Happy 2025 to everyone!

Been a crazy start of the year for me so a little late on this than I wanted to be. However, time to get your January 2025 nominations for Character of the Month! Looking forward to who will be the first COTM for 2025 and will be joining our stellar bunch of COTMs, such as Lodd Grimmin Lodd Grimmin , Marlon Sularen Marlon Sularen , Darth Malum of House Marr Darth Malum of House Marr , Corazona von Ascania Corazona von Ascania , Jenn Kryze Jenn Kryze , Darth Caedes Darth Caedes , Roman Vossari Roman Vossari , Naamino Zuukamano Naamino Zuukamano and Micah tol Powl Micah tol Powl !

Here are the rules as normal:

The rules are as following:

  • Nominate a character that is not of your writing that has impressed you in the last month.
  • Give the reasons why.
    • Please include thread links for others to see why you love the character so much.
  • You may nominate someone that has already been nominated, they will be listed once in the voting stage and the reasons combined into one.
  • This is for In Character stuff.
  • During the nomination step, you must ask the winner a question for your nomination to count. Yes, that means in this thread, along with the nomination also put a question for the eventual winner, ya scamp.
  • During the voting, please limit yourselves to one vote.
  • Character must have been active in the last month to qualify, would be great if you would keep it to the last months exploits too.
  • Characters can only win once.
  • Please do not nominate Staff.
  • One week to nominate. Approximately.

* Character may not reign as Character of the Month for an exact month. You will live.

Looking forward to all the nominations and seeing what awesome threads and interactions everyone has been getting up to this month!

I have quite a few I had to think about, but one stands out among them for their posting since I returned and they deserve the honor.

My nomination is Kaila Irons Kaila Irons

This Sith Lord who has an incredible balance of spreading power, strength and fortifying her ambitions and still remaining "aware of their junior position" (and hurtfully being made aware), insecurity and humanity - its an incredible well balanced and intriguing character to read and deserves a great deal of respect. Fearsome, heartwarming, imposing, loyal. Darth Anathemous deserves it.

Threads: Serpent of Echnos, Friend Or Foe, Return to Susevfi (<- especially this one), When you play the Game of Thrones, Halls of Valhalla

Question: Do you think she could ever fall to the Light side or is she too stubborn for any kind of falling?

Protest voting Quinn Varanin Quinn Varanin :[

Diarch Rellik Diarch Rellik

Super active. their story is very interesting. Been reading his and Reigns interactions as they lead the MF diarchy and his other storylines.

Question: if your chars planet was about the explode, and can only take two materialistic things off planet, what would they grab?
Gotta second the Brother.

Question: What is your favorite thread that your character has been in?

Hello! Going to third this nomination xD

My nomination is @Kaila Irons

Kaila has been such a pivotal role in my character's personal story. She has been so valuable as a writer to both the SO and to me for pushing narratives and including others into said narrative. I appreciate her enthusiasm for storytelling. I back what both Darth Imperius Darth Imperius and Darth Moskvin Darth Moskvin have stated about Kaila Irons Kaila Irons . Good luck!

Protest voting @Quinn Varanin

LOL I wish, I do enjoy that this is how most people realized that my main account is an RPJ Allyson Locke Allyson Locke

So like Judah Lesan Judah Lesan I have to decline the nomination, but deeply appreciate the thought and the acknowledgement

Question: Where does you're inspiration for your character come from?

I would say Diarch Rellik Diarch Rellik not because he is any better than Kaila Irons Kaila Irons but simply because direct and indirect I have had more writing with him. His character is basically the vader to Reigns palpatine, way more brutish and straightforward, without being another dull brute.

Question: if you could have any actor to portray your character in a hypothetical live action adaptation, who would it be and why?

Governor Pro Tempore, Dantooine
I wish I could put in more than one vote, because I've seen so much excellent RP throughout December. As someone who is brand new to Star Wars RP, I was impressed not only with the RP itself, but also with the candor and respect that players show each other, even when we have some serious OOC disagreements.

If it was up to me, both Diarch Rellik Diarch Rellik and Kaila Irons Kaila Irons would get a vote. But as Highlander taught us, "there can be only one".

The reason I am voting for Diarch Rellik Diarch Rellik is not just because of his RP, and not because he shares a faction with me.

I am voting for Rellik for his OOC conduct. Rellik has gone above and beyond to include as many different people, characters, and themes into the Diarchy roleplays as he can. He's warm and friendly, even when his characters hate other characters and are in duels with them. I've seen him work so tirelessly not only for the benefit of the MF Diarchy participants, but for everyone who RPs with him. Even when Rellik had a terrible illness for part of this month, he was eager to hop on the Discord and continue to put in fire posts and help us work on our codex lore.

I want to bring particular attention to the Mission to Malachor Thread, where Rellik roleplayed fighting two opponents at once. I feel like this is a complicated type of duel to plan out and portray, and he did it with a masterful touch.

So, TLDR, my vote is for Diarch Rellik Diarch Rellik for not only his fire RP posts, but for his impeccable OOC conduct.

QUESTION: What kinds of stories did you enjoy growing up?

Far out, I have to vote...

Well there is one trouble maker that on the forum I can think of this month that deserves it.

Kaila Irons Kaila Irons

I mean, the amazing writing is just something special and the way Kaila Irons Kaila Irons has evolved as a character in the last month alone has been incredible to watch. I really can't think of anyone else who deserves it more that I can actually vote for (Maybe Diarch Rellik Diarch Rellik comes in close second). This is a story that not only I have the pleasure to be written in but has shaped TSO as a whole in incredible ways.

Question to the winner: When does Kaila finally get a break? XD

Being nominated by what feels emotionally like half the site is not how I expected to find out COTM was starting but it's certainly a welcome surprise! Love yall! <3

As for my nomination, it was tough because I've had the pleasure of reading and writing with a lot of interesting characters recently, but I think Serina Calis Serina Calis definitely stands out.

Contrary to this, Serina as a character does a fantastic job of hiding her actions in the shadows as an orchestrator of grand and dark things, though she began as a simple jedi padawan once. Her struggle with being the unwilling center of a prophecy has been an intriguing story to read, especially because these stories are usually done very poorly in RPs but Serina has managed to do it well and without taking over anyone else's story, all the puzzle pieces seem to fit snugly into place even when you don't know it!

From her delving into the Holicron of Darth Malak behind the backs her Jedi masters to encounters with sith on Rakata Prime in search of his flagship, to battling dark side spirits and making friends with a confused sith who actually inspired Serina towards redemption, only to be tragically killed in the jedi temple, followed by her mysterious resurrection as a dark jedi. I have watched this character grow from a snarky padawan with big ideas to a mature and calculating sorceress that rivals some of the best puppet masters out there.

But I've also seen this character go through so much hardship, such as her secret orchestration of the second battle for susevfi, resulting in the death of her friend Quinn Varanin Quinn Varanin , sending the entire empire reeling and scrambling to bring her to her mother, The Empress, for resurrection. I can tell just from Serina's following posts after Quinn's capture that this has all done a number on Serina as a character, and that the writer isn't here for a winning streak, but to tell of both tragedy and triumph.

With my long winded explanation out of the way, here is my question for the winner:

Q: What has been your character's biggest achievement or proudest moment so far, and what has been their most gut-wrenching defeat or failure?

nominating Briana Sal-Soren Briana Sal-Soren . obviously I’m biased since she’s Thayze’s Master, but she is also a very well written character with insane character depth. from her breakup thread with Aiden Rennek Aiden Rennek , the thread with Naboo padawans, and the wedding thread where she had to watch Astor Daaray Astor Daaray brutally murdered by scummy peasants (let them eat cake!!!), you can easily get immersed in her story.

moreover, when you are reading her post, it doesn’t only feel like you’re reading a post, or even a thread, but an important chunk of her life story as the writer has such a masterful way to sew all details in her posts and threads which build a one holistic narrative.

all in all, with the continuation of her story this month alone, combined with her role in making Naboo such a vibrant location to write in, I think Briana is more than deserve to be named the character of the month.

Q: if you can change one thing about you, what would it be?
