissive to his Command.

The M'gaelak now drew close, halting as it hunched now; its many tendrils grasping the adjacent high towers of the City as it let out a colossal scream - tearing the high towers from the earth, catapulting them into the city centre. Tathra continued to hold his focus on the distant temple. Two massive doors opened, transport ships moving under the shadow of dark. Tathra's eyes shifted, recolouring to ultraviolet - allowing Tathra to easily track the descent of the ships by their search lights.

The hunched M'gaelak continued to catapult the city with its tendrils, one withheld as it rose to Tathra - allowing him to descend towards the city. At nearly a hundred metres, the tendril outstretched as Tathra whispered to the Superior Draeyde - a shadowy arm of fifty spiralling toward one of the Jedi dropships. The Superior Draeyde cut through the pilot, leaving a fountain of flesh and blood in his place as the ship descended.

Tathra ran the length of the tendril, leaping far and landing only short of the crashed transport. The Draedye gathered at his call, a spiralling darkness encircling him as hundreds of Draeyde danced around him. Those in the streets knew not what stood before them, flashes of a glaring red face with golden orbs for eyes.

Aharon was done counting, the hunt had begun. The first man he found huddled behind a dumpster. Bring his Kinetic Hammer down, the man was just a stain. Then he started tracking the others, some fought back, it was worthless they were all dead before the ten minute mark since the beginning of the hunt.

Aharon would watch the buildings contemplating, he heard the pattering of metal on stone and he turned to see a small militia. About 10 members all with blasters opened fire. Aharon jumped into the fray, laughing and screaming as he did. His hammer was tattered with blood as he tore through the men.

Most hit buildings and walls as the hammer hit the ground. The ones who weren’t thrown back stood there frightened. He just dropped his hammer and opened fire with his spiker killing the men still standing. As the others got up and opened fire he walked, towards them and their fire slowly stopped as it wasn’t stopping him. He thrusted his spiker into the first man and they started to run. Aharon was laughing while he lifted the man and kept firing his spiker at the retreating figures.

Ripping the man off the spiker. Aharon decided to continue his conquest through the city on his own. Many men fell under him. His armor was destroyed, it had many holes in it. It had served its purpose and it was now useless. Removing it he looked at his lighter armor and it was pretty fine. This surprised him for he had taken many shots, but he slipped back into the shadows and was going from building to building looking for more prey.

The various mandibles across Antarik's body clacked with barely-contained joy. The library was absolutely bursting with information. Hyperspace charts, advanced biological textbooks from Kamino, Jedi tomes. Ingredients perfect for a deadly recipe. And at the end of it all, across a long wide hallway, was the paired wine; a jedi holocron.
"You really shouldn't leave your treasure out in the open like that." He beckoned to the guards crowded around the holocron. Receiving no response, he reached out his hand. The ground in front of the guards began to simmer as he applied force-fission to it. The guards opened fire, prompting Antarik to pull a banner off the wall, and hold it suspended to catch the bolts and impede the shooters' view. Orange veins opened up in the fire, sending up tongues of flame. Finally, the floor burst, sending thousands of seering hot stone chunks flying at the guards. The guards fell wholesale, save for one.
"Oh my, is this a trap?" Antarik feigned astonishment as the lone jedi held a vortex of stone shards in stasis above his head. "Hiding a guard dog among the sheep. A noble effort, paladin, but it should have been spent elsewhere." He closed his fist, causing the stones in the vortex to melt and fall on the jedi. "How terrible is wisdom when it brings no profit to the wise?" He laid the banner across the burning floor and walked up to the holocron, taking it in his hands and scowling. He looked at the corpse of the jedi, his eyes burning with rage. He threw down the holocron, shattering it into a thousand pieces. A fake. Bars shut up from the floor around Antarik, rising at an angle so that they converged above him. He reached out with the force to break the cage, but the bars were carbonite and they emitted a gas when flexed which burned his exoskeleton. Guards poured in from the wings, fifty strong.
"You should kill me now." Antarik said. "You won't get the chance later on."
"I want to speak with your leader." The captain of the guard demanded.
"You may have achieved the prerequisite for a meeting. But your time for speaking is nearing its limit."

Pools of crimson grew larger as Xrobas' body count climbed. So many unfortunate victims of the Drael's unending rage and bloodthirst. None of it quenched him. He needed something more. Something that would be a challenge. Something that would fight back.

The adrenaline that coursed through someone fighting for their life. It gave them a flavor much more satisfying than that which fear gave them. It's what Xrobas craved more than anything now. The small morsels he feasted upon were just that. Snacks. He needed someone with fight in them. He craved Jedi flesh.

The Jedi temple was ahead. He could see it. The aroma of death permeated the air. Such a sweet and powerful scent. War and death followed the Bryn'adul wherever they went. It was their mark on the galaxy.

Xrobas pushed onward, following other Bryn'adul charging headfirst. Xrobas saved his energy for when he would need it. The plates on his flesh grew dim as his mutation was put to rest. For when it happened, Xrobas would be ready to finally pierce Jedi flesh with his teeth.

The Jedi didn't know what had come nor why. Yet no doubt they could feel, what Tathra was. They could the imminent death, the impersonal hatred coiled around his calm heart. Tathra didn't hate them out of pettiness like the Sith, Tathra had no such grudge against them for their beliefs. It was simply that they existed, like insects.

No doubt they felt like insects, but it was the nature of Humans to persevere. Hues of blues, greens, yellows and purples exploded from the shadows and dark smoke generated by the crashed Jedi dropship. Tathra counted maybe nine, they perhaps believed they could best him.

Tathra moved forward, darting from side to side with great bounds of energy. His movements were sporadic, darting across the road with ease as each crashing footstep caused the ground to crack - his movements reverberated to their ears like the slow beat of a drum - Tathra was coming for them.

His movements were half-hidden in the mirage of the Draeyde, encircling him constantly at high speed. Some of the Jedi faltered, frozen by the indiscernible mass moving toward them. Six of them were not so cowardly, rushing forward with Sabers extended.

"Go left!" Tathra barked in Drael, the Draeyde responded - moving away from their Master into a dark tendril, attacking two of the Jedi. The Jedi's sabers killed some of the Draeyde due to their weakness to light, but the trade off was acceptable. Immediately, both Jedi were turned into unrecognisable meat.

Tathra was even more vicious than the Draeyde. His Axe swung out at a vertical, wrist facing upward to give greater reach to his strike. The blow knocked the closest Jedi down, lightsaber thrown from his grasp as he slid under Tathra, barely evading the Axe's blade. Jedi Reflexes. The second was not so lucky, Tathra's strike allowed him to immediately twirl the Axe, redirecting it as he leapt to the left - bashing through the Saber and killing the Jedi immediately.

Tathra's left hand sat at the top of the shaft, switching it into a reverse grip as he released his right hand; swinging the Axe's long hilt across and knocking down two of the Jedi, killing one from sheer impact. A third leapt over the hilt and slashed at Tathra's neck, the colossal Titan twisted his torso left and inward, allowing the blow to glance off his collar-armour.

The Draeyde returned, coming through the back of the downed ship and cutting through one of the two Jedi that remained near it, spiralling towards the fallen Jedi who had been struck by Tathra's hilt.

Aharon stalked down the alley blood sprayed the walls, a man crawling backwards. "Please show mercy. I have a family."

This statement stopped Aharon, by now the man had reached the end of the alley. Aharon knew what mercy meant, but not what it was. "Explain creature."

The man perked up, this could be a chance. "Explain what? Mercy?" He was truly was distressed and very nervous. Blood coated his cloths Aharon's blade had gone across his chest wounding him. The man didn't have much longer even if Aharon stopped the pursuit, the wound was too deep.

"Foolish creature, what else would I have asked for, family? You think me a fool?" Aharon was a bit annoyed but he tried his best to keep his calm. He wanted to learn of this creature's ways.

"Mercy, like, uh, let me live to see another sunrise. Or maybe you can save me and my family. Please, I just want to see them again." This man was scared, though he had little time he had faith he would last a lifetime. He would sit and mouth "Please" as his breaths grew shorter.

Aharon kneeled down and studied the dying creature. What confused him was how he felt, not anger nor bloodlust, but pity. "Creature, you are too far gone, but I will show... mercy." Lifting the man up it was too late, the man died that minute mouthing the words "Thank you." A happy smile on his face as his eyes faded into nothingness. Dropping the body Aharon stood there for a minute, this thing was defenseless against him and his brothers, and he was murdered rest of them, like cattle in a slaughterhouse.

Lerropten

My conclusion is logical.
In the skies above, the load call of an Er'Dolar ripped through the air as it flew above the battle. On it's back, Lerropten glared down on the battle at the temple. Jedi. He would have to try and capture one or two, dead or alive, for his own needs as he and his allies left. The large winged creature soon landed, using its tail and jaws to fight off what little opposition was left outside. The creature was too large to follow its master in, but the Shaman had more then one beast at his command.

A cloud of Draeyde flew past him as the large being followed suit, telling the Er'Dolar to take flight as to not be easily targeted. He walked in slowly, letting the swarm deal with the enemy, but leave them "intact" for future use. It was then that the Shaman got a specific feeling. A familiar Aeravalin. He turned towards the familiar feel, telling his swarm to follow to the area, ensure his ally wasn't attacked. What the swarm would do though.... He left what they did to anyone else up to instinct.

The first reaction from the guards when the swarm came in was confusion. Squinted eyes and half-phrased questions. Then an eruption of laser blasts in a futile attempt to stop the coming terror. What happened next was a whirlwind of blood and scales. Antarik stood calmly, reaching out with the force to grip the very floor. The foundation of the building cracked. The carbonite cage fell open. The swarm dissipated, leaving the geneticist the only thing alive in the building. He walked out and took a deep breath. The battle was fully underway. The carnage was... refreshing.

Tathra's left leg shot out behind him, kicking back the Jedi who'd landed behind him. His eyes shifting to the fallen Jedi as the Draeyde pack swarmed him, the light of his Saber ebbing into nothing as he was encased in the shadow of the Draeyde. They quickly moved, leaving nothing but sinew and flesh among unrecognisable rags.

The two remaining Jedi had rose to their feet, drawing close to one and other as they basked in shades of blue - protected by the emanating light from an easy attack by the Draeyde. Tathra stood, basking in shadow and rain. The blood of those whom had fallen running down his face, captured by the rain.

The rain was falling heavily now, the Jedi's robes clung to their bodies. Tathra held his Axe by the mid-length aloft in his dominant hand, staring at the two who remained. In that moment of reprieve, his armour felt heavy for a moment; the angular plates that rose above his shoulders felt improperly weighted, muscle-bound form clamoured to move - to act. His hesitance was strange, but even so he had to.

Tathra felt it, a hunger. He had to absorb all that he could of their suffering. Their weak, pathetic lives whittling away. It felt too good to let go of, he itched to kill them. To prove his superiority. Ultimately; they would die ignorant, and that made him happy.

Tathra's right foot slid backward, his upper mass anchoring forward as the ground beneath his feet cracked. His whole body thriving on an endorphin-fuelled genocidal lust. He leapt forth, leaping into the air with unmatched strength toward the two Jedi with Axe still in his left.

Tathra landed, crumbling the duracrete road underfoot as the two Jedi separated. Tathra immediately swung wide, striking the first and knocking him to the ground - but not killing. The second intervened, he took his chance; charging at Tathra with his blade extended. Tathra turned with the momentum of his initial swing, hooking the Jedi's saber with his Axe's rightmost blade, and bringing the weapon from left to right.

It opened the Jedi up for an attack, no doubt he anticipated a blow from Tathra's weapon. Instead, his left arm pulled away from the Axe's hilt - striking outward and grasping the Jedi. Tathra pulled him close, using the friction to cause his weapon to fall. Tathra turned, anticipating the other Jedi on his heel.
