Corin stared quietly into the burning flames. The forest near the Shadow Academy was silent in this night, the only sound the crackling of the flames. The smoke rose high into the air, a pillar of darkness against the last rays of sunlight. Lain across the was the last tattered remnants of the Resurgent Empire flags that had previously flown around the Shadow Academy.
A few of the academies students were with Corin. Most did not fully grasp the purpose of what Corin was doing, but a few of the older ones knew. They were no longer going to be Sith. As the hours passed, and Corin did not move from his place, the students began to depart back to the Shadow Academy. The fire eventually died out, but Corin remained where he was, staring at the last few dying embers.
After a time, he finally moved, unclipping his lightsaber from his belt. The weapon used to be solid black, with no colors or ornamentation. Now, it had been rebuilt to be pure silver. Corin turned to saberstaff over in his hand a few times, before gripping it tighter. He thumbed the weapon to life.
Twin orange blade ignited from either side of the staff, illuminating the shadows around him with the color. He stared at the new light for a time, before deactivating the blade. He had made his decision.
