Shield projection (to a much smaller area than the original)
Shield emitter module.
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To bring back a relatively old piece of deflector shield technology with a new sort of flare.
- Image Source: Sky Shield module from the game Planetside 2 (video game).
- Canon Link: Gungan Shield Generator
- Primary Source: Gungan Shield Generator , Impervium , Duraplast , Diatium Power Cell
- Manufacturer: Valdus Bral
- Affiliation: Valdus Bral, Closed Market
- Model: N/A
- Modularity: No
Production: Limited
- Material: Impervium shell, Duraplast inner shell, deflector shield components, Diatium Power Cell
- Portable deflector shield module that can cover a large amount of space
- Adjustable shield diameter and height
- Emitter module is highly resistant to kinetic damage, energy based damage, and resistant against Ion & EMP damage.
- Emitter dimensions: 1m H x 1m W
- Emitted shield is extremely resistant to blaster and other energy based attacks
- Emitted shield's diameter and height can be adjusted via the emitter module (max height: 6m, max diameter: 15m)
- Emitter module has a double shell that provides high resistance against all forms of standard damage types (physical, blaster, ion, EMP, sonic, and cold)
- Emitter module weighs roughly 40kg (88lbs)
- Power Cells can be replaced in the field, however it takes time.
- Does nothing to stop physical projectiles
- Infantry and other physical objects can pass through the barrier unharmed
- Runs on large Diatium Energy Cell: 5 hours of operation
- If the emitter is targeted by consistent heat based weaponry or excessive amounts of other damage types, the Power Cell may explode
- Emitter module weighs roughly 40kg (88lbs) and therefore is barely considered mobile to standard infantry
The key to victory is not only a destructive offense, but also a rock solid defense. In order to provide cover from common aircraft, artillery, and infantry energy-based munitions, Valdus Bral researched battlefield deflector shields. Coming across an old piece of technology, the Gungan Shield Generator, it seemed perfect. However, due to Valdus Bral's lack of large beasts of burden, there had to be a way to cut down on the size and practical barriers to using this piece of technology. After many months of toying around with deflector shield simulations, Valdus was able to create a design that brought the same level of protection at a much more reduced weight and condensed package. However, this improvement did not come without drawbacks. Due to the size of the emitter and the single Power Cell receiver, the shield is no where near the size as the original Gungan Shield Generator.
Valdus hopes this will be used to provide cover for infantry and light vehicles as they defend strategic objectives. Technically the shield can be moved on a vehicle, just as the Gungan Shield Generators were transported on the backs of beasts. However, vehicles would likely benefit from a deflector shield that did not have to have its batteries changed every few hours.
