Private Bury The Hatchet

The decision to seek refuge with the Jedi had not been an easy one for either party after all that she had done, notably the several battles she had fought against them. Now, strangely, she walked among those who had been at the end of her blaster - fewer than there could've been, as a result of her actions. She tried to shake off such thoughts. Times had changed and she along with them. The Empire had betrayed her and she - it.

After a quick glance to ensure a training room was clear, she walked over to the where she presumed equipment was stored and picked up a training lightsaber, inspecting it in her hands with intrigue. She ignited the blade and moved it around slowly, testing how the weight difference felt compared to the weapons she was used to. It seemed a sort of elegant weapon, one that could earn a begrudging respect from beholders.

Despite her experience in melee combat, she wasn't sure how well she would've fared if she used a lightsaber but she certainly knew that they were irritatingly tricky to deal with when facing the other end. Although she had earned enough trust to allow for her application to the GADF, she was still wary around Jedi. She didn't understand the force but she knew that they could sense intangible things in a way that she couldn't.

Though she had displayed some curiosity towards the Jedi, their weapons and way of life, she was still markedly insular about life outside the Empire, largely due to the animosity that had been instilled in her throughout past training, but through new training and efforts to help with reintegration, she was slowly becoming less reserved.

The chance to gain a view into the governing council of the Order was one he couldn’t pass up, with how infrequent that was. Many of the reasons that necessitated they convene, when they did, were for delicate matters that kept their discussions private, but the readmission of someone into their ranks was both uncommon occurrence and uncommon opportunity to show how the Council treated this and other similar situations; his attendance at those proceedings had taken up a portion of his morning.

He could only speculate on what made anyone step away from their vows, or what made them renege on that decision and return, but he couldn’t fault any one person for wanting to support the cause of the Alliance, regardless of their reasons. With murmurs of impending war and other related rumours haunting conversations around the Temple, now was as good a time as any to do so.

So it was these thoughts, among others, that drove him to put in time honing his bladework after a desperately-needed ounce of shut-eye, given that it had evaded him entirely the previous evening. Also more caf while he walked down a corridor to the most distant set of training rooms, taking the occasional sip, full of intent to either find a sparring partner, or contend with the training remotes and droids. A live partner in training was almost always preferable.

But when Vizion began to turn a corner, he caught a glimpse of a blonde woman he didn't recognize coming from the other direction. There were many faces around the temple, and many Jedi with whom he wasn't acquainted, but this particular woman lacked the distinct presence that would indicate a two-way connection to the empyrean - the Force was in all things, but like most, she would possess no way to influence it - which was initially a curious thing as he slipped back around the bend and out of sight, until it occurred to him that she was dressed much more like one of the countless members of the GADF. It wasn't unheard of for some sectors of the armed forces to train with the Jedi on occasion.

[ Maybe she's waiting for some-- ]

But that didn't include handing them a lightsaber, as far as he knew. When Vizion heard the unmistakable snap-hiss of a lightsaber coming alive, which halted his suppositions, it urged his feet to move. The rather lightweight weapons stocked in that room and many others were solely training lightsabers, but best to not have any avoidable surprises.

Vizion arrived within a couple of moments, darkening the entrance, "Be careful with that," he cautioned, gesturing to the hilt in her possession, "training blade won't cut any arms off, but it's still painful to bare skin."

Despite the weapon's elegance and the awe she felt in the prescence of such a unique weapon, she couldn't help but fall back on memories of a time when she had been faced with the end of the blade in combat. Though she had limited experience of opposing Jedi herself, often resigned to covert insurgent operations in the special forces, free from the hassle of any Jedi, there were still notable occasions where she had witnessed the wrath of a lightsaber against herself and her former allies. How could a blade so elegant look so grisly in battle?

She had watched her comrades swiftly put down by these blades and even if it had been in self-defence, it was hard to view ligthsabers under the same light after witnessing the brutal destruction they had caused to those she formerly swore allegiance to. It led to some complex feelings about the weapon, to say the least but further reminded her of her change in allegiance. Getting as close to the Jedi to hold one of their revered weapons was not a situation she ever expected to find herself in and she was still feeling uneasy about it.

Beginning her journey with the GADF had been a daunting experience and even in the early days she was still uncomfortable. Living, sleeping and eating with people whose comrades she may have possibly killed in war was never an easy adjustment to make - even more so if they knew where she had come from.

The voice caused an instant nervousness and she deactivated the weapon, whipping round to face the source of the voice as she did "Oh, no... I was just looking." She replied innocently but truthfully. "I wasn't going to use it." She replied in an attempt to reassure him. "I've just never held one before." She explained before replacing the hilt where she had found it, wanting to avoid getting into trouble. "Are you a Knight?" She asked, trying to gague whether or not she'd get into trouble.
