OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
- Intent: To create an elite new Sith unit to adapt to the changing times
- Role: The Cadavarii are meant to be elite skirmishers, deployed in defense operations to disable enemy artillery, target command posts, or break-up enemy lines through surprise and heavy counter-assault.
- Permissions: Corondex Arms (Permission)
- Links: Sith Subterranean Citadels
- Unit Name: Cadavarii Shock Companies
- Affiliation: Darth Aagenti, The Sith Empire
- Classification: Counter-Offensive Shock Troopers
- Description: A Cadavarius is most noticeably picked out by the high inclusion of white markings amongst the normally black Legionnaire armor, and the unique helmets that they wear which are built in with more advanced rebreathers, and inscribed with a geometric skull-like pattern over the face of the helmet. The armor of a Cadavarius is often heavier, with more detailed and sharper elbow and knee guards, albeit with a far more slim fit then the armor of other heavy assault soldiers.
- Unit Size: Small
- Unit Availability: Rare
- Unit Experience: Veteran
- Equipment: DC-17m Blaster Rifle, SE-4 Automatic Ion Pistol, Sith-Imperial Tenebrae Pattern Commando Armor Mk.I, Thermal Imploder
- Combat Function: The Cadavarii are stationed within various tunnels, mines, or causeways beneath cities or strategic locations, most notably stationed within Sith Subterranean Citadels beneath major Sith settlements in the core Sith planets. When such locations are in danger of a significant enemy force, the Cadavarii are fed intel on the rough locations of key enemy offenses in the battle, and move hidden through the ground until exiting through sewer entrances, ravine holes, or various other underground exits, often employing the use of explosives to cause sudden chaos and provide a brief moment of cover until they fully exit and engage the enemy. Relying on DC-17m’s as their weapons of choice, Cadavarii are able to engage in several different situations due to the versatility of the systems, often targeting infantry pushes or, more often, enemy artillery (thanks to anti-vehicle grenades and Thermal Imploders). While on the field, a Cadavarii squadron will most often rely on urban, guerilla tactics to take out infantry, either getting into buildings or drawing enemies down into tunnels and passages.
- High Skill, High Efficiency: A Cadavarius soldier is often hand-picked from the most willing and veteran soldiers of the legion, so even before training a Cadavarius has experience in the field, and have more than shown their mettle in the face of war. The training of the company only helps to build the sense of unity amongst Cadavarii, preparing them to act without hesitation against forces several times their number, and repel enemy assaults.
- Broadsword Approach: The Cadavarii are a counter-offensive Force, able to be deployed and strike without the enemy having any chance to truly prepare for them, and having the tools to break through the armor of heavier opponents. The greatest strength of a Cadavarii Company is it’s versatility to take on almost any type of foe in any type of situation, ranging from infantry, to vehicles, to artillery. Gear supplied by the Empire also enables the Cadavarii to operate in situations that others would have trouble in, including underwater, in places without air, and in situations that would seem unorthodox and hard to operate within.
- Sudden Skirmishers: Part of a Cadavarii’s training is knowledge of the ins and outs of where they’re deployed, and thanks to the new infrastructure of Sith Subterreanean Citadels, they’re able to move through entire cities with unparalleled ease, dipping through city streets, alleyways, and underground tunnels to strike a fighting force from almost every direction they last could’ve expected, even from right beneath their feet. A Cadavarius is still a Commando-class trooper, but paired with proper training and the right infrastructure, they become expert skirmishers and counter-attackers.
- Slow Recovery: While it doesn’t take too long to bolster troops in the Sith Empire thanks to cloning techniques, Cadavarii are always chosen from veteran soldiers, and so it’s quite a measure harder for them to be replaced, as they then need to be re-trained to the new skill-set required by the company. The death of a whole company can lead to a rather lengthy absence from a battlefield, as new soldiers must be retrained and done so in secret.
- Unprepared for Force Users: While adaptive, the company doesn’t fair much better against Force Users compared to other infantry squadrons of their caliber, and are able to be effectively countered by a powerful Sith or Jedi, and are also vulnerable to the influence, manipulation, and control originating from Force powers.
- Small Numbers: While potent, there is no more than a single company ever present at a strategic location that requires defense, which heavily limits just how effective the Cadavarii can be without proper backup from other regiments of soldiers. In short, the Cadavarii are not the main brunt of a fight - they’re a support system meant to be used to disable staunch positions, not to be relied upon as the sole source of victory.
With the development of “Project: Citadel” Darth Aagenti began to trace new ideas for just how to manage these stations, eventually deciding upon using trained Commando-Skirmishers as the ones who’d most benefit from the construction of Subterranean Citadels. When the construction of these military stations went underway, another program began to be employed, headed by Aagenti. This program, disguised as Aagenti gathering soldiers for his own personal Sith Legion, was in reality the first recruitment program for the second phase of “Project: Citadel.”
The main source of soldiers came from the Legions present at Ronion during the Network’s attempted invasion of Mandalore, whom Aagenti had fought with and firsthand seen the strength of. Behind private eyes and only known to the heads of the Empire and the military chain, these normal Legionaries were trained into Commando soldiers, supplied with powerful armor and using modified versions of the ancient albeit potent DC-17m Blaster Rifle (and its configuration system). Trained in the use of rapid deployment from below ground to surface through the use of explosives, heavier armor, and automatic rigs, the name “Cadavarii,” or “Corpse Fighter,” was suggested initially as a joke, but it stuck as the soldiers began to work in tandem, learning the streets of the city as well as the dead once knew them.
As “Project: Citadel” was beginning to reach the ends of its completion and the New Imperial Order became more and more of a threat, the Cadavarii Companies were deployed now only in the Citadels, but in other places in Sith space as well that were prone to invasion and had systems like sewers, caves, and ravines to hide soldiers within. Not having seen full battle yet, the Cadavarii Companies, overseen by Darth Aagenti himself, have helped quell numerous tiny incidents within major cities, as the first taste of battle for many of the soldiers in weeks, and as training exercises to keep their minds sharp and ready for invasions to come.
