LOCATION INFORMATION
alexandr-m-ice-village-location-1-c9769515-hi9j.jpg

  • Capital City: Asoport
  • Planetary Features: Cities and towns carved into the mountains or span through the forests with an emphasis to preserve the integrity of the landscape as much as possible. Primarily, the cities are constructed of durasteel, though in Asoport especially, the local ice and glaciers are utilized as well. The majority of the settlements, as well as processing facilities, are connected via a monorail system, though there are a couple of exclusions to the network. Carlac also houses Icefall Academy and Arcpool; a Force Mastery school and military academy respectively. Biodomes are a common sight across the frozen expanses, as climate control is utilized heavily in the growth of crops.

A major refinery spanning underground, Nova Vox, serves to process and refine the planet’s greatest export, fuel. This plant occupies a space of 20km beneath the surface and lays buried beneath an otherwise unsettled stretch of icy plains. Noticeably, when standing over the facility, the frozen ground seems to hum and vibrate beneath one’s feet.
  • Major Locations:
    Asoport -
    junton-lee-.jpg

In the largest mountain range on the surface of the world, Asoport was constructed, utilizing as much of the geography to the effort’s advantage as possible to not only minimize the damage done to the landscape but to reduce the risk and dangers of living in such an unforgiving environment.

The surrounding glaciers are carved and sculpted to act as natural barriers and walls around the fringes of the sprawling city, shielding the residents and structures from the worst of the icy winds and weather. A city of progressive, technological advancement, Asoport is a place of commerce, development, and the only real place of luxury on the planet. Its structures are tall and resilient, built out of durasteel and ice with the intent to weather the elements of higher elevation. Despite the cold exterior, Asoport maintains living conditions rather well. Neon aesthetics illuminate the darkness of the night and during the daylight hours, the roofs of structures glisten and gleam with the reflecting surface of solar collectors. The streets and walkways, as well as mono railings are kept heated with energy harvested from the solar collectors, aiding in the efforts to keep ice under control. The tops of each of the taller structures sport a shield generator to be activated in sequence in case of emergencies such as avalanches, smothering blizzards, or even mild aerial assault. This city spans below ground, and beneath can be found a variety of entertainment accommodations such as casinos, venues, shopping strips, and restaurants, as well as the slummier portions of the city.

Asoport is also the home of the primary monorail station and the end-of-the-line for many of the trains departing from other settlements on the planet.
Overall, the city holds quite the pulse and hum of life, and despite its rather frigid location, is often bustling with inhabitants making it quite easy to slip through the crowds or get lost.

    Icorith -
    kevin-jick-snow-base-kj.jpg

A durasteel fortress of militaristic glory, this is primarily where most of the troops and their barracks lie. Icorith is nestled at the base of the mountain span which houses Asoport, allowing for the rapid response of troops to not only deploy across the planet’s surface to confront possible dangers to the capital, and rapid-access to the hangars for planetary disembarkment when the call for such arises. Icorith is also home to Phol station, which all incoming aircraft must land and be cleared for further travel on the planet, and where departures from the planet typically occur.

    Srares -
    mountain%2Bcitadel%2Bsmall.jpg

A stone and wooden city located in the fringes of the forest. A place mostly dedicated to scholarly pursuit and study, Srares rests on top of Icefall Academy, the underground school constructed to teach Force Sensitives a wide variety of skills and pertinent information. Residents of Srares include the students of the academy, their Masters and teachers, scholars, and researchers alike.

    Deles -
    shane_madden_enviroment_7.jpg

A smaller town located a moderate distance from the capital and one of few to remain disconnected via a monorail network. It houses Carlac’s most notorious cantina and as such, has become a haven for bounty hunters, smugglers, and criminals alike. The law is a bit lax here, with the planetary police force finding it rather easy to look the other way for very minor violations. The surrounding lands are mostly flat and have been cleared on the outskirts of the city to allow ease of access for aircraft and ships.

    Arcpool -
    underground_city_by_nkabuto_d46lfu4-fullview.jpg

The name given to the aforementioned underground military academy city located in the fringes of the far North, where the environment is the harshest. This academy in particular specializes in conditioning for pre-existing troopers and the training of special operations and shock trooper units. Entry to Arcpool is granted via access-controlled doors feeding into tunnels cut into the mountain face. This academy focuses not only on military skills and tactics, but teaches war theory, emphasizes strategy, and history.

    Dreka -
    snowy_village_by_sebastianwagner_d6190af-fullview.jpg

The Ming Po village which was previously established on the planet. The natives still refer to it how they will, however documentation and the inhabitants of the planet may call it by the name Lord Halketh coined for it. The native Ming Po people are hesitant around outsiders and may not trust all of them- Mandalorians in particular after the events perpetrated by the Death Watch on the planet after their arrival and establishment there. It remains disconnected via monorail network at the request of the villagers, in order to preserve their cultural distinction and isolation.

    Aoron -
    urban-mclafferty-soeliveenvart-biolab.jpg

Nestled on the snowy plains at the foot of Asoport, Aoron is the location of the civilization’s primary agriculture. Massive bio-domes constructed of reinforced glass aid in the environmental control to warm temperatures enough for the crops to grow. Much like the gleaming city above, Aoron is powered primarily through solar collectors. The total span of Aoron is nearly 30km of nothing but massive, domed constructs, greenhouses, their grazing livestock counterparts, and the necessary processing facilities.

    Nova Vox -
    d5vqjgu-a5398160-b82e-465b-8edf-ebdc68907b07.jpg

As mentioned previously, the efforts in harvesting the vast array of resources from Carlac’s lands resulted in the need for refining and processing to be turned into usable goods and as such, Nova Vox was built and established for that specific purpose. The refinery is massive, sprawling grounds beneath the ice and rock that spans nearly 20 kilometers. While it primarily functions to refine crude oil extracted on Carlac, it also serves to process other materials in its farthest edges to prepare them for manufacturing.

Self-sustaining thanks to its nuclear heart, the facility is capable of running around the clock and supports thousands of workers and their families, offering consistent wages and steady work. Droid labor is employed in the most dangerous positions within the facility, preserving the safety of many sentients in the process. Nova Vox is managed by a team of employees, though the overall operations are overseen and managed by the current Autocrat personally; they are to be very integrated into the workings of the refinery to ensure things are always running properly.

Security around Nova Vox is incredibly tight, with an elite sect of Troopers dedicated to its protection and authorized to shoot on sight. Being underground with only a select few entrances and exits has a significant advantage in allowing airtight access control. Not only this but its underground locale grants it the boon of being nearly untouchable by assaulting force should the planet come under siege.

POPULATION
  • Native Species: Ming Po
  • Immigrated Species: One can find inhabitants from nearly every sentient species upon Carlac, so long as the species is capable of withstanding the frigid environment with or without the aid of protective clothing or attire.
  • Population: Moderate
  • Demographics: The population of Carlac is diverse, sporting species of a wide array. The planet, particularly Asoport, has become a bit of a melting pot as a result, and the local courtesies and customs reflect upon this. Most cities are welcoming to anyone, though there are racist, xenophobic tendencies found in niche pockets throughout, especially towards species outside of human or near-human appearances.
  • Primary Languages: Galactic Basic is the primary language of the planet.
  • Culture: The culture of Carlac is work-centric, with many of the residents employed at either Nova Vox or Aoron. An emphasis is placed on doing work effectively and efficiently, and this is often echoed throughout a wide spectrum of societal habits. To someone unfamiliar with such, it always appears as if the residents are in a hurry. Interactions are often to-the-point and rapid-fire, with locals even speaking more rapidly than usual as they go about their business. The workweek lasts 5 standard days, with employees typically working between 8-10 hours each day. Being work-centric places a high value on entertainment and relaxation, which most inhabitants find in the larger cities.

Speeder racing is a common weekend occurrence across the frozen lake just outside of Deles, and many locals can be found spending time there.
Icefall Academy proteges are allowed to visit any of the cities they choose to, unaccompanied, on the weekends and are often dispersed throughout the throngs during these times as well. Students are regarded politely, though seem to hold less status than the veteran workers or craftsmen.

During the coldest month of the year, an annual Ice Sculpture festival is held in Asoport, with a vast street market, performances, and even auctions. This typically draws a wide array of tourists to the locale, bolstering the economy as it slows down during the frigid months.
GOVERNMENT & ECONOMY
  • Government: While Carlac is currently claimed by the New Imperial Order, a Warlord/Moff role has been established on the planet. As such, it currently operates as an autocracy, with Lord Halketh holding the position.
  • Affiliation: Warlord Halketh, the Vulture & New Imperial Order
  • Wealth: High, due to the imposed mercantilist policy on trade, the economy of the planet itself has been stimulated and elevated rapidly. Trade is mostly conducted internally, further perpetuating the cycle of wealth and its dispersion amongst the regions.
  • Stability: High. For the most part, locals are more than satisfied with the rule of Lord Halketh and the law he has perpetrated on the planet. Of course, there are small radical groups in every populace, and Carlac is no different.
  • Freedom & Oppression: Despite the autocracy, the current governor has placed a high value on the individual liberties of the people of Carlac, and thus, they are free to do just about anything they desire to. While industry and commerce are the largest focuses of the planet, the workers are regarded well- wages are fair, benefits are high, and the incentives to succeed are even better. Few fringe groups of anarchists exist underground and for the most part, are the only residents of the planet who seem to fear the government. Most people consider themselves safe to simply live their lives as they wish to, so long as it falls within the bounds of the law. Notably, slavery is outlawed on Carlac, and looked down upon with great malice; slavers, if exposed, are met with extreme prejudice.
MILITARY & TECHNOLOGY
  • Military: Currently ruled by a Walord, it comes as no surprise that Carlac is highly militarized. The Carlaci Corps (Codex Sub Pending); battalions of infantry and shock troopers exist in vast numbers, mostly at Icorith, and standby for operations and deployment around the clock in rotation. Dispersed amongst their ranks are a number of Force Users and Sensitives as well.
Carlac has a number of ships at its disposal, though is by no means focused on aerial superiority or defense, and instead relies on the often unforgiving weather to deter and defend from aerial assault. However, Asoport sports shield generators in the event of invasion, and its most valuable assets (Icefall Academy, Arcpool, and Nova Vox) are all located underground to render them practically untouchable in the event of an attack.
An elite collective of planetary police patrol the planet and act to enforce the law, making their presence more than obvious to citizens and visitors alike.
  • Technology: Galactic Standard
HISTORICAL INFORMATION

Caught in a plethora of conflicts and lesser squabbles throughout the clash of factions, Carlac is no stranger to the violence of war. Left battered and bloodied by previous launches, The Children of the New Order moved in to settle the planet- subjugating the locals in the process. Ever hungry in their vengeance for the Sith, the New Imperial Order collided with them on the planet’s harsh surface. The result was a lengthy battle which ultimately resulted in the New Imperial Order successfully liberating the planet and bringing it into their fold.

With no direct or immediate efforts made to restore or revitalize the planet, the newly appointed governor, Lord Halketh, set to work with a risky and ambitious goal in mind: industrialization. When a wide variety of raw materials were discovered through a rigorous exploration effort, he saw his opportunity. Rapidly, funds were gathered and partnerships established within the faction which sought to develop the planet with his vision in mind. And, perhaps against the greater odds, it succeeded. Mining operations were the first to be established on the icy world, and appropriate accommodations for the workers were built. From these efforts, the others unfurled, resulting in rapid development which was only spurred and inevitably self-funded with the discovery of oil on the planet beneath the snowy plains. With the vast array of raw materials and precious resources discovered, a refinery was to be constructed in order to process the lot into usable, and more importantly, tradable goods.

Trade networks were developed then and Carlac soon turned into an outright titan of industry, producing necessary goods for other worlds seemingly around the clock without ceasing or delay. With the prosperity and society booming, immigrants to the world flooded for employment opportunities or to stake claim in the new settlements and cities, seeking to make fortunes in this up-and-coming world. And opportunities were plentiful, with more than enough to go around for any galactic citizen, whether they were scholars, factory workers, artisans, or even military aspirants.

And now, under Lord Halketh’s continued efforts and leadership, the planet prospers, a gleaming icon of progress where once there was none. But no greatness lasts forever, and as the galaxy continues to turn, the planet’s fate has yet to unfold. Will it remain a titan of industry forever, or is it doomed to crash and plunge into chaos?

The last link (the 'wintner biome station' by Urban McLafferty one) leads directly to the pic itself. You've mentioned the artist in image credit, but we need an actual source link, like you've done with the other pics.

So please replace it with this link: https://www.artstation.com/artwork/XBWVl

  • Native Species: Ming Po
Since they're a pretty uncommon species, please hyperlink Ming Po.
