DESCRIPTION
When handling suspects in close quarters on worlds like Denon, CorpSec is often tasked with incapacitating and arresting suspects first rather than trying to de-escalate conflict at the scene. In an urban setting, where many denizens make use of cybernetics and concealed weaponry, taking down suspects quickly and without too much bloodshed is a primary goal of the CBE-19 'Sick Stick' Paralysis Mace.

With a menacing look, the Sick Stick carries a potent secret of its own: a paralytic agent designed to act on most humanoid species. If properly administered, the paralytic is designed to create muscle weakness within the victim to discourage additional movement, accompanied by pain and nausea to discourage coherent conversation or any verbal instructions to beings nearby. Some humanoid species may be resistant to this drug, as well as Force Users, cyborgs, or beings trained to withstand weakening measures in some fashion. It's unpredictable how such a drug might react within a non-humanoid species as well, though CorpSec officers have reported success in wielding the device against womp rat infestations in their precincts.

Not all CorpSec officers carry the Sick Stick, though it is commonly seen with riot gear or when raids to bring down suspects with protection details or who are known to put up a fight. It takes some skill to wield it well, the limited range makes it a weapon of opportunity more than a combat weapon in a typical firefight. Some CorpSec officers, however, are known to use the Sick Stick after a suspect is in restraints, for reasons and purpose unknown.
