Looking for freedom...
Not sure if I'm posting this in the right place. I'm sure if there's a better place for this, I'm sure a mod will move it. If so, thank you!
Anyway, Cathar; we all looooove our anthros, and there's even a custom race on this forum of fox people who, I might add quite enviously, have tails. So Cathar, do they have tails?
Now right off the bat I know someone is gonna say "Well they don't have tails in SWTOR", and I'm gonna call BS on that. Tail mechanics are fairly tricky to program, especially in conjunction with several layers of robes, and it's considerably easier to simply not add tails to a playable race. Hell, they got really lazy with the fur patterns; when you go to play a Cathar in SWTOR, any facial patterns you pick do not extend to the rest of the body, so if you have a nekkid Cathar then she's gonna be all one color save her face. And have you seen the Togruta (both the companion NPC and the new playable race)? Same deal, any face patterns don't extend to the rest of the body, it's lazy! The point is, in this instance I don't count SWTOR as a credible reference when the omission of a tail could have quite easily been lazy programming on an old game.
There's not a lot written about Cathar in Wookiepedia, and some image material from comics is shown, but I'm dubious on these. Okay, a few are shown clearly without tails, but they've also shown that there are sub-races with variations in the presentation of feline traits. What if there's a sub-race with tails? And I swear I remember mention of a Cathar who had a tail in one of the books, but I can't remember which book.
I know some GMs (just in general, can't speak for this game specifically since I'm still new) will make exceptions on some details, and while I am not necessarily asking for an exception, a little clarification of what is or is not acceptable for this is in order. I would like a tail for my Cathar character, but I certainly won't demand one. Just looking for a little friendly discussion and maybe some feedback from a moderator.
