BIG Z1776
Baboon with a MAAWS
OUT OF CHARACTER INFORMATION
The "Viper" Droid Starfighter is the premier defense fighter of the Crossroads Republic. Wherever there is a defensive facility or a garrison of Crossroads troops there is at least a wing of three squadrons of Vipers nearby. It does however have an offensive role, it is the Crossroads military's preferred SEAD platform, its advanced ECM jammers were able to home in and get in close enough to strike major air defense components like powerful scanners and sensors with specialized missiles slung under its belly. More often than not though, it is the Vipers that patrol the space around the Crossroads colonies and Crossroads Prime, and whenever someone violates restricted space or decides to otherwise draw the ire of the authorities it will be a flight of Vipers that will be the first to respond. And due to the fact the inertial dampeners are minimal and it does not have a hyperdrive or deflector shielding makes it fairly low-cost craft, and its small size means that hundreds of thousands are in service with the Crossroads military. RPers are reminded that this fighter is a disposable en masse weapon, but it is not ineffective at its intended roles, particularly its ability to hunt down and take apart complex air defense networks and swarm incoming bombers.

- Powerful engines and excellent avionics makes this an ideal interceptor coupled with its rapid scramble time due to it being a droid.
- Two hard-points for ground attack missiles or bombs in between the central fuselage and outboard engines.
- Reentry shields for going in and out of atmosphere at speed.
- Has a built-in kamikaze contingency if it is damaged and unable to return or otherwise incapable of engaging a target like a ship.
- Advanced ECM Jammer pod built into the belly of the aircraft underneath the fuselage, able to jam and track positions of missiles and scanners for self-defense and mimic many different EM profiles.
- Advanced holographic projector able to mimic detailed models of different starfighters, bombers, and dropships several times its own size for use in decoy roles.
- Advanced dogfighting programs developed from Crossroads best pilots as well as from analysis of notable dogfights between other Chaos powers with hundreds of starships' specs and strengths and weaknesses downloaded into the droid brain with contingency maneuvers for each craft in the even they are faced.
- Flexible mission sets, able to take on the role of interceptor, escort, light bomber, SEAD, and decoy droid.
- Quite fast and very agile.
- Small profile, makes it a small target.
- Easy to manufacture.
- Has no hyperdrive
- Requires an equipped command center to operate at best capacity when in a ground-support role.
- Rather fragile due to not possessing deflector shields.
- Possesses no anti-ship weapons like proton torpedoes.
