And where were the spiders
There were certain companies that for whatever reason, just appealed to Marek Starchaser. He was the kind of Foreman who enjoyed making deals, and networking, just something about it all felt like the thing to do. He also enjoyed searching what information he could off of people, and use the contacts he had to keep business into companies he could trust. Of course, unless they had some sort of mental block, like Incom, as long as credits were given out, he didn’t see any reason to pull contracts apart.

And this company, Apoleia, it just seemed like something he’d enjoy working with. Taking up his HoloNet Transceiver in the Dark Tide, he really needed to talk to Sasha about creating something a little roomier, to work as a mobile meeting hall, and base of opertions, he typed up a simple correspondance.

To Whom it May Concern:
My name is Marek Starchaser, Foreman of the Techno Union in the Confederacy of Independent Systems. I’ve come across your company and would like to discuss a business transaction for a class of droids you might find interesting to work on. If you would like to discuss more, I’d be more than happy to meet with you at a location of your choosing.

Regards,
M. Starchaser
Foreman

Anaya could have sent any fool to handle this deal, but she did not trust her delegates to be open minded and resourceful enough to make the best out of it. CIS was at war, it was important that this matter was handled carefully, she , after all dealt with all nations if she could. The last thing she wanted would be to end up cut off from a large portion of space because she made something for the wrong team.

Dear Mr Starchaser,

I thank you for reaching out to Apoleia Inc, we are always happy to discuss transactions. We have an establishment on Ryloth, I will arrange for a private room to be set up for us to go through the droid specific. I look forward to meeting you.

Sincerley,
Lady Apoleia
CEO

Anaya sank into the arm chair with a sigh, feeling like it was the first time she'd sat down for weeks. She was pushing the boundaries of her physical and mental capabilities trying to keep her business expanding and making off the record deal to sell information. She had all of five minutes before her guest was due to arrive. Brushing over her skirt she checked that the datapads and holoprojectors were all working.

On Marek's arrival to the casino he would be greeted by the manager of the establishment and led through the casino and into a back room, its entrance flanked by security guards whose beady eyes drank in every details that passed them.

Sending these types of things up the latter was how he liked to deal with it. Marek Starchaser was a Sith-in-Training, after being Knighted by the former Templar Order, and becoming a Master sometime between the founding of the Knights Obsidian, he kept the new bit of training under wraps. Granted he did have a set of friends he trusted, even if they weren’t friends, but still, they were the best people he met so far.

He sent a thank you message out to Lady Apoleia, not the least bit surprised that a CEO had contacted him. Really, being a CEO himself of a droid company, it was almost expected. Was that bad of him to feel that way? Anyway, it seemed he was making a trip to Ryloth.

Casinos were the best cover, and he was almost envious of this company. It had freedom, and it wasn’t like anything he was running. It was nice. Plus, dens of sin were his favorite thing. He was working on keeping his Force signature so neutral, a way to make it so people didn’t suspect where he was learning.

Being escorted was nice, and as he stepped into the room, he spoke. “Lady Apoleia, I appreciate you clearing time for meeting with me.”

Anaya looked up and smiled, rising smoothly to her feet. She made no attempt to hide what she was, she spent too much of her time pretending she was something she wasn't. Her business allowed her to be herself in everything but name. Stepping forward she extended a hand for Marek to shake. "Mr. Starchaser, its a pleasure." She gestured to one of the arm chairs. "I can always find time for potential business partners. Can I get you anything to drink?"

The manager, offered her a bow as she waved him away, shutting the doors behind them. Moving to a cabinet in the corner, Anaya's fingers curled round a crystal decanter as she began to pour a glass of wine. She would pour a second if Marek requested it, before handing him the drink and settling into the chair opposite him.

"Now, what can I do for the Confederacy?"

Right, a Twi’lek. That was fine. Marek had a thing against fuzzy aliens, or Yuuzhan Vong, that was for sure, but not Twi’leks. Maybe it was from all the holovids he watched as a child, he wasn’t sure what it was, but they didn’t bother him. And her red? That was a nice color. Stepping closer, he took her hand. “If you’re offering, sure, I won’t turn a glass down.”

Taking a seat as soon as Lady Apoleia did, he nodded, taking a sip of the wine. “I’ve been watching your company. I’ve got a request that I feel you may be able to fulfill.” He had a datacard in his pocket, should he need it. “Are you familiar with Droidekas?”

Anaya smiled. "I am." she replied before taking a sip of her wine. "They are an old favourtie of the Feds if i'm not mistaken. Quick to get into position, pack a punch and at the time of their creation, provided a nuisance to the Jedi." She shrugged "They had some serious flaws though."

She set the glass down on a small table beside her. "I assume, that you are looking to recreate these 'destroyers' as they were so aptly named."

The Starchaser grinned and nodded, taking the glass of his wine. A quick sip as she spoke was followed by another nod. “More a shock unit. I’d like to make something that is equally surprising and effective. And we’re not just targeting Jedi.” They were targeting everyone who came at the CIS. Or whoever was buying the droids. He knew a lot of people who might want something that was able to repel Force users and their frelling lightsabers.

Flaws, however, yes, they did have those. Marek could already tell that Lady Apoleia had an idea in her head. “I would love to see those rebuilt. Is that something your company would be able to manage?”

[OOC: so sorry! got caught up in other stuff!]

Fingers drummed on the side of her chair for a moment and she pursed her lips in thought. There were a few rough designs that she could adjust to fit this, the question was how much were the Feds willing to give her.

"Oh, I think we'd be able to manage fine. Before Is start playing with ideas, what are you placing on the table?"

That was the thing, Marek Starchaser was not an engineer. He was noticing it more and more in the galaxy, he wasn't in his right place. But still, it might cost more to outsource, but having BlasTech and Santhe on his side, that helped save some of the money, and the latter company was definitely a strong producer for the Confederacy. Still, the need for specialized groups was a thing. "For designs? I'm not really an engineer. I'd appreciate something reminiscent, so the targets know what they're up against. How long would you need to begin drafting a few designs?"

Because choice was nice, but really, function over form here. Marek took a sip of his drink before surveying Lady Apoelia.

Anaya chuckled. "No, Mister Starchaser. I don't need you to assist with design. Give me a day and I will have something for you." she brushed the matter of design to one side.

"What I wanted to know is what you and and the Feds are going to offer in return for the production of these droids." She crossed her leg and brought the wine glass to her lips, eyes glittering with amusement as she watched him over the rim.

Now that was what he was hoping to hear. He wasn’t sure what he was feeling in the Force with this person, but he really was hoping that they could work together. He knew a bit about the industry, and while he wasn’t an engineer, approving and denying something was at least something he could do.

Grinning, he nodded. “Well, we do have access to a cortosis mine, for a bit of a financial discount, we can clear you for peaceful operations on the world. So long as you don’t bring war with you, or strip mine the planet. And don’t let word I’m doing this travel anywhere else.” He didn’t need the galaxy knocking on his doorstep.
