Stern but caring. He often carries himself as a military officer would on duty, his bearing is noble and his walk determined. Black hair, brown eyes. Looking older than his age suggests. Caalin has been around, well-traveled across the galaxy, suffering from leathery skin from periods of stress and allergies.
Chapter 0 - Early Biography:
Caalin’s father Kaneth Tavross served at the battle of Pabol Hutta against the Sith Empire, along with various conflicts over the years all the way since the Silver Jedi’s move from Voss. He too was there as a first officer, but long before this, he had spent his youth on Commenor among the many shipping yards and trading firms of his rich homeworld. Not enjoying being a merchant in the slightest, Caalin soon joined the local navy cadets and from a very young age expressed a desire for command.
His first ship was a frigate named Jidbug, after a tangy drink. Not much to look at, and the mockery of some, but he loved it. An old frigate on its last legs barely holding it together, you could feel the turns and engines, the hum of it ever-present. You never forget your first ship and no matter what chair you sit in after that, part of you is always there.
Caalin’s first name is something he doesn’t like people using. His family line goes back a lot of years, and they feel the name Kaneth Tavross is more important than their forename. Karn Tavross and Kaneth Tavross once served a long time ago in the republic, hundreds of years before this recent period of galactic strife. Karn was a gun nut, a wild green marine, and Kaneth was an admiral who was his polar opposite, they hated and loved each other, side by side. These days the Tavross name is more widespread as they have a big family, and not all of them are on the right side of the law. Some are associated with the current Triad and Underworld conflicts brewing between organized crime families, something he is vexed to hear rumors of.
Despite his condition making him look older than he is, Caalin's diet is pretty good, he doesn’t eat a lot, doesn’t have many vices, and generally keeps quiet and to himself out of galactic affairs. His orders, ship, his crew, and often a good book at the end of the day. Sometimes a brandy, but never on duty! That sums him up well, you'll rarely find him on shore leave and almost always walking the corridors of a ship inspecting it or talking to its captain.
