Campaign with the Galactic Allaince

Hey everyone,

Just recently I've been in communication with [member="Coren Starchaser"]'s writer, he and I have been discussing the possibility of doing a campaign with the recently founded Galactic Alliance.

Right now what the Primeval needs is a nemesis, and what better than a faction whose founding principles is to say "no more" to the domineering, darkside factions. Certainly the One Sith would be a good bet for them as well, but we enter a unique circumstance with this... The GA is not near us. They're on the opposite side of the map.

That allows us to focus on conflict that is purely story driven, and not map driven. We're aiming for a well-written storyline that allows meaningful decisions to be made in events and situations that offer an almost cinematic experience for us to toss our characters into. By cooperating on a campaign, rather than small skirmishes or invasions, we can write our conflict rather than perceive it through rules and terms.

Thus we can have conflicts on epic scales, scenarios that include espionage and diplomacy, and all sorts of affairs that normally aren't seen in faction v.s. faction roleplay.

Who's interested?

Back to business, [member="Anja Aj'Rou"] I really like the concept and would be interested in participating. One question though, is this going to be one big group thread or will there be a handful of different encounters?

In my opinion, large scale conflicts can become confused by too many side activities.

Don't get me wrong I'm all for throwing ten plus writers into a city to beat on one another but that isn't something most slicers/smugglers/politicians can easily involve themselves in.

*facepalm*

Sorry, I'm posting from mobile, and my phone sucks. Bad.

What I meant to ask was how will this conflict with our war against the Mandos, GR, and SSC? Will it mean or less dominions? Will it mean less skirmishes with those factions to make room for GA? That sort of thing.

It'll be a campaign.

Essentially there are three tiers of faction vs faction interaction.

Campaign>Invasion>Skirmish (although campaigns can be solo, too)

think of a campaign was a mini-event involving a few factions. You set up your own rules, your own period of time, and usually you have multiple threads. Not always at the same time. The idea is you're building a story, there's no planets being won or lost and all the changes are whatever the factions choose them to be. So for example... One faction might make a campaign with another faction where they have to destroy each other's factories. So ICly, they lose production, and the rewards might be that you get to steal each other's tech.

Since everything is decided on mutually, there's no bad blood or drama because someone is forced to fight the other guys.
