ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Morpheus Area Visual/Aural Obfuscation System: This strange experimental system has multiple projectors mounted on the body of the vessels underbelly that work in a manner much similar to the Light Absorbing Cell technology combined with massive projectors emitting fields that suppress all sound to near whisper levels, the light absorbing cells in particular are similar to those used in Kerestian Darksticks, except on a far greater scale, able to project total darkness over a city as large as Coronet, causing purple energy to arc off the projectors as it does so. It can only remain active for thirty minutes, and the projectors require a fifteen hour recharge process as well as cooldown. Not a cloaking device exactly, but more a deceptive defense used to frighten and demoralize ground forces. The effect is so powerful even the glow from lightsabers is dimmed in output slightly, and flashlights have a chance of blinking out completely, along with any other running lights in the open air or indoors, along with reducing all sound to very difficult to hear levels in the affected area of the projector. This effect can be used in space as well, blotting out the stars and dimming a ships running lights, the field so powerful all noise within the cabins of a ship are reduced to utter silence, due to the extreme proximity of the ship to the projector. This can make it difficult to give out orders on enemy ships, as well as navigate or see important controls. In truth it is simply a much much larger version of smaller, proven technology
Dreaming Wheel Tractor Beam System: Extremely heavy strength tractor beam systems, able to hold even some heavy cruisers for a short period of time, about five minutes maximum. Smaller vessels will have immense difficulty escaping once caught, barring environmental factors, pilot ingenuity, or power failure from the tractor beam
Advanced Biometric Security: Nine Lives found it extremely difficult to break in the first time. It seems to be vampire centric. Once Nine did, she was able to reconfigure the security system towards her ends. Anybody trying to advance through it without het explicit approval won't get far unless they have the tools or are a hacker.
Golden Throne Engine System: A system adapted from the seized remains of an ancient vessel, even older, these engines can push the vessel through space at a speed that other vessels of similar size would have great difficulty matching, though its turning is not nearly so excellent.
Insomnia Hyperdrive System: An experimental class one hyperdrive stolen from Arkania, this can send the vessel to whatever star system it needs to reach, at a rate much faster than most vessels of its size. And its hyperdrive recharges faster.
Sokrovenno Solar Collection Reactors: Unique for the vessel, it collects its power by advanced solar collection reactors mounted on the back that channel power into the main reactor as it orbits a star. Limited by the fact that the vessel is extremely vulnerable when collecting energy...it cannot be deployed while shields are up and the collection reactors are easily damaged by laser fire. Repairs are necessary and often. The tech is very similar though larger and much more primitive versions of both much older and newer technologies, suggesting its designers had an advanced understanding of solar technology that would be difficult to match even today.
Advanced Laboratory: Refurbished after its first destruction between [member="Sawa Ike"] and Ni-Ne, this allows Nine to construct both gadgets and medical research.
Stasis Preservation Chambers: Keeping the entire Coven of Psy-Pires she created in small stasis chambers resembling translucent eggs, The 2500 pods take up surprisingly little space on the ship, as the chambers were created to take up very little space and be as efficient as possible. Their life support system is heavily defended, with multiple failsafes and redundancy.
Dusk Differential Boost System: A curious modification to the ship systems include mechanisms placed throughout the vessel that, when detecting the absence of light, it uses the temperature differential to generate and store electricity which it pumps into the shield system, recharging it slightly faster as well as giving it a slight boost in strength. Its stronger in the dark.
Heavy armor and shields
Ship board droid brain in control of reactor and repair systems.
Large hanger.
Minor smelting and agriculture facilities.
Repair droid work force.
Strengths:
Flying Dutchman: Seeing this large, sinister looking vessel dim all light sources and dampen all sound is bound to have a chance at provoking extreme fear, especially among superstitious spacers who have heard tales of ships getting captured by this thing and their crew losing a few months worth of memories. The panic of not being able to see or hear anything well on one's own ship can be a self feeding cycle. Seeing it in general can also provoke this reaction in some, as its unsettling, menacing appearance and infrequency with which it appears in major or even minor inhabited systems have given rise to ghost stories among spacers who've seen it. Its coincidental similarities in shape to corellian blockade runners such as the one used by Leia Organa gave it the nickname "The Leviathan Tantive".
Fast: This is an extremely fast vessel for its size. Other cruisers may struggle to keep up. Its hyperdrive is even better. It contains many ancient routes not normally used anymore.
Fuel Efficient: Just park in orbit around a star and in a day you'll have enough power to last you at least eight weeks. It seems to run entirely on solar energy and is meant seemingly for near permanent deployment in deep space.
Heavy Defense: Its shields and armor are both capable of withstanding heavy turbolaser and torpedo bombardment from much larger vessels, such as heavy cruisers. In addition, its dusk differential system causes the shields to become slightly stronger the less light there is, so it often hides in the shadow of moons and planets.
Fully functional Diplomatic vessel: Capable of protecting Nine, her entire coven, and presenting an excellent ground on which to do business and project what power she has to others.
Nowhere to run: With its speed, particular hyperdrive modifications, and Navicomputer, there is almost nowhere an enemy of Nine can go that she cannot follow.
Roach Motel: Every good Castle has a dungeon, and Nine's are full of military grade prison cells with mostly mechanical, non electronic methods of restraint.
Morpheus Ship Autonomous System:
"What if I told you I was completely hardcore?"
--Morpheus SAS system log-in welcome line.
The Morpheus SAS is the A.I. which governs nearly all of the Ship's upkeep and function. Unlike many other A.I.'s on the market today, this one is merely an extremely sophisticated Expert System of If-Then responses in regards to the maintainance and protection and defense of the ship. It none the less has a rudimentary, human-grade intelligence due to the sheer level of sophistication and thought that went into the relatively simple system due to the use of Symbol in how it learns and communicates. It authorizes repairs with its own Astromech Droids and Construction Droids or any registered in its system as friendly, and can be interacted with through any SCK (System Communication Kiosk), which takes the form of a simple control panel with symbols for response, and basic scripts for communicating specific numbers and readouts, but mostly through simple symbols for requisitions, maps for direction and other more esoteric symbols for when it wishes to convey a more nuanced response then what it is normally capable of. Multiple ship related symbols and messages attached to them may play out next to one another. Multiple Cameras and Non-Lethal security Turrets firing heavy stun bolts only are placed strategically throughout the ship along with miltiple hard and soft sensors in the hull and deck, monitoring all environmental stimuli including temperature spikes, sound, and ship/medical emergencies. It feeds this into computer terminals in Nine Lives bedchamber. Its main priority is ship survival and the survival of its captain, Nine. It is an outdated system, though the fact it is such an ancient, simple, and closed system with heavily shielded main governing and data circuits means it is not easily compromised by hacking, can reboot and recover relatively quickly from emp exposure, though its outdated OS and niche specialties render it unable to withstand or calculate for military strategy beyond basic, educated guesses from what files it has on basic military manuevers. But its first recourse is to stay alive. The second is always to run, regardless of its Captain's desires at times. It does however maintain an extensive database of how to resist ship boarding efforts, and has crafted scenarios for nearly every eventuality aboard the vessel, though its focus on specifically best protecting this ship renders it vulnerable to invasion at the hands of those skilled at seizing ships with mich more heavily defended traits.
List of basic Symbols used in communication on viewscreens (Note, this list is not extensive, just shows its basic communication method and meaning behind symbols. It has millions on storage):
Green Smiley Face: Condition Green/All systems nominal for whole ship or particular section.
Green Face, Neutral Expression and message of 'Minor', 'Major', or 'ANOMALY' 'UNKNOWN: Caution strongly advised', or both or all four after symbol: Condition Yellow, Major/Minor systems require maintenance, anomaly /unknown, difficult to classify phenomena detected. Systems still work, but caution may be advised. List of damaged systems, approximated causes, and hazards come up soon after, along with reccomended advice for repairs
Green Frowny Face and message of 'Minor', 'Major', 'ANOMALY', UNKNOWN: Caution strongly advised, or all four playing after Symbol: Condition Red, Major, Minor, or All systems suffering critical damage and are in danger of critical failure. If the A.I. is still functional at this point, it will likely only be able to list the damage to sections, types of damage, and only be able to suggest very basic repairs to pull the vessel out of the red and such measures will likely only be temporary at best.
Green Face, Dejected Expression: Abandon Ship Vessel beyond recovery/ In imminent danger of total destruction the following message will play on all screens still functioning and connected to the system:
"No more dreams. End of the Road. We'll meet again on silent shores where there is no more pain, only wisdom."
Security Messages:
Red Face, Happy: Area Secure. No Threats Detected/All threats/anomalies eliminated
Red Face Neutral:Major/Minor Area Compromised/ Under Attack. Reccomend immediate security deployment to contain. List of strategic options, approximation of weapons used in boarding, and status of occupants plays out in list form
Red Face, Angry: Major/Minor area overrun/ No longer under crew control. Reccomend immediate defensive/offensive postures. These options play out in list format, with defense options heavily prioritized.
Red Face, Dejected: Ship Seized. No longer under direct control. Reccomend immediate abandoning of ship if possible. Normal life support cuts off ten minutes after message plays, along with gravity.
Yellow Face, Happy: Hello! How can I help you?
Yellow Face, Nodding: Order confirmed.
Yellow Face, Head Shake: Order Rejected. Red or green symbols will play out usually as the cause...usually.
Yellow Face, Hearts for Eyes: Ship Repairs being conducted.
Yellow Face, Toothy Grin: Ship requisitions being acquired and processed. Will display list of requisitions.
Yellow Face, Smiling, Credit-Symbol eyes: Crew Requisition being processed. Thank you for your custom. Will display list of requisitions.
Yellow Face, evil grin: Visual, Audio recording collected
Yellow Face, Frown: Occupant not authorized to access this area.
Yellow Face, Death Glare: The AI is upset with your for some reason, and will give a list of ship related reasons or usually play recordings related to it.
Yellow Face, Fanged Smile: Usually plays for enemies.
Blue Face, frown: Sad. Will display list or recordimgs as to why.
Pink Face, Smiling: The AI likes you, or at least something like that, given its primitive system.
Priorities are as follows along with Processing Power. The lower the processing power devoted, the slower it is to find a solution, and even if it does, it may not necessarily be an optimal one.
REACTORS/STASIS CHAMBERS LIFE SUPPORT: 45 percent processing power
Devoted to keeping the power going and the stasis chambers containing her people alive as long as possible, coming up with solutions for whatever might be afflicting them in seconds, with sometimes unconventionally creative solutions to problems in minutes
ENGINES/Hyperdrive: Twenty Percent.
The amount of processing power devoted to
the engines means it might take it seven to ten minutes for a solution to be worked out.
SHIELDS: 15 percent
They AI has a sluggishness analyzing and coming up with repair options for the shields, and it may take as much as forty to fifty minutes for a basic list of probable, though not necessarily optimal solutions to be worked out in list format.
INTERIOR DEFENSE: 10 Percent
Due to the low processing power devoted to this in spite of extensive scenarios to counteract efforts to seize the ship, it may actually take a while, as much as an hour, for it to carefully compile a proper and effective, though again, not necessarily optimal response, usually picking based on which scenario in its database most closely matches the one the occupants are experiencing, cross refferencing certain details with ones that may be in other sections of its defense database
MORPHEUS PROJECTOR: Five Percent
Due to complications in processing as well as properly calibrating and maintaining an ultimately non-essential system, it can take up to three hours for it to come up with even basic, cost effective options.
LIFE SUPPORT: 5 percent
That the ship places main life support dead last is telling of its priorities. It prefers the emergency life support of the stasis chambers, and would not hesitate to issue a general order to retreat to those chambers on the event of severe emergency. The captain and the original occupants are prioritized. Anyone else is dead meat.
Minifacturing: The ship has a dedicated smelting and minifacturing center, full of man-sized 3-D printing machines of sophisticated design, capable of reproducing nearly any piece of shipboard equipment or foreign tech so long as it has both the proper materials, schematics, and time, capable of production at a scale just short of industrial.
Bring it: With the right resources and proper staff, the defenses are very hard to breach.
Weaknesses:
No Weapons: It is a mobile castle essentially, not a warship. Nine permitted no weapons such as main guns to be installed, even in her fugue state, as she was not a warlord.
Vulnerable while recharging: While its radiation shielding prevents harm while close to a star to recharge, the fact still remains it cannot use its shields and must charge the reactors for a whole day to store power. This leaves it very vulnerable to attack, so isolated star systems are best for recharging quietly without being harrassed.
Tortoise: This thing may be fast, but its terrible at turns, especially tight ones, this is due to the immense weight
Vulnerable to EMP: It has many strengths, but an emp detonation of significant strength can shut down its shields and life support for a few minutes, leaving its heavy armor the only protection and its solar reactors mounted on the ship vulnerable to turbolaser attack.
Expensive to Repair: Its Morpheus system projectors are one of a kind and requires very skilled technicians to repair them, which can be very expensive, and Nine could be forced to wait for weeks or even months while securing the resources necessary to effect repairs to it or any other critical system...ships of this size do not come cheap, thus, Nine goes out of her way to avoid putting the ship in a combat situation, as the shields, armor, and speed are really only meant to facilitate survival and scare the unsuspecting. Its meant to be bark without real bite
No Stealth Drive: The ship is incapable of truly being hidden and often traverses isolated star systems in the unknown regions to compensate. The ship when it enters a system sends sets off every system sensor due to its unique energy signature.
Easily harrassed. Its engines are fast but due to age take a while to spin up properly, this can allow an enemy to whittle away its shields and armor with enough concentrated fire.
Solar only: The strange focus of its purely solar power systems means it cannot refuel from space stations, only dock for repairs. Thus, if its outer hulls expensive reactors take damage, it is in effect, damaging its only means to take in more power and "fuel".
My needs are greater: The Morpheus System is paranoid about power usage, carefully monitoring where every single watt goes, planning in advance for jumps close to stars. If it feels power loss that would impede function is imminent, it will cancel all operations and flee to the most isolated star it can find in range to top off.
Fruit from a poisonous tree: All systems tap off the main reactor, with no real back up power sources beyond those meant to keep the AI running in the event of failure. If the reactor goes, it would cripple every part of the ship until manually repaired and rebooted.
This may take a while: The ship can effect repairs but if it has no resources it cannot do so unless provided. Also, it can only send out so many tepair units at once, and problems piling up may overwhelm its ability to respond to any but the most distressing in a timely manner. All others bes
Have to wait.
THIS one goes there, THAT one goes THERE: Nine was never much of a ship expert. She knew enough to get it running but actually running it without the aid of the AI would severely diminish her control over the ship, and would have to resort to acquiring and training specialized crew.
Locations on ship.
Throne room
Nine personally carved the stone and steps leading to it. The throne room is somber and lonely, and used for when Nine must decide what course of action to take against her foes and what judgments she must render on her own people.
Training chambers:
Used for sparring.
Guest rooms:
Modest personal quarters, though luxurious for their size, thirty in all. Full color holoprojectors were recently installed, featuring a number of scantily clad dancers, both male and female, in a variety of styles of dancing, are available to select from a central monitor, along with appropriate music
Barracks:
Directly adjacent to the throne room, this is where Nine's personal guard rested and could be dispatched to the rest of the ship from the small tram system it connects. Stocked with its own armory and security offiice
Engineering:
Where the ship droid brain monitors the engines and reactors constantly. Also where much of the minifacturing takes place.
Bedchamber:
Personal Bedchamber of the First Psy-Pire, complete with personal armory. Much larger than most personal bedchambers due to the fact Nine herself not only sleeps here, but also her most trusted guards and advisor, making it almost a loft rather than purely a bedrrom, with multiple sections including a sonic shower, a sauna, and what can only be described as a personal dungeon connected to it.
Hanger: Large enough to hold two light frieghter type vessels. Or one large courier vessel. Actually one of the most beautiful sections of the ship, due to the ancient Atrisian frescoes Nine had painted on the ceiling.
Bridge:
Where the magic happens. The bridge is large, with almost an observatory like set up,
Green House:
a section of the ship, located close to the throne room. Contains plant life Nine grows, either for prettying up the place, or for conducting deadly medical experiments.
Lab:
Where the really mean stuff is conducted, everything from implants to germs can be worked on in this lab.
Library
Where Nine stores her repository of knowledge. She learned a lot in five centuries of research...
Ship Security Camera appearance:
Ship repair droid
Description: Castle Morpheus is an ancient star cruiser built on Atrisia and disguised as an immobile Fortress. It is unclear exactly who built it, but it was known that they were vampires: much of the biometrics only respond to vampires. Disguised as one of many fortresses on Atrisia, albeit stranger in design, this vessel was the source of the bacterial outbreak that nearly doomed Atrisia to an infestation of energy vampires. Only after her transformation into Nine Lives and through investigation of it did the then newly created vampire realise what she had discovered. In her fugue state, she schemed to get the vessel back in working order, sending her agents out to retrieve the resources necessary,. It took her a very long time to get it back to flight worthy status, excavating it from its ancient resting base in the mountains of her homeworld and restoring it to working condition. She never got a chance to fly it however as she snapped out of her fugue and began desperate work on undoing the results of a disastrous fugue that had spread her disease to others. But members of her personal guard awoke from their own slumber recently, and finding their "mother" missing have begun a search for her, restoring the vessel and bringing its systems back online, undoing [member="Sawa Ike"]'s sealing of the vessel, overwhelming Sawa's men taking the vessel to the stars to bring the mother of all psy-pires back under their protection...whether she wants them to or not. The ship, in the short time it has been active as gained an infamous reputation from scattered encounters., and is run by a ship AI. that places its existence and its captain first and everything else second.
