Building a Better Battleship Mk.2 - Faction Shipbuilding Planning

Grand Admiral, First Order Central Command
To my knowledge, no faction on the board has yet made a mass production vessel that stresses the current max meters allowed under the new rules.

My intention is to do that. A Battlecruiser like the Allegiance-class, but having more in common with real world Battlecruisers (trading armor for speed, or in this case maneuverability) in order to complement the slower Darkblades and Immortals.

What is needed is at a minimum, a 30-post thread with at least two other writers. So basically this thread is to recruit people willing to work on a dev thread (and longer is always better) and plan that thread, to make it a self-contained story and actually worth reading.

Well that's one more than minimum, so we're off to a good start.

What should the thread be about? I'd like to avoid the old 'sit and talk about the ship' because that sort of thread has never interested me much. Ideally there'd be some conflict to resolve (perhaps related to the ongoing trend of the criminal incompetency in the upper ranks of the One Sith navy).

Another possible point of interest woudl be that I'm using concepts from several older ships in this design.

Remember that the dev thread doesn't have to be construction.

I would say have it be a pirate raid on the ship while its half done.

That's a bloody fantastic idea. I'll see if anyone wants to play opposition and get a starter post up soon-ish.

Make sure it isn't too similar to a flagship or you will all suffer.
Ah, just to be clear, what do you mean by this?

Back in the day we were told that the galaxy was coming out of the Darkness being extremely lacking in resources, and thus everything was tuned down and underpowered in the early days.

Obviously as the board progressed the ships quickly got up to the standard you see today, but back then it was rough :p
