Intent: To supply a contract with Firemane for upgraded, secure communications capabilities.

Development Thread: If necessary

Manufacturer: Corellia Digital

Model: CD-X Series Cryptologic Key

Affiliation: Select Corellia Digital customers only.

Modularity: Highly. As with any computer component, this could be re-purposed by a slicer to function as a decoder, alter the encryption, hack the resident memory, etc.

Production: Mass Produced

Material: Flexiplast (card), Aurodium (circuitry), Agrinium (insulation), memory data crystal

Description: The CD-X is an attachment for vehicle-based comm units or individual comlinks. The device is roughly the size of an average adult human palm, so it is not compatible with smaller comlinks, such as the Hush-98 or most commercial wristlinks. It is intended for use in military-grade systems, such as infantry armor, for secure, protected communications. The CD-X functions as both an encryption module and as a comm unit booster, increasing the range and clarity (fidelity) of transmissions by the host comm unit or comlink. As it has no independent power source or antennae, the CD-X is not a stand-alone comm unit. It has no independent power source, so it is reliant on an external power supply.

Regular Re-Keyed Encryption. The codes for the keys are altered at irregular intervals through the use of a quantum computer, so any keyed device stolen will only remain functional for a limited time.

EMP Hardened. Agrinium insulation housing on the card supplies a first line of defense against electro-magnetic interference. This is sufficient to shield against area effects, such as EMP grenades, but will not protect the internal components from a directed energy strike; such as Sith Lightning or a direct hit from an ion blaster.

Hi, my name is Rusty and I'll be your friendly neighborhood Factory Judge.

Most everything looks good to go. It's nice to see someone taking the idea of COMSEC seriously. There's just one thing you might want to edit before we move on.

Probably better off just putting down the bit about select customers here. It's only open market if anyone can walk in and buy it.

Would you have a specific recommendation of the language to edit in?

Firemane Industries & Technology commissioned the work, but I want to leave open the option to have a faction or other company use it with permission from Corellia Digital.

Hmm. If you change it to Select Digital Corellian Customers only, that still leaves the possibility of selling to other factions or what have you.
