Cocked, Locked and a Smoking Barrel
Recently me and [member="Astarii Saren"] have been brainstorming a idea for a caseless round, pulse-powered battle rifle to be wielded by the Galactic Alliance Marine Corp in tandem with Astarii's AMAZING power armor sub. But we've ran into a few problems and I thought why keep it between us when we could open it to the whole faction? So I'll start by listing out the problems we've run into:
- The ammo itself: Me and Astarii are thinking of something in a 10mm to 12mm caseless rifle cartridge. The problem is the caseless cartridge. We want to make it half-sized than usual round so we need a propellant with three times the power, the three times the power for a half-sized round is to have a extra amount of muzzle velocity for more damage and piercing capability. We need a propellant that can do that and not muck up the internal workings. Another thing we need to work on is trying to convert the Bolter ammo we use, at least some of the Pyre Old Guard, to a smaller round.
- We need to figure a way to dissipate the heat that this weapon is gonna produce. Whether it be a internal heat sink or a type of passive venting system that vents heat. We also need a type of material that can withstand high heats.
