Faction Burn Spiders, Or Whatever Those Are (Sith Order)

Sometimes the things Sith messed with really just shouldn't have been messed with. Or created that shouldn't be created. That's why Sofiel was here. Another lab overrun by some Sith creation they couldn't control. At least they had the Inquisitors to respond. Dressed in her suit the Acolyte turned her gaze up to the facility. On her shoulder, Vorthruz. Her Familiar did as it always would, keep an eye out where she couldn't see with her own eyes. Given the webbing already on the facility?

She was going to need it.

"Is the perimeter secure?"

"For now, yes. We're not sure how long they can be contained. What is your plan?"

Sofiel turned to the trooper, giving a faint smile that never reached her eyes.

"Burn them, of course."

Not every mission the Inquisition was called upon to undertake was a glorious or even clean affair, sometimes they were merely on cleanup duty of a sorts. Like now for example, when they had been called to some 'hidden' laboratory that had evidently suffered a containment breach. And a very big one at that given that webbing could be seen stretched across the facility from the air as the Inquisition transports landed. Alisteri was already wondering why they hadn't simply strafed the facility and bombed it into a crater and they had yet to even enter inside.

"Burning is a bit of an understatement." He noted as he came to stand beside Sofiel and the trooper, his arms crossed behind his back as he nodded to the lab before them. "We should not rule out the possibility of leveling the whole facility should containment fail."

Of course, the Knight Inquisitor was sure that some senator or governor would berate him for such a recommendation if they were present. Perhaps even go off on some tangent about valuable knowledge laying within the web-covered walls that could not be lost by any means, but thankfully no such politician was here yet. "Do we know what we're up against? Any information on whatever horrid beast they've created here?"

A figured cloaked in the attire of Inquisitors of Old faded into view off to one side of those that gathered. The red line cut across her enclosed helm without an inch of green skin visible. "Explosions will contaminate the surrounding region." Lliara stopped several feet away after answering questions not posed to her.

"Rupturing the containment vessels will scatter toxic chemicals and organic matter. A contained burn would be best. I hope these people had a sterilization protocol built into their ill-gotten laboratory." If people thought they heard vexation and reproach from the synthesized voice, they would be correct. As someone with her own lab full of insanely lethal creations, she had strong opinions on how people built and ran their own facilities.

Whether they listened to her warning... well, Sith weren't known for caring about the collateral damage and the suffering of uninvolved parties. Not that Lliara cared either. It would just be a waste of resources. "So, how many limbs do the beasts have?" A mild joke. Perhaps one others wouldn't share, which would be their loss.

"I've no idea what exactly they are, but they seem to have webbing. So.. Spiders, of some kind."

Sofiel shrugged indifferently as she glanced towards the masked face of another Knight Inquisitor. An Apprentice of Ophidia, if her sources were correct. And they had to be. Darth Temerant Darth Temerant wanted to make sure she was up and up with all the information on those they were supposed to be working alongside. Which should've included the other person who spoke up. They certainly looked like an Inqusitor.

Yet they weren't.

"Eight, sixteen, three, I don't think it matters much. They kept a tight lid on just what was within, but surely we'll be able to handle this, no?"

Malum stepped on a spider leg, and then immediately jumped back, eyes wide, with his lightsaber pointing directly at the limp, detached limb. He blinked a few times, making sure it would not move, considering it was separated from the rest of its body, and the rest of its body was also limp, its many eyes having taken on a rather glassy expression.

Malum's breath eased at the confirmation that the thing... the spider, was certainly dead.

Very good for him.

He hated spiders.

Always had, always would.

Looking ahead, he saw many a familiar face, Alisteri, the masked Sith Knight, the graduated apprentice of their mutual mistress, Sofiel, the woman that had aided him in his venture in Korriban, and then an adventure into Hell, and Lady Daeva... who he admittedly knew very little off, he had seen her at Jutrand during the Kainite invasion but had not exactly spoken to her.

Indeed in front of him stood a veritable inquisitorial squad, a rather high-ranking one considering Alisteri and Lady Daeva's presence. He idly noted that it seemed that Sofiel too was part of the Inquisition, it was interesting information, if not that useful.

Or it was possible that she was in a position similar to his, not apart of the Inquisition, but brought forth into this operation as a sort of independent consultant.

That was likely how the bureaucracy saw it, what it really meant was an extra lightsaber outside of the Inquisition aiding to kill spiders.

Bogan, he hated spiders.

"What's our next move?" He called out, walking to the group.

His initial suggestion to simply blow the laboratory into the ground was rebutted by another Sith, drawing his gaze to the one dressed much like the Inquisitors of the old Galactic Empire. The logic was sound and one that he accepted, even if it did dismiss his idea. "So no bombardment is advisable then, unless we can call in a vessel capable of glassing the facility. If we assume containment is untenable though then we have no time to summon such a ship or fleet. Of course nothing could be so simple."

Alisteri sighed and looked back at the web-covered building before them as he thought over remaining possibilities. It seemed as if infiltration of some sort would be the only way to thoroughly eliminate and purge whatever the lab wad infested with. He glanced at his fellow apprentice Malum and briefly gave a small nod as the other Sith joined the group, although he had no real answer to his question yet.

Getting their hands dirty seemed to be the only real option left.

"A sterilization protocol would be ideal, but in abscence of one there is potentially overloading and destroying several systems in order to trigger a wider reactor meltdown. It's dangerous but it would surely kill any of the creatures that have found some alternative escape from the facility." Of course the potential fallout of a meltdown would be an entirely new danger, albeit one that was slightly easier to manage given that it couldn't fight back like an outbreak of spider-creatures. "Either way we need access to the inner workings of the facility."

Spiders? Lliara's lips thinned. Webbing would be an environmental hazard all its own. Admittedly, a lightsaber would be better suited at burning a way through than her usual tools of the trade. There had better not be any survivors of this mess, or she'd make them regret forcing her to deal with it.

The Mirialan made no reply to Sofiel Sofiel 's overwhelming confidence. Ego demanded they not say anything otherwise, but given the lack of solid information it was arrogance to presume their victory as assured. Times like these always had her reminiscing about the Old Days -- the boasting, the unwavering zeal...

Then Darth Malum of House Marr Darth Malum of House Marr drew near. A young if capable warrior.

Her attention was drawn back to Darth Strosius Darth Strosius , however, as he seemed to accept Lliara's caution against recklessly striking the facility. Now, if they could arrange for a complete burn of the entire site... yes, that would suffice. Even if Lliara wanted to get inside the facility and explore what had been going on before all the evidence was washed away. Not everyone accepted 'investigate' as a suitable reason to delay widespread destruction.

A reactor meltdown? Possibly. "The largest question facing us is whether we proceed as a group, or split up? If we have any intention of destroying the base using ad hoc means, I would like to investigate the storage vessels. Additional preparation may be necessary to prevent the ejection of hazardous waste." Her left arm rose and rolled over to expose a holodisplay of the facility's schematics. Storage was theoretically in range of a meltdown. It would be best if she could inspect whether the place had been built as documented, or if someone had made alterations.

"Interesting."

Sofiel kept her gaze on Alisteri for a moment longer, just to listen to him. A Sterilization Protocol, huh? It wasn't something she put much thought in. Was that the norm for Sith? A back up to erase everything? Seemed wasteful, if handy in situations like this. The confidence of a Sith could only get them so far, then. Interesting, and a shame.

"Vorthruz." The Familiar shifted from her shoulder, seeming to melt rather than just hop down to the ground before her. And continued to melt, melding into the ground until only a shadow remained. A shadow with the white mask.

"They can stay close if we decide splitting up is the best option. Or scout ahead, if you wish. That choice is yours, Knight Inquisitor."

"If you want the opinion of a non-inquisitor." Malum began, seeing that though they had seemingly reached some sort of agreement, it was far from decisively or fully accomplished, "Could we not call the flame troopers, burn through the webs, the fire would likely keep the arachnids far from us as well." Such a thing would definitely be appreciated by him.

Keep those furry, spindly legs far, far away from him.

Still, he was glad that both senior inquisitors were thinking far ahead, it was expected certainly, but he always feared the possibility of those with such institutional power. The ability for incompetence or corruption at such a large scale was certainly something to fear.

"As for my opinion regarding splitting up, I'd vote for staying together, these things have thus far proven defeatable so far, but there is no telling what is further on in the facility." Malum feared a truly terrifying possibility in regard to that.

Even larger spiders.

Or smaller ones.

Neither option was a good option, really not even the current size of the spiders was a good option.

"But," And he hated that he was honour bound to bring the option forth, "As Lady Sofiel has her familiar that can either accompany us or scout ahead, I can use my Shadow to do similar." If they decided to split up.

Which he really, really, did not want to do.

So it came down to journeying forward as a group or divided to cover more ground, both of which obviously held their own advantages and disadvantages. Smaller groups would make infiltration easier but in turn would make any engagement within far more dangerous and complicated without all parties present, not to mention the possibility of one group being left behind if they did indeed trigger some sort of facility-wide cleansing.

A large group was more secure but meant that their infiltration would have to be slower and more tactical, which would allow for more time for a potential breach of containment to occur even if they themselves avoided any conflict. Such was the complex nature of planning he supposed. Alisteri glanced at Sofiel as her...creature melted from her shoulder, watching the display in silence for a moment before turning back to the laboratory without offering a response.

"Flame troopers would be very useful yes, but we cannot afford to wait for them to arrive." Having a squad or two inbound just in case things did go south was a good idea though. "Besides, if we are careful and lucky then we won't need to engage the...spiders at all. Fire would just attract unneeded attention to our mission."

Alisteri rested his hands on his sides and nodded towards the building, content with his musing. "I second Malum's vote. A united group will be more capable of responding to whatever may await us inside, and we can always split up within if multiple objectives need to be accomplished faster. See if we can call in some flame support to help keep the beasts at bay until we can find a way to purge the facility, that is my recommendation."

Lliara's helm turned briefly in Sofiel Sofiel 's direction before it calmly swung to Darth Malum of House Marr Darth Malum of House Marr . Darth Strosius Darth Strosius even seemed in favor of the young Sith's proposal to remain together. Unexpected. It wasn't because he didn't trust them -- or her -- was it? That would be standard Sith operating procedure. They might just make quick work of this mess after all. Though it might cost her the opportunity to pillage the data for herself.

"The familiars will scout ahead. Personnel and materials in range will be called, but we will not wait on them. They can establish a perimeter to contain any outbreak that may occur and scan for subterranean passages dug by the beasts." The Mirialan regarded the assembled group that comprised a number of backgrounds and skill sets.

Lliara stepped forward and laid a hand atop Malum's shoulder as she paused by his side. "Not every opinion is acted upon, but leaders cannot make informed decisions if they do not hear the thoughts of those around them." A beat. "Still," she smiled inside of her helmet, "it never hurts to make sure the leader isn't a ravaging lunatic first." A light chuckle followed the qualifier to her advice.

"The spiders won't kill themselves. If there's nothing further to plan?" A gloved hand was held out to the side indicating the overrun facility and its webbed menace. They could call in the containment units on the way.
