Description: Industrial Automaton fell on hard times during the Gulag Plague. Everyone wanted combat droids or protocol droids. No one wanted an astromech droid. It's only been recently that the long-time droid manufacturer gathered itself up to begin producing droids on the galactic market. Taking a safe bet, IA set out to make a new series of astromech droid. As part of the CL-line, the 4P-series represents an attempt to harken back to the wild success of the R2 line. Unfortunately, the long downturn in business meant that the 4P isn't as "modern" looking as IA would like. However, they hope to use the 4P as a stepping stone to build momentum back to the top.
The primary advantage the 4P has over many astromech droids comes in the form of two arms, complete with lower arm actuators and clamp-grip hands. This allows them to manipulate tools on a scale beyond traditional astromech droids, which rely on internal tool bays for use.
The only downside to the droid, besides its general appearance, is the quirky personality matrix that was used to make the droid, likely all that could be aforded by the aging droid manufacturer. The hope is that it will endear owners and motivate them to keep the droid and spread positive reviews of it.
