Fire suppression system: The VATOMS-MK1 has a halon firefighting system to automatically extinguish fires in the crew compartment. The engine compartment has a firefighting system that is engaged by pulling a T-handle located on the left side of the hull. The gas can be dangerous to the crew. However, the toxicity of gas at 7% concentration is much less than the combustion products produced by the fire in the crew compartment
Smart 140mm shells: Designed for a long-range, indirect fire top attack role against armored vehicles. The Smart 140mm carrier shell contains two submunitions with infrared sensor and millimeter-wave radar, which descend over the battlefield on ballutes and attack hardened targets with explosively formed penetrator warheads. Built with multiple redundant self-destruct mechanisms.

Phase | Picture | Description |
---|---|---|
1 | A Smart-140mm round is fired from a standard rifled 140mm artillery tube. | |
2 | The round flies on a ballistic arc, with a range of 27.5 kilometers (17.1 mi) | |
3 | Mid-flight a timer fuse ignites a small ejector rocket in the nose, which drags the two submunitions out of the shell casing. | |
4 | Once clear of the shell, the submunitions fall toward the target. The shell and the nose assembly fall away. | |
5 | The submunitions deploy parachutes, and independently corkscrew down over the subject area, scanning for targets. | |
6 | Once a submunition detects a target vehicle beneath it, it detonates its explosive payload. This creates a high-velocity explosively formed projectile which strikes the target vehicle from above, where the armor is relatively weak, for maximum effect. |
Turreted cuplink: Two separate gears that rest one on top of the other surrounded by pneumatic motors and hydraulic rams. These motors and Rams are Then connected to the gunners controls so that when he wishes to turn the turret it activates the motors and hydraulic rams to assist in turning the whole turret with the assistance of the gears. This process allows full 360 Turret rotation without the need to turn the entire walker itself.
Kenetic Servos: The original Walker design Left a lot to be desired as any quick moment or random log could cause the whole vehicle to topple over. So to rectify this problem The VATOMS MK1 Utilizes Gyrocoped stabilized legs with Hydraulic pumps located near the feet of the walker. These changes to the walker legs allow for extra stabilization with the added weight and all forms of terrain that could have caused the older walkers to stumble.
STRENGTHS
- This is a heavy tank killer - This weapon system was designed to be put Against heavy or main battle tanks, to kill other tanks and walkers. It will absolutely destroy and mess up any kind of armor you put against it, at the range, and can severely mess up everyone on the other side as well.
- 360 aiming: due to advances in both tank and walker design the turret is able to rotate 360 degrees
WEAKNESSES
- Glass cannon- due to making this vehicle a fast and agile tank destroyer and anti-air weapons platform was it gained in armament and speed/mobility it gave up a lot of defenses meaning one well placed shot from the main battle tank will shred this in no time.
- Low ammo: due to its weight problems the weapons platform is meant for hit and run or shock and awe missions due to low ammo capacity
Using the designs from the ATST weapons platform as a base design workers began work to improve upon the design for a highly mobile anti-air and anti Tank/walker Version of it with an optimal crew of four the gunner commander and loader sit in the cockpit while the secondary AA gunner sits in the modified Deimos Heavy Point Defense Rapid Fire Laser Cannon it a separate area of the cockpit (think B-17 ball turret). Due to mixing high-end firepower for both anti-vehicle/walker as well as anti-air the weapons platform was unable to be heavily armored. taking this into account and utilizing the full potential of the ATST bipedal system the traded heavy armor for high speed and mobility thus making it one of the most mobile anti-vehicle/air weapons platforms for CIS use.
