I recall shooting the the last monarch who thought he had power over me. He begged quite a lot at the end. It was anticlimactic.

Akio, I remember that one time where we glassed a planet!

Oh, it was. I had a terrible headache afterwards though. So much noise.

Hmm. We probably could've foregone the bombardment and just conquered the planet. Wiping all life out was a bit of a waste of resources.

Undoubtedly. And in a Galaxy of a million planets, the loss of one is like a grain of salt.

Nonetheless, seizing their capital would've had brilliant propaganda value. Especially if all the local bigwigs appeared on the HoloNet to publicly renounce their past affiliations and beg forgiveness!

No doubt a great number of people would've been shot regardless. But out of 2 billion people, enough would've remained to perform useful work.

But then hindsight's 20/20!

Possible case studies: Taris (or Malak's Folly), Alderaan 1 and 2 and moon drop on Taris.

After all it says in the programme of the ruling Galactic Republican Party that it supports "expansion of the Galactic Republic via all means necessary."
