Building a Better Battleship

Grand Admiral, First Order Central Command
So with the factory down I've been sitting here stewing and planning. That plan has culminated in that I want to start a series of dev threads to build us a 3000m Dreadnought/Battleship/Battlecruiser/whateveryouwannacallit.

I have a general outline of how to proceed, and while I don't foresee needing any additional help (this uh, will not be a quick process at all) I figured I may as well make my intentions known so people can join in and get involved if they wish. The general outline behind the threads is not simply putting together a ship, because that's boring and hard to get 'multiple substantial dev threads' out of. At least for me.

So instead I'm going to have it look at the One Sith Navy as a whole, and Cyrus' attempts and the process to reconstruct it into the most professional and elite Navy in the galaxy.

Thread 1: A complex exercise over Coruscant devolves into disaster as a result of the incompetence of several ship captains. Investigation shows widespread corruption within the ranks of the OS miltiary structure, especially relating to Sith patronage and favoritism. Offending Rear Admiral is sentenced to Court Martial and executed.

Thread 2: Effects of Cyrus' reforms are felt throughout the fleet and there is backlash. Political intrigue and such to follow.

Thread 3: As the fleet begins to better adapt to new standards and regulations, Cyrus sees an opportunity to create a symbolic and powerful force to show the rebirth of the Sith Navy. That culminates in the design and construction of the aforementioned Battlecruiser.

I'm looking for quality over quantity here. Perhaps I"m wrong, but I assume that three threads with ~20/30 long in-depth posts is valued more than 4/5 threads with piles of poodooposts. That's my goal. I've tagged a number of people who might be interested/have questions/concerns, but feel free to post in here with any comments.

And I reiterate, I'm not trying to rush this. It will be a slow process. But hey, it'll be worth it in the end.

My advice: stay small yet powerful.

For now.

New Factory rules might change what I say, but most Invasions limit the combined length of ships. Larger ships have been woefully underarmed based on size.

How come you did not mention me, got none standard ship weapons. Two types of reactors, and I also have ship yards

But I am happy to work with you on a thread, as I like to do one for a heavy cruiser. It will be a mass troop transport, not really a fleeting ship though. Though it can help, a bit

Maybe make multiple variations of this ship. One of them should be a larger, command version, and the others should be Light Destroyers

There's a group of us who've already taken several steps to making the Sith Navy into a force to be reckoned with. That's not what this thread is for.

And we have a brutal vicious little Star Destroyer already. It's called the Dark Blade, and since the Starfall turned itself into a meteor over Coruscant they're probably gun-for-length the most powerful ship on the forum right now.

This is specifically a pet project of mine to make a 3000m capital ship, which I've always wanted but have lacked the ability to do so under the rules and the time.

But duly noted on future dev threads. We definitely still need one for a pocket carrier and assault ship.

I actually have an idea for a carrier in the works.... I just need to figure out whether Titan or the Shadow Emp's company would be better suited to making it...

On an unrelated note, I finally figured out where your playby is from, Cyrus.

Really makes me appreciate how much better BioWare's graphic design team was before EA took them over...

I don't suppose anyone wants the honor of being the particularly skilled commander in post #3?

Otherwise I'll have to make someone up, and that'd be a waste. You're not committing to anything here, as it were, it's just a chance to include some other names from the One Sith.
