Private Change of Pace

With a groan, her hand reached up to the source of pain on her head but pulled away after gently touching the tender spot. Soon, her eyes opened and she gradually adjusted to the brightness and the situation she found herself in. Next, her gaze shifted to back of her hand, bandaged and with a tube protruding. Her expression shifted into one of confusion as she assessed both the room and herself.

As if on cue, the door opened and a woman in uniform walked in. Upon seeing Zoraya awake, she walked over in an overly cheery attitude. "Oh! You're awake. How're you feeling?" She asked as she placed a hand on the other woman's forehead. While normally such a move would receive harsh resistance from the Imperial, she was in no position not to comply on this occasion.

"Where am I?" She asked, hoarsely. "You're in Thani General Hospital." The nurse replied whilst opening the curtains as if to prove it. It didn't clarify anything. "What..?"

"Do you have any family I can call for you?" She asked and after a few blank moments while she thought, Zoraya replied and turned her head to the side, gazing out of the window. "No." she lied, doubtful they would come anyway.

"I'll try and find a doctor to come and talk to you." The nurse told her, prompting a small nod of acknowledgement from the other before the nurse left the room.

Left alone to ponder, she wondered how she had gotten here and whether anyone knew where she was.

Walking through the halls of Thani General Hospital, Morgan was having a hard time finding his target. It was already a pain to even find out what planet she was on... let alone where exactly. At least the top brass did the heavy lifting in that regard, he was simply the lucky trooper who was chosen to go on this retrieval mission. One of the few times him and the rest were reminded that 16th company was also a special operations unit, not just shock troopers.

Dressed in military cargo pants and a long-sleeved shirt, he didn't look anything like a Mandalorian. And the falsified documents he had would likely take some people by surprise, the wounded agent included. "Hey babygirl, what's good?" He greeted with a bright smile as he reached the next floor's reception desk. Theoretically this was the right one. "I'm hoping you could help me, I'm lookin' for my girl. Name's Zoraya, red head, she was booked in here a while back." He explained calmly with a hopeful expression as he showed her the agent's photo. It took the nurse a moment to find Zoraya, but eventually he got his directions. "Thanks! Have a good one, beautiful." She winked as he spun on his heel and marched down the hall with enthusiasm.

Hot damn, he needed to get back to the theatres. His acting was slipping.

When he finally reached her door, he gently knocked and entered casually... only to pause and blink in surprise at her appearance. "Top brass said you was gone for a good-ass long while... but damn." He gave a high-pitched chuckle as he closed the door behind him and brought up a hologram of his chain code. "Name's Morgan. Top brass sent me to come ge'chu back home. The doctors say if you could go yet?" He explained as he walked over, pulled a chair closer and sat down.

With barely a moment to gather herself and assess the situation, she was soon greeted by another person. With a room with more traffic coming through than a train station in Ravelin, she was beginning to get irritated, especially being in such a delicate state, as she quickly found out when trying to push herself into a sitting position but struggling to do so.

When faced with the newcomer, her expression was one of suspicion. She eyed the chain code and then looked him up and down. It didn't pay to be too trusting in her line of work so when faced with a stranger who claimed to want to take her 'home' when she had little defence to prevent otherwise once they left the hospital, she was naturally cautious. In a life of secrecy and deception, one mistake was the difference between life and death.

"Who sent you?" She enquired before she tried to grab the tube to pull out but her fingers were uncooperative so she soon became frustrated and sat back with a sigh, only to find the stranger had taken to invading her personal space. While normally she would've rebuked the man, she was more reserved and simply gave a long sigh and a disapproving look.

"I don't know. I haven't seen a doctor." She replied, her expression shifting into a frown. "I don't even know why I'm here. Did I get shot?" She asked, a hand running over her abdomen to check for any wounds. "No..." She pondered for a moment with the information she had but couldn't even determine why she was in Thani in the first place which aroused even more suspicions.

Whether or not she considered leaving with him would be as a result of how trustworthy she deemed him.

Morgan nodded casually, understanding Zoraya’s suspicions of him. He would have done the same if their positions were reversed. ”Top brass. Way up top. Sixteenth is in a lull and they could spare an officer for a sensitive job like this. So here I am.” He explained with a shrug. ”You wanna see the mission briefing or are you gonna take a gamble on me?” He asked as he pulled his datapad out and sat down in a chair next to her bed.

Morgan was surprised when she seemingly had no clue what happened to her, and the doctors didn’t seem too inclined to help her out as well. He blinked and rose from his seat, looking to the door. ”Let’s get a doctor in here then.” he leaned over and hit the call button for a doctor, waiting patiently for their arrival. If the doctor didn’t hurry up, they could take the more typical approach.

In the meantime, he looked down at Zoraya. ”What do you remember? Any mission you were on? Anything standing out?” He asked her. Top brass was a bit squeamish about giving him info on what the ISB agent was doing prior to her disappearance.
