Chapter I
Born in a galaxy consumed by chaos and peril, Careina Djo's life was molded by adversity and sorrow from its very beginning. As the offspring of Damon Riggs and Teyla Ee'everwest, two individuals with complex histories within the Galaxy, she found herself amid an unstable environment. Throughout Teyla's pregnancy with the twins she faced numerous abduction attempts, perpetrated not only by Sith Lord Ferian Adair but also his grandson, Kerstan Blackmoore.
With Ferian vanishing mysteriously, Kerstan pursued his forefather's sinister goal of establishing a dominant K'paur race, discerning that the unborn twins possessed an uncanny sensitivity to the Force which he could exploit for his own nefarious purposes. Previously traumatized by Ferian's sadistic experiments, Teyla led a fraught existence on the run before returning to her home planet of Naboo in hopes of protecting her children from the Adair family's dark machinations.
Kerstan, however, remained relentless, infiltrating Evenfall to kidnap Teyla and her infants. While he fell short in capturing Teyla herself, he managed to abduct the infant Marcus and Careina. As Ferian's devoted acolyte, he exposed them to the same horrific experiments their mother underwent—changing their fates irrevocably.
Upon their parents' rescue efforts, Careina and Marcus were concealed with Teyla's sister —Eline Djo— in the Hapes system. For three years, they lived hidden lives with infrequent contact with their parents as they chased down Kerstan. Unfortunately through their travels, Teyla lost track of both Damon and Kerstan—forcing the young and grieving mother to assume sole responsibility for her children. The unexpected arrival of Teyla was hard on Careina, who viewed her mother as a virtual stranger come to pluck her from the only home she'd known. The situation only grew more complex when Damon unexpectedly returned a few years later. However, Careina gradually adjusted to his reappearance in her life, despite the inherent struggle.
As time passed, Careina grew into a curious and bold child, cultivating dreams of exploring the world beyond Naboo. Encouraged by her aunt Eline Djo, the Duchess of Hapes who had hidden her and Marcus years earlier, and with the blessing of her mother, Careina relocated to Hapes at the age of 16 to join her extended family. There in the golden city, Careina completed her education, attending one of the top Hapan institutions of higher learning.
Driven to enroll in the Royal Guard, Careina delved into law enforcement, criminal justice, and military science—following closely in her mother's footsteps, unbeknownst to herself. Outside the classroom, she indulged in thrilling pursuits such as swoop racing.
After many hard years of study, Careina graduated at the top of her class from university, earning a prestigious position within the service of the Hapan Queen and ascending the ranks of Hapan nobility. Eventually, Careina decided to adopt the surname of her loving aunt to reflect the life and world that she'd chosen for herself.

Known for their shrewd political maneuvers and sharp intellects, the House of Djo has long been a cornerstone of Hapan society and a driving force in shaping the course of galactic events.
