[ + ] Child Mage (Magic Knight) - An example of the Action Hero or Bare-Fisted Monk variety, Calix is definitely not destined to be a Jedi Consular by any stretch of the imagination. If he doesn't fall to the Dark Side, the Jedi Guardians will be glad that he's on their side.
[ + ] Weak, but Skilled (Combat Pragmatist) - Athletically gifted, though possessed of the normal strength of a boy, Calix makes up for his lack of brains with sheer talent. He's bright enough to follow a plan but isn't going to be the pick for team captain as his approach to strategy tends to be to go find a larger hammer to hit the obstacle with. He's an example of a Bruiser.
[+/-] Blood Knight (Determinator) - Calix demonstrates the Echani custom of combat and communication being one-in-the-same. Thus, to Calix, it is not possible to know someone until you have fought them. At the same time, Calix enjoys a challenge or opponent that pushes the limits of what he believes himself capable of.
[+/-] Moral Event Horizon (It’s All My Fault) - The death of Jedi Master Harand serves as Calix's moral anchor. Prior to that, he never cared what anyone thought about the prophecy. Now, he strives to be the kind of person that his master wanted him to be.
[ - ] The Berserker (Force Rage) - Anger and fear are both strong in him, connecting him to the Dark Side in ways he doesn't understand or is even conscious of. This can, and will, send him into a blind fury where there is no compassion, no mercy, only rage. When consumed by the Dark Side, Calix's eyes take on a yellow hue.
[ - ] Fatal Flaws (Pride/Hot-Blooded) - As much as Calix represents some of the best qualities of the Thyrsian people, he also possesses many of their flaws in equal measure.

Calix of Thyrsus was born to Xiphos Zan Soranus and his wife, Venus Solara, sometime before the New Imperial Order established Imperial control of Thyrsus, liberating it from the influence of the Sith Empire under Darth Carnifex. Thus, the Thyrsus that his family knew was plagued by the deceit of the Sith and their pursuit for greater power. They were descendants of the once-proud Sun Guard, but in life had much more humble professions. His father was a navigator on a super freighter and his mother was a blacksmith.
Not knowing what had happened to his father, the Jedi of the Galactic Alliance happened across Calix's mother cradling a babe in her arms when responding to a distress call on a transport ship that was under attack by the Sith-aligned pirates known as the Burning Chain. Calix, then only an infant, and his mother were brought to Coruscant for medical care, but his mother succumbed to her wounds. So orphaned, identifying the boy as Force Sensitive, the decision was made to raise him alongside the New Jedi Order -- an antiquated approach not normally taken outside of the Silver Jedi or those who follow the ways of the Old Republic.
That is what Calix has been told and it's all true, from a certain point of view.
In truth, Calix was born to Xiphos Zan Soranus and Venus Solara, both members of the Sun Guard serving the Sith Empire. Both were active members and officers of the Sith Imperial garrison established to enforce control of Dantooine, battling against the Jedi during the joint NIO-GA campaign to liberate that world. When the dust and ashes of that conflict had cooled, there were countless refugees and children in need of homes. By either coincidence or fate (or the will of the Force), a Jedi discovered a disoriented, malnourished, and hungry young boy wandering barefoot on the planet. Along with whatever pity that the Jedi may have felt for the lad, he also could sense the Force in him.
So he came to Coruscant, and the rest is history -- however one chooses to tell it.
When he was ten, playing in the Jedi Temple, a visiting Jedi Master was suddenly presented with a vision. A terrible prophecy, that this child would bring a terrible fate that saw a world enshrouded in fire, while the red run of Thyrsus rose over the smoking ruins of the Jedi.
Suffice to say, Calix found himself at the center of much debate about the Force, the future, and the question of Free Will. Some saw the boy as a direct threat that needed to be dealt with, while others believed the best course of action was to simply cut ties and prevent any further training of the boy. Among that discourse, one voice emerged above the others. A Jedi Knight by the name of Jaa Harand. Like the Jedi of old, he took the boy under his tutelage as his padawan learner. To train him as best he could, to be the best Jedi that he could, and then let fate fall where it may.
Calix was eleven when he and Master Harand had set out toward the Outer Rim on a mission that would carry them far from their home in the Galactic Alliance, on a quest to obtain a rare herb that could be distilled into a medicine for an outbreak of illness afflicting Khomm. It took them six months to even make it to the Outer Rim, to where they could even begin their journey toward Binaros, where this flower was believed to grow.
On a transport ship ferrying them from Denab, Master and Padawan found themselves sold out to bounty hunters looking to collect a pair of Jedi lightsabers. The fight was brutal and bloody. By the time it was over, Calix lay unconscious in an escape pod with his master's broken lightsaber in his hand. The escape pod crashed down on the planet Praesitlyn, where the padawan's adventure continues...
Obi-Wan Kenobi once said ‘your eyes can deceive you, don’t trust them.’ It seems to be getting harder.
Distinguishing reality from the illusions people make for us, or the ones we make for ourselves.
