- Name: Calamazi
- Designation: Non-Sentient
- Origins:
- Average Lifespan: 5-10 naturally, possibly longer aided by the force
- Estimated Population: Semi-Unique
- Description: The Calamazi are a variety of Sithspawn created by the Keepers of the Sith Code as heavy soldiers, created from darkside mutations of a Mon Calamari. Standing quite larger than a normal Mon Calamari, Calamazi are muscular, hulking creatures with the same leathery skin as their creatures of origin. The protruding eyes of the Mon Calamari are shrunken in proportion to the enlarged heads of the Calamazi, from which spikes extend down the creatures back. The creatures mouth is filled to the brim with very sharp teeth designed for maximum carnage.
- Breathes: Type I, Water
- Average Height of Adults: 2-2.2 meters
- Average Length of Adults: N/A
- Skin color: Grey, Black, Brown, Dark Green, Dark Blue
- Hair color: Hairless
- Distinctions: Males and females are difficult to distinguish, but like the Mon Calamari the males have chin barbels that grow with age.
- Races: None
- Force Sensitivity: High
- Sharp Teeth: Calamazi's extremely sharp and numerous teeth are designed for mauling and maximum carnage.
- Amphibious: The creatures are naturally amphibious and can breathe unaided in water.
- Dumb: The Calamazi are far from having the galaxy renowned intellect of the Mon Calamari. Their mutation causes them to become slow and unthinking, rarely being able to formulate strategy or feelings beside primal rage.
- Short Lived: The beasts are cursed with an extremely shorty lifespan, due to the darkside energy that created them eventually consuming them and killing them.
- Diet: Carnivore
- Communication: The Calamazi communicate through a combination of body language and extremely broken Mon Calamari language. Their grasp of the language is not lost, but their changed physiology and stunted mental capacity make speaking very difficult, but possible with some practice. Other languages they knew before transformation may still be spoken on a case by case basis determined by the fluency they had and the difficulty of the language. The rare few who show a continued grasp of language and reasoning skills are often allowed to lead other smaller groups of Calamazi.
- Technology level: Since the Calamazi are monstrous Sithspawn, their grasp of technology is extremely poor. It's not impossible for them to wield rudimentary melee weapons, but due to their size, warped physiques, and lack of intellect it's impossible for them to utilize blasters, star ships, or computers.
- Religion/Beliefs: While reasoning and some higher thinking is rare to Calamazi, they lack the ability to conceptualize such things as religion or belief in a higher power.
- General behavior: Created and bred to kill in the name of the Sith, the Calamazi act as such. General behavior is animalistic and as such they are often caged when outside of battle.
The Calamazi were created by Derleth Par in the Library-Temple of Krayiss II from a Mon Calamari prisoner he had brought to the world. Renowned warriors on both land and sea, renowned thinkers, and common in the galaxy, the Mon Calamari were proposed as the first species to be experimented on by the Keepers of the Sith Code. Kidnapping one for experiments proved both easier and cheaper than finding a wild beast to transform, like in typical sith fashion.
The use of alchemy on a person however was not unheard of, even if it was rarer. The Sith species had created monstrous versions of themselves in ancient times, known as the Massassi. The Massassi served as the precedent for the experiments conducted by Derelth and the Zugurak Artificer's Guild.
