Canon items

If one was to search for a particular canon item, like some guy's cloak, or some guy's lightsaber, etc., does this require a certain number of posts in a dev thread? Would an item require more posts in a dev thread purely because it is a canon item? I couldn't find a particular number anywhere. I'm guessing it would at least require a dev thread to begin with.

And further, what is your personal opinion of canon items, and characters acquiring them?

When I do solo threads I like it to flow into big >1000 word posts, the story just flows better for me.

Reckon that would be taken into consideration when doing a dev thread?

For example if at least 10 posts are expected, but I've done five 1000 word posts, would that not be equivalent, if not a lot more than the average 10 posts?

Development Thread first, them sub. And with that, yes 5 1000 word posts will get recognition, a lot in fact, coming from personal knowledge.

Just remember the other 5. At minimum a thread must have 10 posts to be considered for dev

Lol, so there is a set requirement, regardless of word count
, No. I have had a few threads where they are only 7 posts, or even just five, and it still counted. It is determined by multiple things.

When I was a factory judge, I looked for primarily these things.
  • Story: Did it match the character who was trying to obtain the item?
  • Reasoning: Was it to gain knowledge? Find power? become stronger?
  • Well written: Higher word count, more story in each post, means I was more lenient on things like post count, *unless I specified how many posts were required.*
  • The item you were looking for: Simple holocron from some named Canon character? Sure. Smaller thread is fine. Ultimate baddassary of a gauntlet that increases your power tenfold and lets you have a better connection to the force? Um... you better work for it, or I am requesting more.
ANd likely a lot of judges or RPJs will agree that each judge looks at different things in different ways. So if you are finding something that will help your character grow, is not over powered, and can be used reasonably, then you won't have to do so much to get the item. In fact, I just got the holocron of Darth Marr. And its pretty good for a simple holocron, but not the best out there.

For reference, read it over, and then read the thread I did to get the holocron. If you have any more questions, my PM box is always open, ask other judges, or just ask here.

Cheers.

Brilliant, thanks for the detailed explanation.

Is it possible to request two things in a single thread? For example, both a lightsaber and a holocron of a canon character?

[member="Wolf"], If it matches.

If its something like the Lightsaber and Mask of Revan, then sure. because its reasonable to be found together. HOWEVER I recommend to have longer posts, or more posts to compensate for two items. It also depends on the two items you are getting.

Let's say you are getting a very powerful holocron, and a very powerful lightsaber at the same time. Then you will either need to do something where you have to do two threads. *one to find the holocron, and it reveals the location to the lightsaber in Part 2 of the thread* OR a much longer thread than more simple items.

For instance, I made an NPC companion Gale. I used the same thread for the holocron of Darth Marr, that I did for referance to Gale and who she was. If you look at both submissions, Both of them have the thread Marauders and Guardians. Because both pertained to each item that I subbed.

I did several threads over the course of an extended storyline to get the Falcon.
One thread was only seven posts long but it held relevance to the other threads to boost the count up. Basically don't dev for dev's sake. Dev to explain how and why you have said item.

Simple lightsaber = Nothing special/Maybe special with the crystal alone.

Powerful Lightsaber = One with multiple crystals that have a powerful effect or Force relic/nexus.

EDIT:
I consider powerful lightsabers to be something quite unique or have effects that can change the tide of battle simply by using the weapon alone. I reference the lightsaber I make because it's unique, as well as the crystals inside of the lightsaber make it a deadly tool, even more so. For the force nexus, I reference the Soulsaber because is a clear example of a powerful lightsaber, as well as a canon item. *its already claimed*
