STANDARD FEATURES

ADVANCED SYSTEMS
  • NZ T.o.P. 1 Tactical Order Package [MP] To upgrade and enhance the Installed AI's overall performance and to increase the maximum of subroutines and protocols which can be integrated into the AI's central databank and granting a much smoother processing capacity, speed and power.
  • FAE/S-09 Active Harmonizing System (MP) To increase the overall competence of the integrated weapons systems and to allow for a much smoother transition between the weapons systems and their repeated use.
  • FAE/S-07 Offensive Retention System (MP) To prevent remote deactivation and tampering with weaponry systems by the enemy.
  • Animated Metal Sealant
STRENGTHS
  • Fully Automated: Loaded out to the gills with a bevy of electronic systems and one of the most highly rated AI systems on the market, this ship is capable of functioning on peak performance with a much lower crewsize than most other ships of its size, allowing for a much larger number of troops to be carried and allowing for a larger fleet with lower personel count.
  • Very good allrounder: With an excellent defense, adequate offensive capacity and a very large cargo capacity and starfighter contingent, the Castor I - Class boasts a versatility that is virtually unseen among most mass market carriers within its market class, allowing for it to have multiple roles as a personal capital ship, as the backbone of small fleets or as one of the most reliable back ups in larger fleets.
  • Quality to match its quantity: The use of various new and old, wellknown materials chosen for their outstanding reputation within their field or the intent to be loaded out with the best materials possible coupled with the N&Z's known buildquality promises a ship which can take a heavy beating and still would manage to trudge on.
  • Primary and secondary reactors: Unlike most ships, the Castor I-class SAO has not one, but two main reactor systems, with one being permanently active, while the second one either chips in when the power reserves are low or when there is strenious activity. It also prevents the ship from getting to be left stranded when there is a failure or malfunction in the primary system.
WEAKNESSES
  • Fully Automated: When the internal electronics or the AI would be compromised, the low personel count can become a weakness, as when it runs on a skeleton crew, it will not have enough personel to run the ship smoothly and on peak performance, the inability to run every system manually would become a great hassle and something one wouldn't hope to encounter in the heat of battle.
  • Exposed Engine exhausts: Though they have been iutfitted with the typically standard heatshields, with the ship's shielding down, these can be a veritable weak point to crippled the ship.
  • Exposed Shield system: With a bit of shuffling in terms of the weaponry placements, several of the shield system's components have been relocated near the communications' array, making these more visible and thus more vulnerable for attacks.
DESCRIPTION
Based on the original Castor I class carrier cruiser, this version of the ship swaps out it's flak turrets for a few of Vandemar Techwright's plasma disruptors for starters, while replacing all the ersteel 145 with the ersteel SLCA alloy. it boasts an improved load out in terms of sensory equipment and overall firing capacity and versatility, having replaced a whole bunch of its original missile pods in favor of heavy lancer canons and the aforementioned plasma disruptors.

With its reactor replaced by a Vandemar Techwrights' 'White Dwarf' reactor, relegating the CHARM to the position of secondary reactor, the Castor can now boast higher efficiency and proficiency in the field as it is less likely for repeated maneuvres, firing all weapons or maintaining shields would have much of an impact on the ships' overall functionality and energy reserves.

Though it didn't exactly change much in terms of overall speed, maneuvrability or other aspects, The Castor did manage to improve its overall quality and defenses quite a bit on the structural level, allowing for a better reliability and use in the field without worry.
