Caston Arkith was born a nobody. Like countless trillions across the galaxy, he was born into an average family; enough to their name to survive, but never enough to truly thrive. The seventh child, Caston learned early on that those who followed the rules and lived the way society wanted rarely achieved anything. Even as a child, this thought motivated him to push beyond the rest of his peers, excel in everything he did, and work hard to ensure he would never be just another person, just another decimal point in some galactic powers tax system. He would be someone no matter what it took.

With his excellent education, Caston was able to enter a promising university program on his homeworld of Dremulae. Here, he progressed his studies into ancient history and archeology, thinking that a great discovery in this field would be his ticket to a better life. During a trip to a border world of the Galactic Alliance, a casket was discovered and brought back by the university for study. Caston was chosen as one of the four other students to study, identify, and reveal the truth of this caskets origin. The process started well enough, but as time progressed, Caston and the other students began to grow more agitated with one another. Fights would break out, and one of the other students was forced to withdraw from the study when she tried to break the casket.

After two months of this, Caston and the others opened the casket finally after unlocking the seals that held it shut against their prying. Within, they found the skeletal remains of an ancient warrior, a Jedi or Sith by the looks of the lightsaber at his side, and clutched in its hands was a glowing red pyramid. A voice spoke to Caston then, urging him to take the holocron for himself, and as he reached for it, so did the other students. The fight that ensued left the other dead at Caston's feet, and he claimed the holocron and weapon for himself. His new life had truly begun.
