Character Idea: Partial Redemption.

Well-Known Member
So yeah, I've recently been toying with the idea of a Lightsided Sith-like Character who works for the Republic, and it seems to be a recurring idea that just never really gets executed.

Basically what the story I have in my head now is that there is a boy whose parents are slaves... and not just any slaves, but formerly slaves of the late Darth Voracitos. They died in the coup, placing great sorrow on the lad, because it turns out he doesn't even want to be a Sith... or Jedi, or anything! He just wants to raise a family, but can't because the force has plagued his family. When inevitably the Empire falls, I expect that he will be found by Republic forces, but he would surrender himself, even so far as rendering himself unconscious to make them realize he means no harm.

Once captured as a prisoner of war, he would be interrogated by someone (preferably a Jedi). The lad would plead for the redemption of the sins he has committed simply to survive the Sith academy, and its gruesome trials. Eventually his emotion and over all sincerity convinces his Interrogator to bring him before the Jedi (maybe even their Council!) to be judged.

I think for awhile he would train as a Padawan under a Master... but at some point he confesses that he feels unfulfilled. He finds a higher truth in the Sith Code he had been taught than of the Jedi's code. He believes that if looked at correctly without corruption, and stripped of its heinous origins, could make a man greater than he was before by following it, a better moral man. He also believes that after reviewing the Jedi Code, he believes that the light of the Jedi is too bright, and burns and destroys because it forces upon the imperfect universe balance, harmony, and "peace", which is truthfully an unnatural state of being.

Basically here is his interpretations:

Sith Code and Interpretation

Peace is a lie, there is only passion. = Never settle, follow your heart.
Through passion, I gain strength. = Your feelings strengthen your resolve.
Through strength, I gain power. = Your strength empowers your influence.
Through power, I gain victory. = Through that power you shall achieve greatness.
Through victory, my chains are broken. = In victory your spirit is unbound.
The Force shall free me. = You will be free

Jedi Code Interpretation

There is no emotion, there is peace. = Fall deaf to you heart, all must be still.
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. = Let your mind conquer feeling
There is no passion, there is serenity. = Your heart must be dead, to ice the world solid
There is no chaos, there is harmony. = Suppress life, all must be melancholy
There is no death, there is the force. = Life is chained, and tossed into the abyss.

He'll be a righteous Sith fighting for his passion of love (not just relationship/family love, but love of everything) along side Jedi (maybe)

What do you think? And if it's TLDR just don't comment at all plz, thank you.

I am pleased by the positive review so far :) Perhaps he shall be made then. I suppose I should make him and make his debut with the Invasion of Korriban.

I struggled with the name, and I can't find an image I really like.

I'm open to suggestions while I write this dude up a little.

Interesting idea, but there are a number of contradictions here. If his ideology is directly opposed to the Jedi, why would he fight alongside them? Also, the Jedi would consider him a heretic, so why would they want to take him in?

Well he doesn't realize his beliefs right away, and he fights alongside them because he shall grow an appreciation and loyalty to the Republic. Though his background would be clear, and his customs difficult to remove, they would see the light within him. What they do with this dim candle light among the vast ocean of darkness, death, and decay is totally up to them. They may try to snuff it out and call me an anomaly, or they may try to kindle it into a shape pleasing to them.

Does that make sense?

I see that you are basically trying to leave it up to the Jedi to do what they will with him, which is fair... but I think any true, non-hippy Jedi would want nothing to do with him. He presents far too much of a risk and once he realizes his beliefs, the Jedi, if they are acting according to principle, would bounce him from the Order.

What makes him want to fight for the Republic? To me, his viewpoints sound like he should be some sort of independent Dark Jedi who favors neither the Sith nor the Jedi, but goes his own way. A true rogue.

Then perhaps that shall happen.

He favors Republicanism because he was raised by a government that told you what you were doing, and he was a first hand slave to a dictator. In the Republic you have options at least, and as a group you have the option to sway the decisions of the Republic. Having a voice is important to him, and his voice was suppressed with the Dark Sith.
