- Anti-Reflection: The bolts fired by the turbolaser are encased in a relatively weak electromagnetic field by design. While this prevents the bolts from maintaining integrity over extreme ranges, it allows the bolts to immediately destabilize upon impact, yielding an explosion in the process that prevents reflection by Xythan Force and similar reactive shielding technologies.
- Accurate: The turbolaser is very accurate, due largely to an advanced recoil delay module that prevents the manifestation of recoil until after the bolts leave the barrel, in addition to a number of other accuracy-enhancing systems.
- Firepower: Enhanced by agrocite, the turbolaser is an extremely capable corvette and frigate-killer and can bring a frightening degree of firepower to bear in virtually any engagement in the modern battlespace.
- EMP/Ion Overload: EMP and Ion discharges with a large enough power quotient can overload the turbolaser’s systems and defenses, rendering it unable to fire for some time.
- Limited Traversal/Fixed-Forward: Although formally classified as a light turbolaser, when installed on a small craft it is essentially a fixed-forward weapon, possessing an extremely limited traversal that is only capable of executing minute horizontal adjustments. In essence, the craft must be pointed at the target in order to successfully aim the weapon.
- Shock Absorption: The TXA Slasher’s shock absorption system is a critical component of the weapon, because of its role in absorbing the force of the turbolaser’s recoil. In the event that it sustains damage, firing the weapon may damage the host craft, potentially triggering a deadly cascade of system failures.
- Heat Overload: While the TXA Slasher has a very high rate of fire, sustaining that rate of fire over an extended period can result in overheating due to the use of agrocite to enhance the power output of the weapon. Breaking the limits of the continuous cooling system and the heat sinks via unrestrained fire will force the system to execute an emergency heat discharge protocol, during which the weapon can not be discharged.
An upgraded variant of the standard turbolaser fitted onto the TIE/HF Slasher, the weapon was originally manufactured by Technoid Manufactorum and built into a TIE/HF Slasher that was issued to Chasianna. Upon receiving her fighter, Chasianna and her technicians quickly set about modifying it, including the turbolasers which are built into the craft. Of all the modifications fitted to the TXA Slasher, the most significant was the installation of agrocite focusing crystals and advanced actuating modules to bolster the weapon’s power and range, albeit at the cost of slightly more recoil. This necessitated the installation of a more advanced shock absorption system, in order to stave off the potentially deleterious effects of the weapon's recoil on the craft’s overall integrity. Secondary upgrades to the turbolasers rate of fire were integrated as well, due to the inclusion of sleg ultracapacitor banks which were capable of supporting a more demanding power draw.
All in all, the upgrades to the turbolasers on Chasianna’s craft reaffirms their role as a high-powered pseudo-sniping weapon and a potential frigate-killer, at minimal cost to their reliability.
