787 ABY Kaine Zambrano is born to disgraced Epicanthix nobles, Hazael and Ashriel Zambrano. Both are descendants of the near-mythical Kings, Magnus the Red and Solomon the Black. They are living in exile on Thyferra after being driven from Panatha after many political scandals. 790 ABY Kaine's younger brother, Mordecai, is born. 792 ABY Hazael and Ashriel begin to instruct Kaine in the way of the Dark Side, pushing him to embrace pseudo-Sith teachings. He is regarded derisively and punished harshly. 797 ABY Kaine's younger sister, Saeth, is born. 798 ABY Hazael and Ashriel, growing disappointed with Kaine's progress, start to induct Mordecai and Saeth into the dark arts. 799 ABY Kaine colludes with his great-uncle Braxus Zambrano to turn against Hazael and Ashriel. Their continued abuse against himself and his siblings only fans the flames of his hatred. 800 ABY Kaine puts his and Braxus' plan into action, turning the loyalty of the estate guard and apprehending Hazael and Ashriel in the dead of night. Ashriel derides her traitorous son, her words inadvertently sparking the lingering shard-essence of Solomon that resided with Kaine. In a blind rage, Kaine kills Hazael, Ashriel, and the entire house guard with the Force. Mordecai and Saeth are left with their uncle Titus and raised by him, while Kaine joins Braxus to travels the galaxy. 804 ABY Kaine and Braxus travel to Panatha under assumed identities, exploring the Iron Mountains and the neglected former demense of the Zambrano family. They discover ancient crypts burrowed into the mountain, and begin to study the tombs and ancient murals. They collapse the opening to the crypts to prevent discovery by others. 810 ABY Kaine meets Salara Kesare, eldest daughter and heiress of Ullanor Istaaven Kesare III and Magdalore Sathryne Aiori-Kesare, on Panatha. An ascendant alchemist, Salara was betrothed by her parents to the heir of another wealthy family, Leman El'Cthonia. Kaine and Salara form a romantic affair prior to Salara's wedding to Lord Leman. On the eve of her wedding, Salara encourages Kaine to murder Leman and the entirety of House El'Cthonia. 812 ABY Salara announces her marriage to her father, who disinherits her out of shock and anger. Spurned by her family, Salara plots with Kaine to destroy them and assume their lands and wealth for themselves. Kaine accomplishes this not long after, and Salara becomes the sole inheritor to her family's legacy. 815 ABY Kaine, Salara, and Braxus leave Panatha to travel the galaxy. Salara's landed holdings are left under the care of loyal castellans, who would watch over them until their return. 818 ABY Kaine and Salara meet Invicta Gaultier on Alderaan, forming a three-way romantic relationship that culminates in both Kaine and Salara taking Invicta as their wife. They then coopted and sidelined Invicta's family to secure their lands and wealth, strengthening their personal fortunes. They then leave Alderaan with Invicta. 820 ABY Kaine encounters the Blackfang Group, a mercenary company that hired itself out to various organizations regardless of affiliation with the nascent Republic or Empire. Kaine joins Blackfang and quickly rises to become one of its most effective members. 821 ABY During an operation with Blackfang, Kaine is introduced to Izaszh Kylir by Braxus. Though they quickly become physically attracted, they do not pursue a relationship. They bid one another farewell after the operation's conclusion. 823 ABY Blackfang Group is hired out to destabilize a local government in the Outer Rim, but is betrayed by their employer and killed almost to a man. Kaine is the only survivor, forced underground by his assailants and thought dead. He later reemerges and reunites with his uncle and his two wives. The ordeal fundamentally changes Kaine, who slowly abandons his thuggish ways and starts to look towards a higher purpose. While traveling through the galaxy, Kaine Zambrano encounters the Vahla; fire-wielding nomadic Dark Siders. He engages in a relationship with a fire novice called Emma Cuilein, who he marries the same year. 824 ABY Kaine and Braxus meet with agents of the Sith Empire, the dominant power in the Tingel Arm, and collude with them to achieve revenge against the employer who betrayed Kaine and the Blackfang Group. Once Kaine's vengeance is sated, he and Braxus join the Empire. Kaine is trained as an Intelligence Agent on Dromund Kaas. 826 ABY Kaine is honed by his instructors into a formidable agent, earning high marks in every field. His operational record is impressive as well, with many successful actions being taken in the Empire's name. Through his skill, Kaine rises the ranks of Imperial Intelligence before being appointed as Minister of Intelligence due in part to his careful political maneuvering. As Minister, Kaine carries out several reforms of Imperial Intelligence. He also forms a personal guard unit codenamed as Hi'klo, or Hydra in Galactic Basic. 827 ABY Izaszh Kylir returns into Kaine's life as an agent working for him. The two reignite their passions and are married on Dromund Kaas. Izaszh becomes Kaine's most loyal and efficient agent, answering only to him. 828 ABY Kaine's Force-Sensitivity is discovered by Darth Moridin, who inducts him into the Sith Order as his protégé. Officially, Kaine is instructed by the Sith Lord Daxton Bane, but Kaine quickly outpaces Lord Bane's lessons and is fully knighted by Moridin. Trained as an Intelligence Agent, political operator, and now Sith Knight, Kaine is brought into a secret conspiracy of Darth Moridin's to overthrow the Dark Council and crown Moridin as Sith Emperor; the first in nearly seven hundred years. Kaine proves instrumental in securing Moridin's powerbase on Dromund Kaas during the coup, cutting off communication with the wider galaxy, and assassinating officers and Sith that were in opposition to Moridin's coup. For these actions, Kaine is titled as Grand Vizier under the freshly crowned Emperor Moridin. 829 ABY As Grand Vizier, Kaine wields authority and power second only to Emperor Moridin. He begins to take on several apprentices, teaching them of the Dark Side. Several fail and are discarded, but a suitable number flourish under their master's instruction. During this time, Kaine continues to receive instruction under Emperor Moridin, and is finally elevated to the rank of Sith Lord. On the eve of Kaine's elevation, Moridin reveals his plans to attack the Mandalorian Clans to the Empire's South. Kaine helps organize the attack, and the first blow is set to strike at Junction. The Sith assault catches the Mandalorians off-balance, and Moridin's forces are on the cusp of pushing into Mandalore before they are beset by a combined Jedi-Mandalorian strike force. Emperor Moridin slays Grandmaster Teferi Efreet in battle, but is betrayed by an ambitious Sith known as Ashin Varanin and forced to abdicated. Varanin claims the throne and ends the war with the Mandalorians. 830 ABY Despite his participation in Moridin's government, Empress Varanin allows Kaine to retain his title as Grand Vizier. Still loyal to Moridin's vision, Kaine forms the Moridinae, a political faction of Sith and Imperials that maintain Moridin as the rightful Emperor of the Sith. Seeking to undermine Empress Varanin's authority, they work against her in the shadows by pushing through their own policies and attempting to block any reforms to the Imperial structure. Kaine reforms the Hi'klo into the first iteration of the Blackblade Guard, partnering with his uncle Braxus to improve their equipment and training. As conflict between the Empire and the Republic start to spiral into open war, Kaine enters into a conspiracy with Darth Voracitos to kill Empress Varanin. 831 ABY Ashin Varanin is presumed dead after Sith warships open fire on her position during the Battle of Roche, and Darth Voracitos sweeps into power as the new Sith Emperor with the aid of Grand Vizier Kaine Zambrano. The Empire's political structure is reformed, and the Dark Council is brought back as an advisory and legislative body. Kaine Zambrano is given a place on this new council as the councilor in charge of civil affairs, which he uses to further cement his influence within the Empire to the detriment of Emperor Voracitos. Multiple mega-construction projects are launched by Emperor Voracitos, including what would eventually become the Malsheem. Not satisfied with Voracitos hedonism, Kaine Zambrano again conspires with other disgruntled Sith to seize power, culminating in Tyrin Ardik overthrowing Voracitos and becoming the new Sith Emperor. 832 ABY The Empire retains much of the structural reforms implemented under Voracitos' leadership, with the addition of a triumvirate of three Sith Lords that each would oversee a third of the Sith Empire. Kaine Zambrano is appointed to govern the middle third of the Empire, including the Stygian Caldera, making him the second-most powerful Sith in the Empire once again. Emperor Ardik, who is mostly infatuated with economic projects and reforms, allows the triumvirate under him to govern the Empire as they pleased. The Dark Council grows continually more marginalized as the ability to rule is taken away from them, though they still wield extensive legislative powers. Unexpectedly, Emperor Ardik is overthrown after being attacked by the rogue Sith Lord Mikhail Shorn. Shorn rejects the throne, instead placing Dranok Lussk upon the seat before departing the Empire. 834 ABY Emperor Lussk is a much more military-minded ruler than his two predecessors, and wields his authority to strengthen the Imperial Military; particularly the Imperial Navy. Kaine Zambrano grows wary of this upstart Emperor, unsure of his true intentions. He secretly plots to overthrow Emperor Lussk, as he had done with Varanin and Voracitos, and install himself as Sith Emperor; seizing power directly for himself. Zambrano sweeps into the Sith Citadel on Dromund Kaas, his elite Blackblade Guard making quick work of the Citadel's defenders and Lussk's honor guard. He then challenges Emperor Lussk to a duel in the throne room, and proceeds to defeat Dranok Lussk by disarming him and breaking his back. Zambrano ultimately spares Lussk, but exiles him to the Unknown Regions. Kaine Zambrano is then crowned as Sith Emperor. 835 ABY Emperor Zambrano initiates a large-scale mobilization and modernization of the Imperial Military, swelling the ranks of not only the Imperial Army and the Imperial Navy, but the Blackblade Guard as well. His ambitions are fixed on initiating a war against the Galactic Republic, whom the Emperor considers as the Empire's greatest external threat. Neighboring states are quelled through overt military action, assimilated into the Empire after being cowed through lightning-fast operations. The largest nation bordering the Sith Empire was the Mandalorian Clans, who were still in an uneasy détente with the Empire. Seeking to shore up this potential front, Emperor Zambrano opened negotiations with the Mandalorians and achieved a non-aggression pact in exchange for the secession of border systems to the Mandalorians. With this concluded, Emperor Zambrano launched his war. 836 ABY The war initially favors the Sith Empire, who launched multiple strikes without an official declaration of war. Sith strike forces took many worlds along the Perlemian Trade Route, cutting deep into Republic territory. The Emperor led many of these attacks personally, garnering a reputation as a ruthless military commander and a skilled Sith warrior. Many of the worlds conquered by the Sith Empire were left desolated, as per the directives of the Emperor they were to embark on a campaign of annihilation against the Republic; sparing little in their warpath. This galvanized the Republic, and a renewed counter-offensive stabilized the frontlines as entire systems became entrenched in brutal warfare. Unbeknownst to the Sith Emperor, the Mandalorians had reneged on their non-aggression with the Sith Empire, and launched a devastating push deep into Imperial territory. In one fell swoop, they captured Dromund Kaas and plunged an asteroid deep into its crust, all but rendering the planet uninhabitable.
Caught off-guard, the Empire was forced to relinquish captured systems as frontline units were recalled back to contain the sudden Mandalorian incursion. Through the front with the Mandalorians was initially stabilized, the Republic began to make quick advances up the Perlemian and securing victories at Saleucami and Ossus. The Empire and the Republic met in pitched battle at Mon Cala, Emperor Zambrano engaging in multiple duels with members of the Jedi Council, but he was ultimately beaten and detained by Jedi Master Diana Moridena. Bereft of leadership, the Empire began to disintegrate into factional fiefdoms as regional governors and military commands began to scramble for power. Briefly, the Sith Lord Darth Vulcanus rallied the Empire at Korriban as the newly declared Emperor, but he was defeated by the Republic. After Korriban fell into Republic hands, the Empire functionally ceased to exist as the central bureaucracy all but disbanded.
Kaine Zambrano was imprisoned upon a Republic penal transport, securely fastened by anti-Force countermeasures. En route to Coruscant for trial, Zambrano is liberated by members of the One Sith, a secretive Sith Order that had remained hidden in the depths of the Deep Core for hundreds of years. They bring Zambrano to Prakith to meet their leader, an individual only known as the Dark Lord. This Dark Lord entices Zambrano to join the One Sith, and bestows upon him the title Darth Vornskr. Vornskr becomes one of the fives Voices of the Dark Lord, tasked with overseeing a fifth of the galaxy in his name. Vornskr's territory encompasses most of the Unknown Regions. -
Personality
-
Darth Carnifex is an authoritarian figure whose personality revolves around his absolute belief in the supremacy of the Sith. He views himself as the rightful custodian of Sith culture, striving to preserve its traditions and ideologies at all costs. Carnifex demands loyalty and strength from those around him, and his rule is characterized by violence, fear, and an unwavering commitment to the dark side of the Force. He views himself as a symbol of Sith strength, and he expects others to adhere strictly to his ideals or face brutal consequences. This strict adherence to the tenets of the Sith shapes his interactions, making him intolerant of weakness and compromise.
Ruthlessness defines much of Carnifex's personality. He approaches leadership with an iron fist, valuing power and control above all else. His disdain for compromise extends not just to his enemies, but also to any who serve him inadequately. He is a master manipulator, capable of both inspiring and intimidating, and his cold demeanor often makes him an unsettling presence even among fellow Sith. Carnifex views others, particularly non-Sith or those without significant power, as expendable, and he has no qualms about using people as tools to achieve his objectives.
Despite his harshness, Carnifex is also strategic and patient, knowing when to play the long game to achieve his goals. His strategic mind is evident in the way he builds alliances and manipulates situations to his advantage, often taking steps far in advance to ensure his vision of Sith dominance. He understands the value of secrecy and uses his knowledge of Sith alchemy, sorcery, and ancient rituals to solidify his power. He believes that true Sith strength lies in the ability to control both the material and the mystical, and this belief drives his actions and ambitions.
While Darth Carnifex is typically portrayed as cold and calculating, there are facets of his personality that demonstrate a sense of loyalty and care—albeit in a manner shaped by Sith ideology. He cares deeply for his family and those he deems worthy of his protection, such as the children of important allies like Darth Empyrean. This care, however, is rooted in his view of them as part of his lasting legacy and as extensions of his influence. He protects them not out of compassion but out of a belief that they represent the future of the Sith, and thus, their well-being is directly tied to the endurance of his power and influence.
Carnifex's confidence in his abilities and his position often borders on arrogance. His numerous successes and power in the dark side have led him to view himself as untouchable, dismissing most threats as insignificant. This overwhelming confidence is both a strength, making him formidable in battle and in leadership, and a potential weakness, as it can cause him to underestimate enemies who do not fit his view of conventional power. His pride and sense of superiority often blind him to the strengths of unconventional or non-traditional opponents, leaving openings for those who are clever enough to exploit them.

Powers and Abilities
-
Darth Carnifex is an exceptionally skilled Sith with a diverse range of abilities in combat, the Force, and dark arts. He is highly proficient in various forms of lightsaber combat, including Shii-Cho, Shien/Djem So, and Juyo, making him a formidable duelist. His unarmed combat training includes multiple martial arts like Teräs Käsi and Mandalorian Core, emphasizing his versatility in melee combat.
Carnifex is also a master of Sith alchemy, enchanting weapons, armor, and artifacts with dark side power, as well as creating potions and performing transmutations. His expertise in the Force extends to multiple domains: Control (e.g., Force Body, Tutaminis), Sense (e.g., Precognition, Force Sight), and Alter (e.g., Alter Environment). He also uses his alchemical knowledge to create Sithspawn and other dark creations, emphasizing his mastery of Sith sorcery.
Beyond his martial prowess, Carnifex has a highly analytical mind, demonstrated through his skills in slicing (hacking) and strategic military operations. He served as Minister of Intelligence and has an impressive command over subterfuge, statecraft, and political maneuvering. His organizational skills enabled him to form powerful groups like the Blackblade Guard and the Kainate, strengthening his power base. His combination of combat expertise, dark sorcery, and political acumen makes him one of the most formidable figures in the Sith Empire.
