- Age: 36
- Force Sensitivity: Non-Force User
- Species: Human [Homeworld: Alderaan]
- Appearance: Anina Dystra is a shorter-than-average woman that plainly wears her years of service on her sleeve. While often quick to smile when in company of close friends and family, Captain Dystra is a stalwart and dutiful officer that embodies the very essence of professionalism. Cleanly pressed uniforms, formal attire, and quaint amounts of jewelry are often seen on her person when on duty. With her shoulders straightened and head held high, Dystra is a role model officer and her actions often reflect that sentiment.
- Name: Anina Dystra
- Loyalties:
- Bast'rom'arosti [Life debt]
- The Worm Emperor [Lords of the Sith; sovereign ruler.]
- The Lords of the Sith [Nascent Sith-Imperial government.]
- Wealth: Moderately wealthy. Enough to be upper-middle class and boasts a comfortable home life and does not want for much.
- Notable Possessions: A furtive homing beacon provided by Bast'rom'arosti that is to be activated when called back into service. A specially encoded encryption sequence prevents this from being tracked by anyone other than Troma himself and is only activated via biometric scanning and a password.
- Skills: Typical Imperial training. Small arms training & usage, small unit tactics, starship command, space superiority tactics, and a vast knowledge of Sith-Imperial politics and their inner workings. She's a career officer and quite capable of defending herself, yet she is no commando or extraordinary combatant.
- Personality:Cool, collected, and professional. Anina's quite usually the stone-faced and stoic commander that possesses the hallmark traits of an outstanding leader. She cares for the men and women assigned to her, pays attention to the political dealings of the Sith, and often does her best to shield those subordinate to her from the ire and rage typically beset upon military personnel. Over the course of her career, Captain Dystra has become increasingly jaded and cynical regarding the fate of the galaxy and the lives of those that she's led. Despite being a woman that has soared through the ranks after her graduation from the Naval Academy, Anina has quietly bit her tongue to double down on her efforts to become the superior, smarter, and most successful career officer among her discriminating peers.
- Her favorite genres of music include the Tatooine blues, Jatz, and quite enjoys somber, lonesome songs that remind her of her late husband.
- Despite her higher status and income, Anina greatly favors the simple, rustic cuisine of her homeworld Alderaan. Nerf steaks, hearty breads, and fresh vegetables are staple foods of her diet when available.
- She's a proud supporter of the Imperial way: expansion, security through a strong military, and the preservation of their way of life. While she doesn't quite care for most of the Sith Order's inner dealings, their strength and superiority has proved far more worthwhile than the meager guarantees of the Jedi Order.
- After managing to save up a sizable sum of money for her daughter to attend institutes of higher learning, Anina yearns to someday obtain a business degree. While currently taking remote holo-courses, she's determined to start a business when she retires so that her daughter lives in luxury for the rest of her days.
- Weapon of Choice: Standard-issue blaster pistol.
- Combat Function: Capital-grade starship commander, operations officer, tactical officer, and weapons officer are key role that she is able to perform in. While definitely not a frontline combatant, her experience and knowledge of space-borne tactics has assured many a victory for the Sith. Captain Dystra is a born and bred leader and aims to keep herself in such positions.
- [Commander] Captain Dystra has a storied past of victories against enemies that have threatened the Imperial way of life. Nearly two decades worth of leading gunnery crews, captaining picket cruisers, and later star destroyers has turned a once youthful cadet into an extremely competent officer. Dystra knows the strengths and weaknesses of her crew, the limitations of the imperial arsenal, and has gone to great lengths to understand the preferred fighting styles and strategies employed by her enemies. Astute and determined, she will be your worst nightmare behind the helm of a star destroyer.
- [Resolute] Anina possesses a strong will backed by the instinctive need to defend her family and her way of life. Many mind tricks, illusions, and mental abilities used against her are things that she's learned to see through in order to obtain victory. While the great dark entities of the galaxy may be able to dominate her mind, most will fall short of their mark and leave Captain Dystra as the same independent woman she's always been.
- [Morality] Captain Dystra honors a quiet, secretive personal code in battle. Annihilating population centers, destroying escape pods, and even firing on her own homeworld are things that she has refused to do - much to the dismay of her Force-wielding superiors. Luckily for her, she's worth far more alive to the Sith Order than dead and has managed to avoid their burning gaze for long enough. This has, and will, continue to have repercussions on her career for as long as she serves.
- [Inflexible] Despite all of her experience and continuing education through the Imperial Academy, Captain Dystra has a track-record of playing things by the book. Her tactics, while sound and effective, are sometimes easily readable. She has tried her best over the years to learn her enemies and adapt to the situation but almost two decades of doing the same thing over and over has seen this mistake turn into a habit.
- [Deserter] During her most recent engagement above the world of Alderaan, Captain Dystra refused to fire upon the world when ordered to by Darth Acharon and the Sith Lords that accompanied him. The resulted in her being seemingly shot and killed by Lieutenant Troma for her insubordination and treason against the Lords of the Sith. While only stunned and lightly wounded, Captain Dystra was given a chance to flee to Alderaan, safeguard her family, and escape her service from the empire in exchange for a life debt. Despite her records listing her as killed-in-action, she will definitely not be allowed within the borders of her former nation. (This is a temporary weakness and may be removed in a future modification of this submission.)
Anina Dystra was born on Alderaan to House Dystra, a hardly noteworthy family of lower nobles with ties to past imperial governments. As a child, she lived a happy-go-lucky life with her family and had aspirations of becoming a famous celebrity or successful businesswoman. To that end she took her studies during school quite seriously, much to the dismay of her classmates that wanted to slack off and skip class to hangout. She was a stark contrast to the rowdy boys and girls that daydreamed of ice cream and holo-games, whereas Anina dreamed of her future. She excelled in her studies, to say the very least, and made her family astoundingly proud of the young woman she was growing up to be.
Love quickly made her forget all about her dreams. Meeting Lucian Madell during summer school was easily one the best, and worst, things that she'd ever managed to do. Lucian, a son of a commoner family, had taken to the quiet, studious girl almost immediately. As he fell head-over-hells for Anina, he quickly discovered the usual advances of flirty remarks, asking for her holo-number, and inviting her out were tactics that never worked. So he shifted his angle of attack. Asking a girl out to study is pretty cheesy, ain't it? Well, Lucian did just that. Over the course of their summer-long course, the two had grown quite close and actively began dating against the wishes of their families.
Commoners and nobles. What a stereotypical trope.
Their relationship made leaps and bounds over the course of her youth, especially after their families found out about one another. It was the usual stuff of 'stay away from one another' and 'how could you???' that only served to pressure both Anina and Lucian into growing closer. It was a pity for them both that they failed to notice House Dystra's conniving plot that had been stirring in the backdrop for quite some time now. That former imperial history that was mentioned in the first paragraph? Yeah, that's an important detail.
It appeared that House Dystra had become aware of the growing, mystical entity that took shape in the Worm Emperor. As his servants of darkness scoured the galaxy in search of old allies, that small family of theirs on Alderaan drew his attention. And he demanded a tithe in exchange for his good graces. Anina was to be that offering, one that would put the entire family in under his purview whilst removing the stain that was blemishing their good name.
Of course she was furious. Being pressed into Imperial service just because she was dating some boy? Despite how much she argued and fought, she was no match for the agents of darkness that came to collect her. Lucian had also picked that time to arrive, immediately pledging his own service to the Worm Emperor as long as he could accompany his love. While disgusting by the actions of her family, Anina begrudgingly accepted her fate as long as she was with Lucian.
The Imperial Academy, while difficult, proved quite easy for the pair of young lovers that had spent their dates studying and talking together. They were natural born leaders, setting the standard for success and excelling in most aspects of military study. However, this tended to draw the ire of the other cadets. Ones who weren't forced to serve their dark sovereign, ones who weren't ass-kissers that sucked up to the instructors. There will be no tales of bullies and drama here. Other than snide remarks and pranks, not a single cadet dared to lay a finger on either of them for fear of attracting the unwanted attention of the Worm Emperor's servants.
Separating from each other upon graduation was difficult, but definitely doable. Those early years of long deployments in search of the Worm Emperor's allies, fighting against scourges of pirates, and battling away Galactic Alliance forces saw each of them quickly mature in their own ways. Independence, respect for military authority and strength, and a begrudging admiration for their Sith leaders that held the line against the Jedi. So the pair spent these years in dutiful, using their short periods of leave to spend time with one another and were eventually married. For what it was worth, the stability of it all was soothing for their turbulent hearts, something that helped stem the flow of painful memories of home.
Recent years have been difficult for Anina. The death of Lucian hit the hardest, who had valiantly passed at the Battle of Druckenwell during a sustained engagement with Galactic Alliance patrol fleets. Yet, the birth of her daughter Daeya Dystra (or Deedee) was easily the greatest thing to ever happen in her life. Military duties, a responsibility to her daughter, and grief over her late husband turned a once hopeful woman into a stalwart realist. And when caught in the dilemma between firing upon her homeworld and obeying the Sith above her, it all culminated her with her summarily "executed" and removed from Imperial service.
Now, given a chance at life by Lieutenant Bast'rom'arosti, Anina Dystra has deserted to live peacefully with her daughter until he calls upon her once more.
