BIG Z1776
Baboon with a MAAWS
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
A simple weapon system which is designed to provide indirect fire support to infantry companies. It is loaded from the muzzle and has no firing-dependent moving parts. The moving parts are exclusively in the elevation mechanism which can be overridden and done manually in case of damage. Capable of firing shells directly up into the air to land on its own position there is no true safe place from this weapon for targets who aren't inside of hard cover outside of its maximum range of eight kilometers. Usually this weapon is deployed at the company level with teams of four troops, two holding the weapon and a pair of four-round cases while the other two carry the rest of their ammunition. In the field a CRAF mortar crew carries sixty-four mortar shells in varying types according to the mission. In an infantry company there will be twelve teams divided into six nine-man squads and are spread out amongst the rifle platoons and are on a separate comms net with that platoon's leader and platoon sergeant and are on call for support fire. They aren't capable of anti-armor fire, seeing as their shells are either High Explosive, Cluster, and Smoke (In white, red, green, blue, orange, yellow, and purple).
