Public Character of the Month - March 2025 Edition - Nominations!

Hey folks!

It is already heading towards the end of March, I swear I am never prepared for it being the end of the month every time I do these! Hahaha!

However, I wanted to get the nominations going for the next Character of the Month and see who will be joining the ranks of all our previous winners! Super interesting to see what threads have been going on this month and what exciting developments have been happening! So please keep to the rules when nominating and remember failing to do so will mean your nominations are discounted.

I really try to make sure every nomination is added but you guys gotta keep with the rules as well.

Rules are as following:

  • Nominate a character that is not of your writing that has impressed you in the last month.
  • Give the reasons why.
    • Please include thread links for others to see why you love the character so much.
  • You may nominate someone that has already been nominated, they will be listed once in the voting stage and the reasons combined into one.
  • This is for In Character stuff.
  • During the nomination step, you must ask the winner a question for your nomination to count. Yes, that means in this thread, along with the nomination also put a question for the eventual winner, ya scamp.
  • During the voting, please limit yourselves to one vote.
  • Character must have been active in the last month to qualify, would be great if you would keep it to the last months exploits too.
  • Characters can only win once.
  • Please do not nominate Staff.
  • One week to nominate. Approximately.

* Character may not reign as Character of the Month for an exact month. You will live.

Looking forward to all the nominations and seeing what awesome threads and interactions everyone has been getting up to this month!

I am going to have to throw my vote to Laphisto Laphisto the big dragon man has been a constant friend and ally both IC and OOC and has appeared in nearly all the Diarchy threads.

It's hard to pick just one thing about Laph that impresses me and only one thread of exploits to nominate him on but I have a list

  1. Being one of Reign's besties and first allies and the Light to his Dark
  2. almost EVERY thread they step outside of Bastion together they are getting shot at
  3. We are in the process of getting in a bar fight (I need to post to this one)
  4. Laph always acts as a level headed counselor and has acted on Reign's behalf in negotiations/armed conflict
My question for the winner - Do you have a planned story for your character, as in start to end, knowing how they may die even?

Voting for Jorus Q. Merrill Jorus Q. Merrill . Not always is it great to see the writer back, there's a lot of imagery in his posts that pack a punch, all without being overly long. That's a skill.

Threads : X and X

Question : If you could go back to the beginning of writing your character, what is the one thing you would have done differently?
I would like to second this nomination of Jorus Q. Merrill Jorus Q. Merrill . Writing with my old friend and having him throw the death of Jorus at me the way he did was not only surprising, but so well done. I cannot recommend him more highly.

Question: What was the inspiration for your character?

COTM is one of my favorite things about chaos and yet I don't nominate nearly often as I should so here goes!

I'd like to nominate one of Blade Ice Blade Ice 's characters again, specifically Mystra Midnight Mystra Midnight !

I've only read about this character very recently and she's already one of my favorites. She scratches that super mysterious space witch vibe that any good dathomiri should but in a way that I'm not quite used to but is a pleasure to read. The opening stages of our ongoing duel thread inside her creepy manor house is straight out of a dark fantasy novel like the witcher and has me on the edge of my seat even just from the opening conversation, as did her meeting with a dark jedi on manaan, and I love this character can so easily dissect and read a character's personality so naturally, everything just flows right. And under all this is her strange love hate relationship with her "god" and maker Tegan Starfall Tegan Starfall .

Question for the winner: what are your most prominent or favorite inspirations behind the themes and vibe of your character's story?

I’d like to nominate Michael Angellus Michael Angellus

Since his creation I feel like he’s been crafting a story that is interesting to read and also incorporates others into the story well. His use of a journal mechanic inside threads is interesting and has been fun to watch develop.

Question:
Where did you get the inspiration for your characters lightsaber (both design and blade color)?

I'd like to second the nomination of Laphisto Laphisto but specifically his character Joran Kael Joran Kael

This character takes a very neutral stance in his news deliveries - focusing on possibly the whole picture instead of just skewed perceptions. Bias does not feature on the news updates, as all angles are inspected around the situation. It also keeps us up to date with what is going on in the Galaxy.

The news deliveries are spot on, well done Sir!

Question: chicken or beef?
