Strengths:
Heavy Defenses: Like many classical mon calamari ships, the Circinus is designed to be highly resistant to damage by using a sturdy ferrocarbon frame, relatively thick Alusteel armor plating, and advanced shield generators.
Enhanced Point Defense: The Circinus's weapons loadout is exclusively focused on point defense weaponry, making it well suited to dealing with enemy starfighters and munitions.
Weaknesses:
Sluggish: The Circinus is relatively slow for its size because of it uses standard engines to propel a relatively heavy hull.
No Bite: The Circinus completely lacks any sort of anti-capital weaponry, making it reliant on other ships to fight against ships of its same size or larger.
Description: The Circinus-class Bulk Corvette is the first result of Lucerne Labs new collaborative efforts with the shipwrights of Hast. Designed to be the smaller and local equivalent of the famous bulk cruiser, the Circinus typically is used as a sturdy, armed cargo hauler. With a cargo capacity of 7,000 metric tons, it doesn't quite compare to dedicated cargo haulers like the Gallofree transport of CEC's line of bulk freighters, but it is a much more combat worthy design capable of standing up to the perils of outer rim piracy with its heavy defenses and enhanced point defenses. While Lucerne Labs has marketed the concept of making entire convoys of the ship to make it especially resilient to pirate attacks, most smaller companies mix them in with other designs and delegate additional defense duties to the Circinus. Like the bulk cruiser before it, however, it's hold frequently emptied to to serve as a hangar, allowing it to carry up to a squadron of starfighters. In this light escort carrier configuration, Circinus-class Bulk Corvettes frequently work as convoy guards, or as auxiliary vessels in large fleet battles.
