Private Chasing Shadows

Coruscant
Underworld

Valery Noble Valery Noble

There were some places that people were never meant to tread. You would much about Nar Shaddaa, Tattooine....

The underworld was a place that was hardly spoke of, you could wonder why that was. Why would anyone of any sort of decent standing be lurking in depths of this place? What could one hope to accomplish here, except thrive on the chaos and misery...…

And thrive on the darkness, a place that hardly saw any light. It had been a very long time since the Jedi Master was here lurking the streets. In truth he hadn't been to Coruscant in a incredibly long time. That was until he learned that his enemies adopted a small stronghold of sorts here. He wasn't entirely sure how many of them were here. But even if it was just one, that was more than enough. Kahne had been on the defense for too long, concerned more so about the protection of his family.

Now that his family was well hidden, it was time for this menace to face the Jedi's light.

Rain fell lightly from above, creeping down into the underworld. The Jedi Master was cloaked well, as he moved amongst the shadows. He took a stairway leading down to another level, that led to a long walkway ahead. A small sign could be seen from afar, a tavern in the distance. He could see several individuals moving in and out and a regular pace. And based on their ability to walk, some of them were drunk.

If this was the particular tavern mentioned to him based on the intelligence given to him by a colleague. The location would be close by.....

The Jedi Master walked forward slowly, hands behind his back. He was essentially advertising his nature with the force outward, if they were nearby they would pick up on it. He knew how they worked, they wouldn't run they would fight to the death.

And he was ready.

While the force worked in mysterious ways, this he new. What he wouldn't expect was the force to send him help.

The faint feeling of a lightsaber hilt against her belt was a comfort Valery didn't consciously acknowledge as she descended into the same depths of Coruscant's underworld. The rain slicked her dark jumpsuit, the droplets tracing faint patterns over the fabric before falling away into the dimly lit pathways below. The oppressive weight of the underworld was a familiar pressure, one she'd endured many times as a Jedi Shadow.

But tonight felt different.

A ripple in the Force had drawn her here, an almost palpable thread of light woven into the overwhelming darkness. It was out of place in these depths, a beacon that called to her even as it announced itself boldly to those who might seek to extinguish it.

Amber eyes scanned her surroundings as she moved with deliberate care, her senses extending outward to touch the minds and presences around her. She felt the usual chaos of the underworld's inhabitants — desperation, greed, anger. But there, just ahead, a stark calmness, a controlled presence that felt at once familiar and foreign.

She emerged onto the walkway just as a cloaked figure came into view. His steps were measured, his posture relaxed, yet there was no mistaking the power radiating from him. Valery paused briefly, observing.

"You're hard to miss," she said, her voice carrying a quiet strength as it echoed faintly against the narrow walls. Her tone wasn't accusing, but there was a subtle edge of curiosity. "Advertising your presence so openly down here... Are you looking for trouble or inviting it?"

"You're hard to miss,"

The Jedi Master came to a halt, noting the voice that graced his ears. "I'm glad its working." The Jedi said as he looked in the direction of where the voice came from. However Kahne already knew who it was. There was not mistaken that voice and the commanding presence that reverberated from her. The Grandmaster of the New Jedi Order......

Never had the pleasure of meeting but he heard of her far and wide across the Alliance worlds. "I wasn't planning on reeling in the GM of the Jedi Order though." Kahne gave a small smile and bowed his head respectfully to the Grand Master.

"It's a pleasure to meet you, Valery Noble Valery Noble ." Kahne glanced around nonchalantly before speaking. "I just wish the timing was better."

"As for your question, a bit of both."
Kahne glanced around as a small familiar cold feeling swept through the area, cold that cut to the bone. However had no reaction from the Jedi Master as he glanced around, a small fog creeping through. Then the darkness came, the wave of darkness pulsating through the area.

Enough to send those with the weakest of wills running in fear. Then out of the fog they came from the opposite end of the walkway. One at first, then three followed.

Red blades appeared from their hilts. "Stand aside, woman. We only seek one life today." The leader of the pack spoke towards Valery in menacing tone.

Kahne smirked as his hilt flew to his hand and the blue blade ignited.

"Come and get it....." The Jedi Master spoke as they slowly began their advance.

Valery's amber eyes flicked to the red blades igniting in the fog, their crimson light cutting through the oppressive darkness of the underworld. The wave of malevolent energy that accompanied their appearance rolled over her like an icy wind, but she stood firm, unshaken. If anything, the challenge ahead only sharpened her focus and steeled her resolve.

As the leader of the Sith spoke, her gaze shifted to him, her expression calm yet resolute. "No, I don't think I will," she said as the Force began to swirl around her, her tone carrying a sharp edge of defiance.

The hilt of her lightsaber leapt into her hand with practiced ease, its violet blade springing to life with a sharp hiss. The glow illuminated her face, highlighting the fiery determination in her eyes as she stepped forward to position herself alongside Kahne.

"You're not taking any lives today," she continued, her voice steady and commanding. "If you think you can, you're welcome to try — but you won't get past us."

Her stance shifted slightly, lightsaber angled in a defensive posture, as she prepared for the inevitable attack. The Jedi Master at her side was someone she was only just meeting, but the weight of his presence in the Force was reassuring. Whatever trials lay ahead, she trusted they could face them together.

"Ready, Master Porte?" she asked, a hint of a smirk tugging at the corner of her lips as the tension in the air thickened. She didn't take her eyes off the advancing Sith, their predatory energy palpable as they closed in.

The lead Sith snarled, his grip tightening on his blade as he gestured for his allies to flank. The fog thickened, obscuring their movements slightly, but Valery's senses reached beyond sight, tracking their every step through the Force. As the first Sith lunged, his red blade slashing through the air, Valery moved with fluid precision, her saber intercepting his strike in a crackling collision of energy.

The violet blade pressed against the crimson one, holding firm as she locked eyes with her opponent.

He glanced towards the Grand Master, making her intentions known. The Jedi Master smiled and gave a small nod of appreciation. There would be more time for further introductions and thanks later. Right now, two warriors of light were standing together against the impending darkness. They would seek to hide, then strike out. Hiding amongst the fog and their own darkness looking to hide them.

Perhaps looking for a sneaking attack to end things quickly. But that wasn't going to happen.

Snarls of disgust and anger came from them at Valery Noble Valery Noble 's words. This is what they were, evil beings without a soul with one goal end mind. And that was to end his families line. Kahne was not going to allow that to happen.

"Ready, Master Porte?"

"Always, Master Noble." The Jedi Master gave her a nod and a quick glance as she moved forward to meet them. Kahne's sense on full alert as he in turn moved at her side and blue saber came up to meet another red blade that tried to come down against Valery. Blades clashed as Kahne pushed forward forcing one of them back several paces. It was then Kahne did a quick turn as he called upon the energies of the force and sent a strong force push towards that same opponent.

Valery smirked faintly at Kahne's response, her focus already razor-sharp as the battle began to unfold. The crackle of clashing sabers filled the air, the vibrant violet of her blade dancing with precision against the blood-red strikes of her opponent. The Sith before her snarled, pushing against her strength, but Valery was unwavering. With a swift twist of her wrist, she redirected his saber to the side and followed up with a sharp kick to his chest, sending him staggering back into the mist.

As Kahne's Force push sent another Sith flying, Valery adjusted her stance to account for the others circling in from the fog. She could feel their anger, their hatred burning like a furnace in the Force, but it was unfocused, chaotic — a sharp contrast to the calm strength she and Kahne exuded.

"Watch your flank," she called out to Kahne, her voice steady but loud enough to cut through the chaos. Another Sith lunged at her from the side, their blade coming in low, but Valery pivoted gracefully, her lightsaber arcing downward to meet the strike. Sparks flew as the blades collided, the impact lighting up her determined features.

The Sith pressed forward, snarling as he tried to overpower her with brute strength, but Valery flowed around him like water. With a quick step to the side and a pivot of her hips, she slashed upward, forcing her opponent to disengage and stumble back into the shadows.

Her amber eyes flicked toward Kahne briefly, noting his fluid movements and the confidence in his strikes. The two Jedi Masters moved as if they had been fighting side by side for years, their synergy unspoken but undeniable.

Anger so apparent now, was truly their downfall.

"Watch your flank,"

It had been some time since he had seen one such as Valery Noble Valery Noble move with such precision and immaculate footwork. He felt the connection between the two, a camaraderie that was strong. Which was indeed strange as this was their first meeting. The force did work in mysterious ways....

Moving as essentially one unit, forcing the Sith back, retreating into the shadows. It seemed every time they were ushered out, they met strong blades and indomitable will. The strength of the lightside flowed strong with the two Jedi, and in their calm circle, amongst the chaos around them. They were undisturbed by its winds.

A downward attack came, and the Jedi Master met it's blade with his own, the clash sending a tiny jet of sparks. Kahne force his blade to the side and his hand came forward again, sending an open palm right to the center of the Sith's chest once more. Not just applying his physical strength, but with aid of the force sending him back once more.

When would they learn?

Unfortunately they wouldn't.....

Only death would release them, or else they would forever be hunting down his family.

"Behind you." The Jedi Master said stoicly as he quickly turned calling on the force to hold the Sith in place, before he could strike against the Grand Master.

Kahne's hand closed into a fist, as it did so, the armor of dark warrior began to crack and break apart. Slivers of light could be seen lining the cracks that were formed as the armor was rendered obsolete. It would leave an opening for the Grand Master to strike.

Valery reacted instantly to Kahne's warning, her connection to the Force sharp and honed. The faint disturbance behind her blossomed into clarity as the Sith closed in, but before the strike could land, Kahne's mastery of the Force halted the attacker mid-motion. Valery spun on her heel, her violet blade arcing in a controlled, lethal strike that severed the Sith's weapon arm in one clean motion.

The armored figure staggered, their scream of pain cut short as their shattered armor radiated light from the cracks Kahne had created. Valery wasted no time — with a precise thrust, her lightsaber pierced through the Sith's chest, ending their struggle in a flash of brilliance that illuminated the mist around them.

She turned to Kahne, her breath steady despite the intensity of the battle, and offered him a faint, approving smirk. "Good timing," she said, her tone a blend of respect and focus.

The mist around them began to shift, darkened by the presence of more Sith waiting just beyond their immediate reach. Valery's amber eyes scanned the surroundings, sensing the malice building in the shadows. The Sith were regrouping, their chaotic energy growing more unified as they prepared another assault.

"We need to keep pushing," Valery said, her voice steady but carrying an edge of urgency. "They'll overwhelm us if they find a way to coordinate. Let's not give them the chance."

Her lightsaber hummed at her side as she advanced, her movements fluid and deliberate. With Kahne at her side, Valery felt the strength of their combined presence in the Force — a beacon of light cutting through the oppressive darkness. Together, they moved as one, driving deeper into the fog and toward the source of this dark tide.

Whatever awaited them, Valery trusted their unity would be enough to prevail.
