- Structure Name: Chalacta Healing Center
- Classification: Structural Ruins
- Location: Chalacta
- Affiliation: The Scar Worlds
- Accessibility: Public/Dead Planet. The invasion of the Bryn'adul brought about the genocide of the Chalactan populace, while the subsequent collapse of the Bryn'adul empire has left the planet largely abandoned by its new masters. The ruins are open to the environment and dangerous as the damaged structure continues to collapse.
- Description: The structural ruins of a large hospital complex that once featured on the surface on the planet Chalacta that operated with combined resources drawn from the Silver Jedi Concord, Witches of Dathomir, and Chalactan Adepts. The hospital was decimated following the Bryn'adul invasion of Chalacta and subsequent genocide of the Chalacta populace. Due to the environmental changes caused to the planet by the terraforming process used by the Bryn'adul, a breath mask is required.
The Chalacta Healing Center consisted of three main buildings.
- The Main Hospital was the largest and central structure of the complex. Today, it is little more than a few partial walls and support structures jutting up from out of the scorched earth. It's upper floors held the Halls of Healing, with no evidence remaining of the tall spire. The morgue was located beneath the structure and forms the most complete section of the ruins, though some sections have caved in as the ruins above sink into the ground.
- Hospice. A second structure housing terminally-ill patients making the transition, only foundation of this building remains.
- Wellness Center. A third structure, housing both physical therapy and consular services for the re-settlement of refugees, very little of this structure is present today. It is possible that some records of people re-settled or present at the center at the time of the Bryn'adul invasion might still be located here.
SECURITY
None.
HISTORICAL INFORMATION
The Chalactan Healing Center was the product of the war with the Bryn'adul. As the Bryn'adul pushed into Concord space, the Chalactans found themselves both preparing for their own potential evacuation, while simultaneously flooded with refugees and wounded escaping from the Bryn'adul atrocities committed just outside of Chalactan space. When that happened, the Temple of Illumination sent out a request for help. To their surprise, that call was answered by three different unlikely allies: the Jedi, the Witches of Dathomir, and the Healer's Guild. At the time of the Concord's retreat from Yurb, a makeshift hospital was already in full operation inside of the Temple of Illumination.
Using grants and resources from the Concord and Chalactan governments, as well as private investors such as Corellia Digital, the hospital facilities were quickly constructed from modular units. With the re-drawing of geopolitical lines bringing Chalacta closer to the Bryn'adul conflict in 864 ABY, the facility was designed to be evacuated rapidly in case of a planetary emergency. During its years in operation, the hospital received medical ships and ambulance shuttle from across the quadrant, with its focus being on healing and rehabilitation of those afflicted by the Bryn'adul attacks. Consular and embassy services were incorporated to process visas and or asylum applications for the Concord, while grief and other social counseling services are available to help prepare displaced persons or families to resettle.
Functionally, the hospital was divided along four principal lines of effort: Hospital Care, Hospice Care, Mortuary Care, Rehabilitative Care.
Hospital Care was primarily accomplished through emergency care, in-patient, and out-patient services at the main building. These are both immediate and routine medital treatments. Staff at this part of the hospital is composed of a majority of Jedi Healers and non-Force Sensitive medical practitioners, both doctors and nurses. A number of medical droids provide an additional layer of support. Witches of Dathomir and Chalactan Adepts are used less often to support this line of effort.
Hospice Care was the inverse of how the hospital care line of effort is organized. Here, the Witches of Dathomir and Chalactan Adepts form the majority of staff, with Jedi Healers and non-Force Sensitives providing less support than with hospital care. The focus of this part of the facility is on quality of life and transition for those diagnosed with terminal conditions. A few BB-4001X companion droids operate in this part of the facility as well, primarily for socialization and upkeep.
Mortuary Care was primarily provided by droid support, with the Witches of Dathomir and non-Force Sensitives providing organic support. The goal of this part of the facility is to provide post-mortem diagnosis when required, properly and respectfully house the remains of the deceased, and to provide for a final resting place or return to the individual's family when possible.
Rehabilitative Care was primarily tended to by the Chalactan Adepts, with support from the Jedi. The emphasis and focus on this area of the hospital is on physical therapy, mental and spiritual recovery, and return to ordinary life. Group therapy sessions are available for those dealing with the loss of their homeworld or species. Resources are also available to help displaced individuals or families find new homes or new employment on planets in Concord space.
Between 864 and 867 ABY, the Bryn'adul invaded the planet of Chalacta, along with further strikes into Silver Jedi space that included Alee, Sarka, and the Roche Asteroids. Emergency evacuation of the planet ensured amid the chaos, in which the Jedi and their allies attempted to protect the planet against the genocide of the invading force, but were not successful in holding the planet. The ruins of the structure that remain are just one of the scars it bears of the resulting conflict.
