BIG Z1776
Baboon with a MAAWS
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
A slim canister with deploying thrusters which activate at a pre-set altitude and guide the shaped charge warhead onto its target. When it explodes in the air it sends out a lethal cloud of shrapnel from a durasteel fragmented jacket which cuts down any soft targets in the area while the proton charge goes straight into its main target. These submunitions hit their targets based upon thermal and magnetic signatures, and if they find no acceptable signatures they spread out to maximize the lethal shrapnel area and explode in tandem. These submunitions are meant to be deployed from MDP-40 Dispensers, which carry 112 of them, or "Spearhead" Heavy Surface-to-Surface Missiles, which carry twenty-four of them where a heavy warhead would normally go. This makes this a go-to weapon for the CRAF who use it on rear-area targets and frontline targets alike. Its primary weakness is that it won't be destroying heavy armor pieces nor will it neutralize bunkers, but the CRAF has other weapons for those purposes.

- Internal guidance to thermal and magnetic targets
- Small thrusters within the submunition which activate after reaching a pre-determined altitude
- Powerful shaped-charge warhead
- Semi-precision munition
- Shaped charge weapon allows for a certain degree of armor penetration.
- Relatively simple construction.
- Effective against infantry and light armor.
- Fragmentation jacket makes warheads prone to causing excessive collateral damage.
- Very limited flight capabilities, can only stay in the air for a moment or two before the thruster quits and the warhead explodes.
- Unstable due to being a proton-type warhead.
- Ineffective against heavy armor or underground targets.
