Strengths:
Built like a Brick: The Citadel-class is built with heavily reinforced frame and very thick hull plating. This further augmented by heavy deflector shields which are powered by energy that would typically be used by a starship's engines.
Weaknesses:
Slower than a Dewback: The Citadel-class is exceedingly slow for its small size, in large part because of the extensive mass for its size because of all of the armor plating. It has a relatively ion drive on its central axis that allows the station to provide some of its own propulsion in emergency situations, but it is usually moved by tugs.
Description: The Citadel-class Defense Station is designed to provide sizable worlds and other important static locations with a resilient defense platform. Thick armor plating and heavy shield generators help it withstand heavy enemy fire whiles its own array of heavy turbolasers, ion cannons, and mass driver cannons batter away with interlopers. However, because it is relatively immobile, it is best employed in conjunction with more mobile assets or other defenses.
The base structure of the Citadel is seven story hexagonal platform that houses the station's crew and basic systems, including a solar ionization reactors. Other notable locations include an infirmary, passenger accomodations for up to 1200 men, and a sizable cargo hold. At the center of this structure rises a 250 meter diameter biodome. Depending on the user's need, this biodome can contain a specific environment for environmental training purposes, general aesthetic or relaxation purposes like a park, or even to grow small amounts of plants or to raise animals. This base is ringed by rising ramparts on which most of the station's turbolasers are mounted. The smallest edges of the hexagon mount the heavy long-range quad turbolasers, while the longer sides each host a row of four heavy quad turbolasers. Three squat towers rise from these longer sides. Each tower contains a large solar ionization reactor that supplies power to its side of weaponry and defenses. These reactors produce a surplus amount of energy that is stored in capacitors in the central base. In the case of a reactor going offline, these capacitors can step into supply extra energy for a limited amount of time. The highest platform that sits astride these three towers is the hardened command post for the station. It also houses some of the station's other capital weaponry, as well as quarters for some of the station's staff. each of the three booms strutting out from the top platform hosts a pair of tractor beams that used to help maneuver ships to the station, move cargo containers to be taken aboard the ship, or to move asteroids and the like away from the station to prevent any collisions. The bottom side of the station contains docking hatches for a variety of starships and docking tethers for larger capital ships. It is also host to the station's hangar bay, which typically is filled with shuttles, light transports, and other support craft needed to keep the large station running.
