PHYSICAL INFORMATION
Age: Charlotte was in her twenties when she was processed. How old she actually looks varies, depending on the shape she has assumed.
Model: ARD X-2a Chameleon Droid.
Appearance: Charlotte's outward appearance varies based on the mission profile. Strictly speaking, she can imitate any human or humanoid of the same shape pr height. She can switch gender at will, form hair, lekku, fur, scars, birthmarks or other attributes that are required to blend in. In actual fact, her body is composed of High strength polymers, droid components, and the Mimetic Hydragyum covering that enables her to shift. When not on a mission, she tends to assume the shape of a tall, attractive human female who acts as an aide for Enyo. Only the Cyborg's inner circle are aware of her true nature.
SOCIAL INFORMATION
Name: Charlotte Kempka
Loyalties: Archangel Research and Design, Iron Fist Consortium, Revenant Industries, Typhos Clone Family, Enyo Typhos, Tess Tanner, Special Surveillance Teams.
Notable Equipment: Charlotte has recently manifested the odd habit of collecting mementos from people she's impersonated. None of these items are earth-shaking. These tokens are all neatly lined up on a shelf, in the alphabetical order of her victims' names. She has access to a Mirage Personal Cloaking Device and a suit of Blackhide Armour. Owns an Echani vibrosword. She owns an AE-AS1 Ghostsuit and an MN-B Infiltrator suit. The MB-B is often worn in combination with an SH-N Projection helmet as well as street clothes to provide her some protection while appearing non-threatening, allowing her to blend in. She often carries an MSD-32 and a Tir Stunner.
Skills: Charlotte is an excellent infiltrator. Her particular droid model enables her to shapeshift. She can change shape to assume any form of about equal height and mass. Combined with her highly sophisticated programming and ability to simulate emotions, she excels at blending in. Needless to say she is great at disguises. That aside, she is a talented poisoner, slicer and assassin. The human Charlotte was studying to become a doctor, and her mechanical self has retained her interest in medicine, though she may use it for darker purposes now. She has the knowledge to carry out simple as well as complex surgeries and supervise medical droids. Her impressive knowledge of organic biology and anatomy also makes her a good torturer. Charlotte has been involved in the creation of bioweapons secretly manufacutred by Archangel, such as S1337.
Personality: The human Charlotte had aspirations, dreams and family. The replicant has duties she carries out with inhumane, merciless precision. Morality is not something she has been programmed for. She is efficient, ruthless, deceptive and a good socialiser. Charlotte is an expert infiltrator, able to move with grace, blend into a crowd and adapt quickly. With a friendly smile, an empathic attitude and a good sense of humour, she can easily become someone's friend...if the mission demands that she get close to someone.
However, it is all a lie. She can be an attentive waitress, a medical doctor, a courtesan, a hardened, gruff mercenary - but it is all a simulation.Though the human Charlotte is dead, the replicant has inherited a good portion of her personality and channels it at times. The same applies to her extensive medical knowledge, which makes Charlotte a good surgeon...or torturer. One trait her human self and the replicant share is an interest in the medical sciences. It helps that she does not need to sleep, and can memorise entire journals. Rather than speak in a dull monotone, she uses her more human tone even outside of infiltration scenarios. Likewise, she smiles and uses other organic expressions and gestures. Despite her seemingly humane characteristics, she remains a machine following her programming, and such often acts in a way that would be considered cold-blooded or callous.
Sadism is alien to her. She is not cruel, she is efficient. Once an organic has become a problem, there is no point in keeping them alive, unless they can be used as a tool or processed. Being a droid, he does not eat, sleep or tire, beyond requiring a one-hour period to recharge and download updates. Her programming dictates that she obey her Controller without question. Presently, that Controller happens to be Enyo Typhos. As an HRD, she is able to store massive amounts of information and analyse them at a rapid pace. In addition, her vocabulator is capable of mimicking any known voice and speaking several thousand languages.
Weapon of Choice: Slicing, ranged weapons such as blaster and slugthrower pistols, as well as blades, poison and explosives. Her greatest weapon are her powers of deception and shapeshifting.
Combat Function: While Charlotte's primary skills lie in infiltration and subversion, she is able to engage in combat should the need arise, using her enhanced strength, speed and resilience. Her skills as an infiltrator also make her a good assassin and she is a very capable sniper, favouring Verpine sniper rifles. In addition, she is proficient in the use of bladed and ranged weapons in general. As a Chameleon droid, she can change her appearance to match any human or humanoid of the same shape or height. She can realistically form either gender, hair, fur, lekku or any other feature required in order to blend in. She's skilled at stealth, making her ideal for clandestine operations.
With a droid skeleton underneath the liquid metal, the HRD has superior strength to a human, does not feel pain and does not get tired. She is naturally programmed and able to blend in with crowds. She can act like any humanoid depending on the situation. Furthermore, the liquid metal provides protection from blasters and slugthrowers hitting the skeleton beneath. Even though attacks will evaporate the liquid metal it provides an important buffer. Finally, the liquid metal can be formed into blades or other stabbing weapons along the hands. Combined with the strength of the unit it allows it to form effective melee attacks against unarmoured opponents.
However, she also has notable weaknesses. Like every droid, she is vulnerable to ion weapons. An ion or electrical attack can also cause the liquid metal to deform and flow off it if it interferes with the shape shifting circuits. Moreover, compared to her sturdier, more combat-based brethren, she is a glass cannon and not built for prolonged, severe combat. Due to her polymeler skeleton and liquid metal she is stronger than a human, but not vastly so. Bottom line, if she is cornered and outnumbered, it is best for her to retreat. Lightsabres will cut through her body like a hot knife through button. She can also be quickly disabled by heavy weapons, such as explosives, rotary cannons, bolters and so on. Though she can create clothes, hair and skin from the liquid metal, it is not quite right. Hair and clothes especially feel off, and of course clothes created this way cannot be removed.
Strengths:
- Charlotte is a shapeshifter. Her HRD model can change its appearance to match any human or humanoid of the same height and weight. It can realistically form either gender, hair, fur, lekku or any other feature required in order to blend in. Moreover, she has highly sophisticated infiltration protocols, enabling her to blend in with crowds and pass as any humanoid being.
- With a droid skeleton underneath the liquid metal, she has greater strength than a human, does not feel pain and does not get tired. She is an expert combatant, spy and assassin. She can be a sniper, poisoner or a lethal melee fighter.
- he liquid metal provides protection from blasters and slugthrowers hitting the skeleton beneath. Even though attacks will evaporate the liquid metal it provides an important buffer. The liquid metal can also form short blades as improvised melee weapons.
- Charlotte is a droid and thus susceptible to ion weapons are its bane. An ion or electrical blast may also cause the liquid metal to deform and flow off the droid if it interferes with the shape shifting circuits.
- Her model of droid is tough and strong, but more geared towards infiltration than pitched combat. Her polymer skeleton and liquid metal means that while she is stronger than a human, it is not vastly so. Her body also lacks special protection against lightsabres.
- Though the droid can create clothes, hair and skin from its liquid metal it’s not quite right. Hair and clothes especially feel off, and of course clothes created in this way cannot be removed.
As with many HRDs produced by Archangel, one has to essentially speak of two people - the human and the replicant. The original Charlotte Kempka was a normal and rather ordinary woman living on Fondor. Her parents were lower class, but through thrift and hard work, Charlotte managed to work her way up and escape the poverty they lived in. Eventually, she won a scholarship and went to university. She studied medicine, did well in her studies and had bright dreams of the future.
Alas, these were cut short. Not by war, not by her family's debts and criminal entanglements, but by sickness. She was diagnosed with Quannot's Syndrome, a debilitating and ultimately fatal disease that caused great pain to its victims. While the pain it caused could be held at bay with painkillers, there was no cure. Desperately, she tried to power through and go on, but she grew frailer with each day. Alas, science failed her. Moreover, she accumulated significant medical bills. With no cure in sight, a friendly doctor kindly informed her that she could apply for euthanasia.
Then she was offered a new lease of life - or so it seemed. Her benefactor introduced herself as the representative of a medical corporation and said that they had developed an experimental procedure that, while very dangerous, might be able to save her life. Desperate and increasingly isolated, Charlotte signed up for the procedure. Her family was reluctant, but they were experiencing problems of their own. The enigmatic visitor was nice enough to help them with their debts. They would assuredly see their daughter again, once she had been cured.
And so Charlotte was delivered to Archangel Research and Design. She would be freed from the disease that was killing her, in a manner of speaking at any rate. Using the sophisticated technology at its disposal, Archangel processed her into an Humanoid Replica Droid. Her mind became the template for a replicant. The new Charlotte was free of organic weaknesses, such as a frail body that would tire, age and get sick. The same applied to ethical constraints such as the Hippocratic Oath. She became an Archangel operative and was endowed with the body of an infiltration droid, which was eventually replaced by the superior Chameleon model.
Charlotte served her mechanical masters as an infiltrator, spy and occasional assassin for many years. One of the worlds she operated on was Kaeshana after it was devastated by an asteroid collision, before the Galactic Alliance and the First Order clashed upon the desolate wasteland. She put her infiltration skills and the background of her human self to good use by setting up a 'humanitarian enclave', which offered food, shelter and medical assistance to those in need.
Presenting herself as a humanitarian while playing off the Eldorai warlords that vied for control, she was able to ensure that Archangel reaped a bountiful harvest. Once critical mass had been reached, the droids struck. Though meeting unexpectedly stiff resistance from Dark Eldorai and their ally Naamah Aesham, they were able to abduct many Eldorai for processing. Her human self would have been repulsed, but Charlotte no longer had the capacity for that. Similar operations followed on other war-torn or impoverished worlds, such as Contruum and Nar Shaddaa. For a while, she impersonated the favourite courtesan of an Onderonian noble, enabling her to get close to her target, win his confidence and then eliminate him, so that his place could be taken by his more compliant son. After an Archangel strike force led by Enyo Typhos captured a bunch of Thakwaash during the First Order's takeover of Thakwaa, she carried out a series of experiments on the strange aliens, aiming to understand how their strange minds worked.
Then much later Enyo and Amara Zarides, Archangel's two Force clones, went rogue. Charlotte was one of the Archangel operatives who played an active role in the bioterrorism attack on Pergitor, being responsible for the release of a zombie virus in gasuous form on the metro. As the virus spread through three of the inhospitable planet's sealed cities, she stirred up trouble amongst the ranks of the Church of Infinite Perception, encouraging militants to blame the outbreak on aliens. While the Outer Rim Coalition enacted a quarantine to contain the outbreak, she managed to flee. However, during an operation on Contruum, an Archangel outpost was attacked by an unusually well-organised band of vigilantes. Their leader happened to be the vengeful shapeshifter Naamah, who had learned many of Archangel's secrets from her brief alliance with Amara. One of the attackers happened to be Charlotte's older brother, who, unlike the rest of his family, had tried to find out what had happened to his sister and ended up becoming a vigilante. When she encountered him, he did not recognise her. Charlotte wounded him, but was distracted for just a moment. This cost her.
The HRD was disabled and captured during the fight. Taken to the vigilante's mobile base, she was supposed to be reprogrammed so that they could acquire information. However, though she no longer wore the same face, she managed to get through to her brother by relaying childhood memories. He was fooled into thinking that she had been trapped inside a mechanical shell but that being disabled had allowed her to break her conditioning. So he lowered his guard - and she cut his throat. Then she assumed his guise and made her escape. She ended up duelling Naamah, who was not easily fooled and had a lightsabre. Though significantly damaged during the fight, Charlotte managed to hijack an escape pod and flee. She began to manifest a problematic inclination towards individualism, as far as Archangel was concerned. Moreover, she showed signs of questioning the machine's cults plans. So she was shut down and reprogrammed to make her more obedient.
She soon became embroiled in what is popularly called the Incursion Event. It was a truly strange one. On a basic level, Archangel had become aware of a shadowy organisation that called itself the Contingency. So when droids suddenly started running amok on several planets, Archangel took notice. After all, a robo-apocalypse was supposed to be their thing. Charlotte was one of the agents dispatched to investigate. She learned that they could manipulate machines to do their bidding and rumours of Force-using droids led her to conclude they might be Shards. However, the Contingency rebuffed offers of an alliance, for they demanded submission. The boisterous attitudes of one of their agents, Sapphire, led Charlotte to conclude that their takeover would fail.
She turned out to be right. Unfortunately, Archangel would suffer a tremendous blow first. Returning to Archangel's secret base, she was just in time for the joint attack of the Contingency and the Iron Fist Consortium, Enyo's private paramilitary force. The base was razed, and Maelion Liates, one of Archangel's two directors, was apparently destroyed by Enyo in a duel. Charlotte fought in the battle, but was in the end defeated. Seeing her utility, Enyo decided to reactivate her after altering her programming. Her low opinion of the Contingency remained. However, she was not present for the rather strange events that transpired in the Tartarus system. Instead, she helped acclimate the clone posse Enyo and Amara had liberated from Archangel's clutches. She got on particularly well with Chiyoko and Valerian, clones of Sumiko Tanaka and Darth Shadow. Enyo reacted in a moderately irritable way, lecturing her younger siblings about the fact that their caretaker was still a murderous machine.
When Enyo decided to expand the Consortium's operations to Vorzyd, Charlotte accompanied her. After subjugating some street gangs, the Iron Fist launched an attack on a casino owned by a Hutt group. The supposed leader, Bogo the Hutt, had only appeared in hologram for a long time, following the conclusion of a war between the mafias. There was a suspicion that he might be dead. Conveniently, the casino was frequnted by the group's bigwigs. Impersonating a waitress, Charlotte managed to infiltrate the casino. Then she proceeded to murder and seduce a high-ranking officer.
While Maris Fero used her infiltration skills to sabotage the control room and open a gate for Enyo and her minions, Charlotte helped throw their defences into disarray by passing on false information to the mafia's 'Vizier', Bogo's Chevin adviser and secret puppeteer. Ultimately, she discovered that Bogo was no longer among the living, and that his continued rule over the organisation was just a charade, though the rank and file and some of his lieutenants were unaware of the deception. Infiltrating the secret chamber from where the transmissions were being made, she took control and helped Enyo cow the cartel's lieutenants by faking a broadcast of the Hutt, who denounced the Vizier and his co-conspirators as traitors. Charlotte continues to serve Enyo in the present.
