ADVANCED SYSTEMS
Strengths:
  • A vessel designed to avoid - and evade - as many sensors, scans and detection methods as possible for optimal Chiss Commando operations.
  • Boasts a swath of technologies focused on stealth ship operation and function, from near-undetectable flight and anti-sensor coatings to adjusting gravitational mass to avoid mass detectors used against cloaking devices.
  • The Vanish 2 Military Sensor Masking System has been modernized by Chiss engineers, and is considered an excellent alternative for stealth ships lacking a cloaking device.
  • Individually articulating landing claws allow for safe landing on basically any terrain, and also allow pilots to attach to vertical surfaces for unconventional landings.
Weaknesses:
  • A craft focused on stealth, favoring speed and evasion over attack capabilities; has minimal cannons and a single warhead launcher.
  • The Chiss Hyperdrive navicomputer systems are susceptible to interdiction effects.
  • Vessel speed can be a factor in detection, anything quicker than cruising speed runs high risk of voiding engine stealth cover.
  • While highly capable as a stealth vessel on a sensor and detection level, it does not use a cloaking device, and can be visually seen where sensors may fail.
  • Limited range and damage capability with main turret weaponry, lacking punch to damage hardier vessel classes or vehicles.
  • A very expensive vessel manufacturing cost.
Description:
The Chiss Commando Transport is a highly guarded secret within the Chiss Ascendancy, and primarily serves as a stealth vessel that supports commando operations. Its size and layout allow for up to 16 individuals [full commando squad plus flight/support crew]. The likelihood of seeing this vessel in open combat is highly unlikely, instead the advanced stealth systems and components are better suited for avoiding conflict. Armed with an impressive array of sensor, targeting computer and communications avoidance/jamming equipment, its main strength is sneaking into and out of mission areas. And while lacking the punch of other ships, it has fast engines and a tough shielding system to ensure a relatively safe getaway.

Equipped with the new standards of the Chiss Ascendancy, including anti-sensor detecting and anti-targeting systems and baffling coating composites, the Commando Transport is a formidable stealth vessel capable of avoiding a lot of military-grade systems. The lack of a cloaking device allowed for other systems to be included, such as a single medical bunk that allows medics to operate on wounded soldiers en route to base, and also larger servos for the individually articulated landing claws. These landing claws allow for unprecedented landing capability, compensating for most terrain and also vertical attachment.

All in all, an advanced stealth vessel, designed to avoid numerous sensor and detection methods; though it's lack of firing power and no cloaking device mean pilots must be careful and aware of approach vectors.

Update log:
  • Removed hard numbers for hyperdrive speeds (x1.25 and x15)
  • Corrected weakness of interdiction effects to navicomputer systems, not physical hyperdrive itself
