Special Features:
HUD linked, to utilize targeting systems and sensors.
Once deployed, the shielding with move around the user and activate in response to threats.
Three sectional plates can split off to defend against multiple vectors at once.
Shielding sections can combine efforts to stop a larger attack.
Charging station and rechargeable power supply allow for upkeep and on-the-go usage.
Strengths:
Denied: Utilizing the proximity sensors and targeting computers of a Heads Up Display, the shielding can quickly respond to close up attacks or ranged ones.
Triple trouble: The shielding comes in three small segments. When not deployed, they form a plate that rests on the forearm of the outfitted armor unassumingly, but when the user activates it, they split off and begin to revolve around the affixed armor.
Stop: In response to incoming attacks, the segments will activate and engage a small barrier of energy capable of taking multiple shots from a blaster, a slugthrower, or even several seconds of sustained contact from a lightsaber.
You shall not pass: By combining the efforts of all three sections, the shielding can create a large field that stops incoming attacks. This is severely limited due to power drainage, and can only be maintained for several seconds before the device must return to the armor in order to recharge.
Weaknesses:
Didn't see that coming: Due to the nature of sniper shots, the HUD itself struggles to pick up on such attacks fired from a distance until it is too late. Thus, this shield cannot respond with sufficient time to be reliable against snipers.
Must recharge: Once a section’s energy allotment has been depleted during activation, it must return to its sedentary state and be allowed to recharge before it can be deployed again. This means attacks must be defended against judiciously, or the shield will not be available when it is most needed. (3 minutes per single segment, 5 if the combined shield is activated.)
Shocking revelation: Ionic and EMP attacks are efficient for draining the battery life of the shield’s segments. It can take only a handful of such attacks before it is forced to return to its charging station.
Vulnerable when drained: While its composition is fairly fortified against attack and able to weather several strikes before breaking down or warping, the segments are not intended to be utilized in such a way. As such, if destroyed while deactivated, the hardware must be fully replaced.
Hot, hot, hot!: Beware, if your armor is not suited for high temperatures- the shield offers no protection at all from residual heat, such as that caused by close proximity to a lightsaber. If the shielding is used too close to the body or low-melting point materials, those things are at risk.
HUD malfunction: In the event the HUD of the user's armor fails, the shield cannot be employed efficiently, and will remain dormant until systems are back online.
DESCRIPTION
Self-Defense.
When you learn the Resol’nare, it's one of the Six Actions imperative to embracing Mandalorian culture. Beskar'gam is one of the most prominent types, if not the cutting edge of armor- and yet, the body inside is frail when one considers the countless dangers of the Galaxy.
When Alkor set out to create a new tool for his people, he did so with all of that in mind. To keep the Children of Mandalore alive, he wanted to create another layer of protection that could offer a strategic edge, or a secondary defense for those times when one just can't respond quickly enough. To that end, he developed the C-Type Reactive Shielding.
Formed into plates, the segmented shielding appears as little more than a layer of metal across the forearm. Alusteel and Durasteel offer significant structural integrity behind the projected energy fields, able to hold together under duress. When not in use, the shield seats on a forearm mounted charging station.
The segments split off when activated and “orbit” the bearer utilizing repulsorlifts, and quickly move in response to stimuli reported by the user’s HUD. The shielding can block attacks at close or mid range.
In the event of a much more dangerous attack, such as that of a disruptor, the shield can combine its efforts in order to soak a powerful attack, at the expense of extreme power output. This saps the life of the cells at a much quicker rate and they will all be forced to recharge if drained in this state.
Alkor also mentioned that attacks the HUD has difficulty with such as those from sniper rifles are nigh impossible to stop with this shielding, and if anyone was planning to use it to try and stop a turbolaser, they should probably write out a last will and testament first.
