Cademimu Thread

Background:
A Sith-Imperial Scientist attached to the secretive "Project Triumph" supposedly defected from TSE not long ago, fleeing Sith Imperial space and taking refuge on Cademimu. Sith Inquisitors pursue him quietly, attempting to stifle any rumors of his existence and to keep the inner workings of their Planet-Killer secret from the galaxy so that they might continue to refine the concept. Fearing being recaptured, the Scientist hid within the Quarantine Zone while searching for allies he might be able to rely on.

Setting:
Cademimuhttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Cademimu_V is an Ecumenopolis choked with smog and pollution, however it has been independent since the Netherworld Rapture. With the Sith Empire so close to the system, Governor Versio Kenchov has taken on Imperial Ideals and manifestos in the hopes of being allowed to keep his position when the Empire does attempt to annex his star system. Thus, many of the Cademium Guard now sport Stormtrooper armor and weaponry and the Capital Sector has been renamed the Imperial Sector sporting Imperial banners. However much of the planet enjoys its independence and he has become increasingly unpopular, devolving into little more than a military dictator. Orbit has now become home to several Imperial-style Star Destroyers and cruisers, and Sith are now allowed on the planet with impunity, though few have taken interest thus far.

The Lower Levels are the stereotypical Coruscant Underground found on the already lawless outer rim. The Imperial Supporters have cracked down in an attempt to appear as though they control the planet, but it remains largely independent. If it can be found, it can always be found in Cademimu. Some of the Lower Levels are in open rebellion against the Governor, fighting against Imperial Fanatics and Cademium Stormtroopers in an attempt to maintain their relative freedom.

The Quarantine Zone is a massive portion of the Planet (Think European Country Sized) that has been sectioned off with walls, collapsed buildings, chasms, canyons, and energy barriers as parts of it have been overrun with Rakghouls. It was constructed years ago as a way to stop the spread of the plague, and while successful in doing so, it also left a large population of unaffected civilians trapped within the ghetto to survive on their own. Most of the Quarantine Zone is a ghetto for the living and poor, swaths or ruins and radiation zones, swamps filled with waste and pollution, and nests of Rakghouls are common within the area. Several shanty towns and outposts have been erected since the Ghetto was quarantined, and while some are aligned together in a loose organization just as many are independent. Supplies are hard to come by, and most people go to bed hungry and thirty every day.

It is easy to hide there and Imperials only make forays into the Ghetto when considered absolutely necessary to clear out a Nest. The sky above it is restricted air space, and a Star Destroyer hovers within the smog filled clouds above the country-sized ghetto. Smugglers have several access points into the Zone, through gaps in the rubble, sewer entrances, or across gaping chasms, but it is considered well guarded and heavily patrolled. All those who enter are technically forbidden to leave. Living conditions are understandably terrible, though some doctors and scientists choose to enter the zone to study or attempt to cure the Rakghouls within.

An inoculation exists which supposedly provides resistance to the disease that Imperials are injected with before making forays within that could be found on the black market in the Lower Levels.

Plot:
The Team, consisting of a small group with very little support must enter the system and find the Defector alive, or prevent him from being recaptured by the Sith Empire. The goal is to enter the Quarantine Zone and track down the Defector inside the ghetto, retrieve him, and get back into space. Being too obvious or loud about our intentions would likely draw more Sith Imperial Opposition, and given the size of the Empire's military and the importance of the Defector, they could devote far more resources to his recapture than Firemane or the Resistance could hope to contend with.

Getting Planet Side will easy enough with false IDs provided by RESINT or Firemane's Intelligence equivalent as necessary, but getting into the Quarantine Zone will take some sneaking on our part. Shouldn't be impossible, maybe a little bit of bribing involved.

The Characters will likely encounter Sith Inquisitors, at least one of which would be important and skillful since the team was entrusted with such a sensitive mission. Sith Harrowershttp://starwars.wikia.com/wiki/Harrower_assassin may also accompany the group, as well as small numbers of the Stromtrooper Militia the local planetary Governor has raised. Within the QZ there are warlords, stranded pirates, basic criminal scum, Sith Imperial Fanatics, and of course Rakghouls which can oppose us as desired.

I'm looking to have a solid adventure, but I'm pretty open on the endgame here. My personal goal is for Laira to have to make some difficult choices along the way and adopt a liddle beby, but I'm not rigid on the overall storyline.
