The One Sith? The Sith Empire?
There wasn't much difference when it came to their aftermath. Sure, during their respective "glory days", they ran themselves differently. However, when you have that many Sith and that many Imperials...a nation falling apart typically turned into a dog fight. Now, there would always be that majority that preferred to fade into obscurity so that a return could be staged. But in this case? Warlords. Admirals and other big names taking their fleets and running wild across their former territories.
That's what I had been hired to deal with.
And man...I had bitten off more than I could chew.
At first, the job had seemed to be an open and shut case. Take the Destroyers purchased by the yocals and drive the arrogant karker out of the system. He, one Vice-Admiral Sika, was supposedly flying solo in this particular corner of the Galaxy. There wasn't a grand coalition having his back – instead, there was just the remnants of a badly battered battle group. With what we had, the odds seemed to be heavily stacked in our favor. Boy, were we wrong there.
Regardless, we came in like a motherkarkin' wrecking ball.
Tore through his ships, boarded the lead vessel, and skirmished it out across the halls. Pushed them back to the bridge in no time flat. That's when desperation set in, I suppose. Sika ejected the escape pods and sent the ship on a one-way trip to the planet below. But that wasn't even the fun part. We dug in, of course. Did what we could to get as many of us off the death trap as possible. Those that remained...well, we were in for a bumpy as Kark ride.
We crashed. We burned. I don't even know how or why I'm still breathing.
But even now, as messed up as I was, I still wasn't "karked" yet. No, that part was coming fast. You see, we thought Sika was all on his lonesome, right? Thought that he didn't have any backup, thought that what we saw there was all the capital support to his name. Nope. Not even close. Backup came screaming outta Hyperspace and started lighting up the local Destroyers. What's more, they started sending ships to the ground to see how many survived Sika's crash.
Which brings us to right now.
Guys. I don't know if you'll get this, or if you'll get here in time, but. I need you. Don't know how long we'll hold out. If I die...kark...make 'em pay.
Maverick out.
