Carn Dista; Jedi Master.

"Do not faulter. Do not bend. Do not break."

BASIC INFORMATION

STRENGTHS AND WEAKNESSES
  • + Lightsaber Mastery: Having trained for at least eight hours a day for the past thirty seven years, Carn's skill with a lightsaber is incredible. This rigorous training regime has honed the Jedi into a more than formidable foe for any combatant.
  • + Life-Long Jedi: Carn was born upon Adumar and immediately given to the Jedi Order by his family. Aside from that day, and the time it took the Jedi he was presented to to transport him to the Jedi Temple, Carn has spent his entire life serving the Galaxy as part of the Order. As such his faith in the Jedi way is unshakable, and his knowledge in the Jedi arts vast.
  • + Physical Condition: You do not train vigorously for over four decades without making progress. For a human of his age, Carn should be starting to slow, yet due to his lifestyle he only seems to go from strength to strength.
  • + The Living Force: Carn adheres to the teachings of the Living Force. He lives for the moment and trusts in his feelings much more than any visions the Force might bring him. Due to his beliefs and practices, Carn is much more in tune with the surroundings he finds himself in, and they in turn seem to be greatly in tune with himself.
  • - Juyo: For the past eleven years of his life, Carn has set aside all lightsaber forms other than Juyo. While he is undoubtedly skilled in the form, to the point of mastery, it has taken it's toll on him. His frequent flirting with the Darkside leaves Carn susceptible to bouts of aggression, and he is often found in a foul mood in the days before and after such an outburst.
  • - Missing Padawan: Having trained one Asha Seren as his Padawan Learner, Carn formed a strong emotional bond through the Force with her. Her departure from the Jedi Order and her subsequent departure from the mortal coil shook Carn to his foundations. However, he refuses to believe she is deceased, and searches for his former student to this day.
  • - Political Distrust: Carn is no politician. In fact, he openly disdains any form of politics, and can be frequently found disagreeing with many of the decisions made by the Republic Senators. As a result, there are few, if any Senators that seek council from this particular Jedi.

NOTABLE POSSESSIONS
  • Carn's Lightsaber: As a Jedi Master, Carn claimed the right to adorn his lightsaber with small amounts of Electrum, so that his position would be noted both within, and without the order. The blade's deep hue comes from a single green Lorrdian Gemstone, and it is focused by two Mephite Adegan crystals. The lightsaber was originally crafted during his time as a Padawan, with his master Willow Argeneau, and has seen little alteration outside of the addition to the aforementioned Electrum trim.

FORCE TECHNIQUES AND LIGHTSABER COMBAT

Lightsaber Combat: Having spent his life under the direct instruction of many Jedi, Carn has a lifetime of knowledge in the Jedi Arts. As such, he has gained a vast wealth in the seven classical forms of lightsaber combat. The following is a list of which forms he knows to which degree of skill:
  • Shii-Cho: Adept
  • Makashi: Average
  • Soresu: Near-Mastery
  • Ataru: Average
  • Shien: Average
  • Djem So: Adept
  • Niman: Average
  • Juyo: Mastery
  • Vaapad: Below Average

The Force: As per all Jedi, Carn's knowledge of the Force is vast. Over his lifetime he has become skilled in many techniques, yet he rarely, if ever calls upon them - Especially some of the more dangerous abilities he has been trained in, as he prefers to call upon the Force only if it is necessary. The following is a list of Force techniques that Carn has mastery over:

Basic Techniques:
  • Force Speed
  • Force Leap
  • Force Sight
  • Telekinesis
  • Force Stun
  • Force Stasis
  • Force Pull
  • Force Push
  • Force Wave
  • Mind Trick
Advanced Techniques
  • Force Repulse
  • Force Flash
  • Stasis Field
  • Force Suppression
  • Protection Bubble
  • Telepathy
  • Force Absorb
  • Saber Throw
Rare/Restricted Techniques
  • Force Breach
  • Force Light
  • Wall of Light *
  • Sever Force
It is worth noting that Carn also understands the techniques required to appear as a Force Ghost after one departs from the mortal coil, although it is as yet unknown if he will put this knowledge into practice when the time comes.

* Carn cannot cast a Wall of Light on his own, as the technique requires several Jedi Masters present in order to perform it. He is however, versed in the technique to the point that he could, if required, instruct another Jedi in it's practical application.

BIOGRAPHY

Adumar. A land of Aristocracy, blast swords, and fighter pilots. It is here, in the depths of Cartann City that his story began. The city was the largest on the planet, and it was glorious. At least, from the outside. The long ingrained class system of the planet had forced many of it's lower class citizens underground. They lived in squalor. And it was in this squalor that one Carn Dista was born. Yes, the Jedi, Carn Dista, was born amid the muck and the filth of Cartann. His parents were simple folk, yet they were the kind of simple folk that had high aspirations - and those aspirations naturally were placed upon their son. You see, in the weeks prior to Carn's entrance to the world, his father had contacted the Jedi Order. His parents did not want for the boy to grow among the filth, and become like they. No. They wanted him to do something good, perhaps even great for the Galaxy.

And so, the Jedi came. A knight by the name of Willow Argeneau was the representative that the Order had sent to collect this prospect. And collect him she did. His parents scarce had time to hold the boy and explain their love for him before the Jedi Knight took him aboard her transport. It was the first, and last time that Carn would see his homeworld.

In the years that followed, Knight Argeneau frequently checked up on the child. Indeed, she almost became a mother figure for him in his formative years. In her spare time, she taught him how to take his first steps. She spent many hours teaching him how to read and write Galactic Basic. And when the time was right, naturally, she volunteered herself to be Carn's master within the Jedi Order. At first, the Council disagreed. They claimed that the bond she had with the boy was too strong, and that her feelings towards him as a son would outweigh her duty to him as a mentor. Yet Master Argeneau was a stubborn Jedi. Over the years, her constant training of the boy in addition to his basic training as an Initiate of the Jedi Order caused Carn's skill to advance beyond that of his peers, until he was on a par with the Padawan learners that Council had taken an interest in. It was only then, that the Council finally gave in and consented to Willow training Carn, then in his tenth year of life.

It was during the first two years of Carn's training under Willow exclusively that he finally understood and came to terms with the first lightsaber form. However, seeing how quickly he had picked up the form, Willow was keen to progress the young Jedi further. And progress he did. In the following years Carn's theoretical knowledge and practical skill in lightsaber combat increased exponentially - He grasped the concepts of Makashi within a year. Within three years, he could fluently switch between Shii-Cho and Makashi. By the time he had hit eighteen, Carn was not only well versed in the first two forms, but also Soresu, Ataru, and Shien. By the age of twenty two, he had begun to settle into the rigors of Soresu and soon became adept in the form, much to the delight of his master and the aggravation of his peers, whom by now were struggling to keep up with him, let alone score a hit with a training saber.

And yet along side all of this combat training, Carn and his master still found time to delve into the mysteries of the Force. Willow taught Carn much about the ways of the Living Force, and even enlisted the teachings of her former master, one Jedi Master Andjo Bretori in training him. Carn quickly picked up the teachings from the two Jedi, and began to form the basis of a deep understanding of the Living Force and it's myriad of ways. To Carn, the Force was no longer just something to use when told to, it was something to baptize oneself in through daily meditation. It was in these years that his skill with the core Force abilities matured from basic abilities, to powerful tools that could truly enable Carn to become the Guardian of Civilization that he felt he was born to be.

But the Padawan's training was yet incomplete. His weakest point of knowledge was that of Jedi Ethics. While he knew and understood them, many of the Orders mysteries were still mysteries to him. And that was something he could not abide, for a Jedi could not allow them self the bliss of ignorance. They could only push them self into further realms of knowledge. And thus Carn began to divide what time to meditate he had between doing what his master instructed, and bolstering his knowledge through religious studying of the archives. His mind became vast in this time, and it was said that his skill at answering questions about the Order was second only to his almost natural talent in Soresu.

This was the way of things for many years. For at least two years, the Council had thought Carn ready for the Trials. They had approached him repeatedly, yet he declined. By now he was as skilled as any of the Knights, bar those on their way to the venerable position of Master, yet still he claimed he was not fit, nor ready, nor suitable for the position. The council, however, was not of the same opinion. In the months following the twenty eighth Life-Day that Carn had seen, the Council almost forcibly dragged Carn before them, and made him commit to the trials or face being placed in the Agri-Corps for failing to complete his training. Naturally unwilling to disagree with the Council any more than he had already done, the Padawan accepted, and naturally he was inducted into the venerated ranks of the Jedi Knights.

All was well for Carn in the years that followed - His abilities in both Soresu and the Force only ever seemed to increase. Not once did he plateau, nor err in his training or devotion to the Jedi Order, and his ability to complete both sensitive and more combat based missions on behalf of the Galactic Republic was equally impressive. He was becoming a shining example - A standard by which every Jedi could look to, regardless of their time in the Order. Carn was so much the Paragon that when he requested a meeting with the Jedi Council to discuss more advanced training, the Council convened in their full number. What he requested, however, was something nobody could have predicted.

At the age of thirty, Carn had requested that the Jedi Council give him leave to study, train in, and ultimately attempt to master the form known as Juyo. A stark contrast to Carn's apparent chosen form of Soresu, Juyo was unreserved and undoubtedly the most vicious form of lightsaber combat known to the Jedi Order. Indeed, the Council was somewhat surprised that Carn had learned of the form's existence, as any and all knowledge was somewhat restricted within the Jedi Order for it's apparent affiliation with the Dark Side of the Force. Yet when the Jedi Knight revealed that he had taken on a Sith who had used the Form, and put forth the case that he could not allow himself to remain ignorant of it's existence or risk disobeying Odan-Urr's revision of the original Jedi Mantra, the Council consented to deliberate on the idea. And deliberate they did. A full year passed before the Council finally came to their decision. They had accepted Carn's request. He was to train in the form.

For the next five years, Carn took it upon himself to focus only on Juyo. He mastered it's footwork, it's theories, and it's techniques. He plundered the archives and restricted holocrons in order to glean what information he could. He spent much time with the Guardians, the Battlemaster, and those few Jedi of the time that had been permitted to use the form, so that his body would become used to it's rigors, and his mind steeled from it's advances. He learned to enjoy the fight, to pour emotion into his bladework. Each waking day he poured his every effort into his goal to become more than Adept in the form. As the weeks rolled into months, and the months rolled into years, Carn was seen to make progress. By the time five years had passed, there was no longer any theory for him to learn from the archives. He had studied every Holocron he knew of. He had bested many of the Guardians, injured the Battlemaster, and had practically exhausted the other Juyo practitioners in his thirst to increase his skill in the form.

Worried that this ever increasing thirst for ability would envelop the Knight and be his end, the Council chose to assign a Padawan Learner to him. Carn protested at first, stating that he had no time to train another. Yet the Council bade he make the time, and assigned to him one Asha Seren. At first, the Epicanthix was as opposed to the idea as Carn was, yet time, duty, and the Force drew them closer. In the years that followed, Carn trained Asha as Willow had trained him, and as Andjo had trained her. She became skilled in the Jedi way, yet although her master was fast becoming one of the more notorious bladesmen in the Jedi Order, Asha had no such talent nor love of saber combat. Indeed, her persisting health problems had gone some way to shatter her dreams of becoming a Jedi Guardian. So Carn took another approach. He began to train her in the arts he himself was unfamiliar with - Investigation, subterfuge and stealth. The ways of the Jedi Sentinel. In this, Asha was much more successful and indeed, much more talented in. She came on in leaps and bounds, even though she was unaware of the path her master had set her on, and under Carn's ever watchful eye, his Padawan soon passed the trials to become a Jedi Knight - Yet, there was not one, but two promotions that day. As sure as Asha ascended to the position of Knighthood, so did the Council confer upon Carn the position of Mastery at the age of Fourty.

Now free from having a Padawan learner, Carn permitted himself time to delve further into the Force - within three years he had mastered many ancient and almost long forgotten techniques. However rather than making it open knowlege that he understood the practical use of grave techniques such as severing an opponent from the Force, Carn opted to keep the knowledge close to his chest - partly so he had a trump card against the Darkness of thr Galaxy, but mostly to ensure that such knowledge remained hidden from Jedi that may seek to abuse it. Those three years were not just dedicated to mastering the arcane though. It was during those three years that Carn lost Asha. She had disappeared into the Galaxy, leaving the Jedi behind for a secretive conclave of lightsiders. Try as he might, Carn found himself unable to locate his former apprentice. He searched the outer regions. The core worlds. Every planet they had visitied while he was teaching her. Yet all he found were hints that she was still alive. Many Jedi claimed that she had perished during this time, often informing Carn that they had felt her life fade from the Force. Yet he never stopped the search, instead choosing to dismiss the claims of multiple Jedi as wild guesses.

Despite Carn's constant search for his Padawan, certain things were looking up for the steadily aging Jedi. In his fourty third year he was granted the position of Jedi Councillor, and while publicly accepting of the position, in private he couldn't help but wonder if it was too soon. He was afterall, only in his fourties. Still, Carn was forced to put such thoughts to the side, as the Sith Empire had declared war upon the Republic. Understanding that this was, at least in part, a sign from the Force prompting him to step up to the mantle that the Jedi had placed him in, Carn and the rest of the Council took the Jedi Order to crusade against the Sith Empire. While constantly helping the Jedi by assigning them to their duties, Carn's most notable participation in the war was upon Manaan, where he stalled imperial forces in a control center long enough for the Republic to arrive and force them to retreat, and the last battle on Korriban, where he joined the assault on the last bastion of Sith on world. After a year of crusading, the Sith Empire had been annihilated.

Following the annihilation of the Jedi's arch nemesis, the Jedi Council saw fit to promote Carn into the position of Master of the Order. However unlike his predecessors, who had sought to keep a close eye on the Jedi Temple, Carn split his time between Coruscant and Korriban. He was most certain that if the Sith would ever re-emerge, they would seek to take back their homeworld. And so with this in mind, Carn went forth to the Sith homeworld, taking with him took two Liberation-class Cruisers, a Unity-Class Assault Ship complete with a full ten thousand occupants, and a single Stalwart-Class Heavy Cruiser, which he dubbed Bromi's Grace to serve as the flagship of his small fleet. The fighting men and women that had travelled with him from Coruscant were somewhat proud to be serving directly under the now venerable Jedi Master, and elected to rename themselves to from the First Korriban Defence Force to Dista's Legion, and although Carn initially protested against the change of name, he eventually gave in, reasoning that it was good for morale. With his Legion, and direct control over the Sith homeworld, Carn was most certain that any Darksider contenplating trying to regain the world would be met with a defence strong enough to keep any attacking forces at bay long enough for the Republic's main fleet to arrive and decimate their foes.
