- Modeled after the shikkar, the burning version has a unique twist: the hollow glass blade contains a powerful acid which burns the recipient when the blade is snapped off.
- Nasty Surprise: Once the glass blade has been cracked, the acid contained within will leak out, dealing further damage to the target.
- Concealable: Since shikkar blades are made entirely out of glass, they are generally able to pass through sensors undetected. The addition of acid in the blade has no effect on this.
- Impractical: The most dangerous aspect of this weapon is the high likelihood that the wielder will themselves be damaged by the acid in the blade, necessitating either quick, nimble fingers or acid resistant gloves.
- One Time Use: Once the blade has been broken, it cannot be used again.
- Fragile: The entire weapon, including the hilt, is made out of glass and can break quite easily. Try not to drop it.
The shikkar is a neat weapon, if a little extra. The idea is quite devious - it is made to be used only once, to be snapped off as soon as the blade enters the body so that it will remains there and fester painfully beneath the skin. Gross. But why not make it even more nasty by adding acid to it?
Okay, so Messala didn't actually come up with this idea on his own. He got it from a movie in which a femme fatale whipped out a hollow glass blade, smashed it against a table, and when it shattered the wood started to smoke. Cool image. She didn't manage to kill anyone with it, however, and Messala's burning desire (heh) to see what would happen if someone did get stabbed with a blade full of acid is what prompted him to manufacture it himself.
