- Description:
To the Mandalorians and Concordians of Clan Vizsla, their unofficial motto was their way of life. Blood, and Iron [1.] These simple words wholly defined their bleak outlook towards an uncaring and chaotic galaxy. For those that bear the time-honoured Shriek-hawk as their signet embodied the duality of their martial culture. Some were fathers and commandos, whilst others were mothers and warriors. Yet, the scions of Clan Vizsla were killers all. Despite their outward and stereotypical techno-barbarism, the Mandalorians and Concordians of Clan Vizsla played host to a measure of complexity. Their reputation for being ruthless was well-earned through centuries of combat, but these wayward Sons and Daughters valued Family above all; whether it was through ties of blood or camaraderie. But, for every proud warrior that bore the Clan’s signet, there was another that embraced their creativity. For every artisan that took a chisel to blocks of marble, there was a commando that skulked behind enemy lines; wreaking havoc amongst their enemy’s lines. Thus, the variety that populates the ranks of the Clan were as varied as the stars themselves.

- Headquarters:
- Domain:
- Notable Assets:
- None Presently.
- Hierarchy: Mandalorians aren’t known for their love of complications, nor complex systems of governance. Therefore, the House of Clan Vizsla was as straightforward as could be. Every Clan was ruled by their Alor - Chieftain - and their commands were extended outwards by their most trusted Captain(s,) the Alor’ad. From there, regional variations would bleed into the structure, but Clan Vizsla prefers to keep things simple - you were blooded and sworn into the Clan, or you weren’t.
- Clan Hierarchy:
- Alor - Chieftain.
- Alor’ad - Captain.
- Talyc - Blooded.
- Dar’talyc - Non-Blooded.
- Foundling - Would-be Warrior(s.)
- Membership: Before the Splintering, House Vizsla was once considered one of the Largest of the Political Factions within the Mandalorian Empire, or the collective Clans. They once had Enclaves that stretched across dozens of worlds, with census numbers rising beyond the Thousands. That wasn’t even including the other Clans that formerly swore their allegiances to House Vizsla, being that of Clan(s) Wren and Saxon, alongside Clan Fett and Clan Echoy’la. To join the Clan, and the House as well, one would simply have to appeal to the reigning Alor for admittance. To showcase that their interests align with the direction of the Clan and that they have something worthwhile to offer - be it a talent or a much-needed resource. Another route for admittance was available but was more familial in nature - as the Would-be Vizsla could be adopted by one of the Blooded as either a Foundling or a Dar’talyc and initiated in their ways.
- Climate: Tempestuous - Mandalorian Houses, and even the Clans that compose them, house healthy levels of competition, caution and even distrust amongst their ranks. Such is the way of a martial culture, and nowhere is this more apparent than within the familial hierarchy of the House of Clan Vizsla. There is a sense of camaraderie amongst the Mandalorians who bear the Shriek-hawk Insignia, as they put their Family first, but even then - Sibling Rivalry sometimes pushes things into the extreme, and blades may be drawn.
- Reputation: Reviled and Distrusted - The actions of the House, and Clan Vizsla throughout recent history have left a sour taste on the tongues of their collective kindred. With Ra Vizsla’s Death Watch claiming victory over the Loyalists and re-establishing the Mandalorian Empire. Little were pleased with the introduction of the Purge; an act that began “curing” magicks from Would-be Sorcerers. From there, Ronan Vizsla - Alor of Clan Vizsla - refused to bend the knee to Yasha Mantis, of Clan Cadera as they laid claim to the title of Mand’alor, sparking the Red Coronation. The House and Clan thereafter, splintered, as Ronan took his supporters away from Mandalore and into the arms of the Sith. What elements of the Clan that didn’t become a part of the Ne’tra Fleet, the Ori’ramikad, or the Viz(s)la’s of Roon, elected to drift across the Outer Rim - doing whatever they could to survive. They became drifted back to the Mercenary roots; even going so far as to dabble in some Piracy from time to time - earning a lambasted reputation amongst those who’ve interacted with the remnants of House, and Clan Vizsla.

Please note that this is a "brief" summary of a storied Mandalorian Clan that's undergone many revisions since the mouse took over Star Wars.
The origins of the Clan known as Vizsla were shrouded in mysteries and legend. To make matters worse, the degradation brought about by the infectious calamity known as the Plague nearly snuffed out all recollection of their genesis. What remained behind were scattered tales of heroic and villainous figures that proudly bore the family name and the deeds that were etched into the very fabric of reality. The most notable of these figures was the Mandalorian named Tarre Vizsla. Little was known of this ancient figure before their time within the Jedi Order, but what was known - was that Tarre Vizsla was the artisan behind the Darksabre. This weapon was unique amongst the Lightsabres due to the pitch-black blade, cloaked in white coruscating lightning. This weapon would then assist Tarre Vizsla in leading his House through some unknown event that was lost to the pages of history.
What transpired after Tarre Vizsla claimed the throne of Mandalore and renounced their Jedi ties was unknown. Instead, this warrior’s legacy shifted away from their claim of Mand’alor and towards the weapon they crafted, as the Darksabre eventually became synonymous with the mantle of “Sole Ruler.” While considered a footnote in galactic history, the Darksabre was credited for the deaths of many Jedi during the tumultuous period known as the Jedi-Sith war of 1032 BBY. It was during this time that the Old Republic slowly declined in their power and was replaced by a new government under the same name; which was known as the Galactic Republic until the End of the Clone Wars some centuries later.
Whilst the Old Republic collapsed, there was a battle that transpired on Coruscant between the ailing elements of the interstellar government, the Jedi, and their opposition - the Sith. It was during this battle that some members of Clan Vizsla broke into the Jedi Fortress as it was being sacked and recovered their “stolen” heirloom from the vaults. It was a feat that allegedly went unrecorded, as the Mandalorians managed to return to their homeworld without issue. However, as the members of Clan Vizsla celebrated their victories, the Jedi found out about the theft and sought to bring vengeance to Mandalore’s doorstep. They feared what a symbol of a united Mandalore could bring to the galactic stage, as the Galaxy was still recovering from the Jedi-Sith war. The stars couldn’t endure the devastation of another one of Mandalore’s crusades.
And so began the Mandalorian-Jedi war. While there had been conflicts between the two sides before, it was after the fall of the Old Republic and the reinstallment of the Galactic Republic that this terrible clash took place. As the dust settled, the Jedi were proclaimed as the victors of the war and Mandalore suffered greatly in their defeat. It was through some unknown cataclysm during the final battle of the Mandalorian-Jedi war that the surface of the Mandalorian homeworld was scorched. With the once-rolling fields of grass turned into a vast ocean of white sand, the survivors of the conflict were forced to live within hermetically-sealed dome cities, as their planet was rendered uninhabitable. The people of this once mighty culture were deeply humiliated, so much so that many within Mandalorian society still held grudges against the Jedi until the rise of the New Order.
In the aftermath of that conflict, the warriors that survived the cataclysm and the brief civil war that erupted afterwards were exiled to the moon of Concordia. It was believed that they would live out the rest of their days on that orbiting moon and would eventually become extinct, leaving the New Mandalorians - who were diametrically opposed to the ancient martial traditions of their people - to reclaim their world and forge a new future for their people in the process. But, the spirit of defiance and survival were crucial foundations to the Mandalorian warriors. While the rest of the galaxy believed them to be extinct, they slowly began to thrive within the shadows. It wasn’t until years later, as the Clone Wars broke out, that these warriors would once again resurface.
It was here that many would run into conflicting accounts. There were articles and passages that detailed the struggles of Tor Vizsla and his radical followers against the True Mandalorians and their self-proclaimed Mandalore, Jaster Mereel. While other entries seemed to focus on the foundations of the Death Watch under a man named Pre Vizsla, who led the fight against the New Mandalorians for dominance over Mandalore. While the entries regarding Tor Vizsla still exist and were regarded as truth by portions of the Mandalorian people, a majority have chosen to believe in the tales of Pre Vizsla - as it painted the Death Watch, and the Clan thereafter, in a marginally better light. No self-respecting warrior would be pleased with seeing themselves as nothing more than an organized crime syndicate, with the muscle to back up their claims.
Better to be warriors and crusaders, like their ancestors.
Through the leadership of Pre Vizsla, the Death Watch eventually rose up to claim their ancestral homeworld from the New Mandalorians. Clan Vizsla and their House were the sole claimants to the throne, but as Pre Vizsla had used the one-time Sith Apprentice - Darth Maul - to secure his station, loose ends needed to be severed. In betraying Darth Maul, Pre Vizsla would be resoundingly beaten and struck down by the Sith Warrior, effectively beheading the head of the Clan and House thereafter. In the vacuum that resulted after Pre’s execution, the Death Watch was splintered, and Gar Saxon rose to prominence. Through his leadership, the House and Clan Vizsla bonded themselves to Maul in the hopes of retaining their newly acquired powerbase.
That parasitic relationship finally came to a head in the final weeks of the Clone Wars. As Maul began to plot and form his Shadow Collective, the people of Mandalore were left to the weak-minded guidance of Prime Minister Almec. What remained of House Vizsla and the Death Watch thereafter, those that refused to follow their comrade’s path helped found the Nite Owls under the leadership of Clan Kryze. The loyalist members of Clan Vizsla and Clan Wren formed the majority of the Nite Owls ranks. Through their united efforts with Clan Kryze, and a detachment of Clone Troopers from the 501st Legion, the Nite Owls besieged Mandalore. The Capital City was swiftly invaded by the coalition forces, and after days of gruelling urban warfare, the Nite Owls and the Galactic Republic were victorious.
Darth Maul was eventually captured in the aftermath of the conflict, and his fate during the rise of the New Order, remained unknown to those of Mandalore. In many ways, their shadowy ruler was forgotten and replaced by the treachery of Almec - who was executed in his cell by Gar Saxon. As the Galactic Republic fell and was subsequently replaced by the Galactic Empire, Gar Saxon - the self-proclaimed leader of House Vizsla - rose to power through means unknown. In allying himself to the new galactic regime, Gar ensured that Clan Saxon would become the sole rulers of the Mandalore sector. At least until the Darksabre was recovered by a youthful Mandalorian within Clan Wren. This (re)discovery led towards the eventual cessation of the Mandalorian sector from the Empire, as their brief Civil War ended in a victory for the Nite Owls and their respective Clans.
It was here, again, that accounts began to find themselves conflicting or incomplete. But, as historians began to piece together the history of Clan Vizsla, there is one thing that becomes apparent. To these martial people, there is no shortage of infighting, as factions sprouted within the ranks of the House and the Clan thereafter - all believing that their ways of life were the right way. Some believed in peace and wished for nothing more than to settle down and terraform their sundered world, whilst others believed that the old ways were the best method in how to guide their disparate people into the uncertainties of the future. That predilection for infighting was etched into the very fabric of the Clan in the centuries that followed the rise of the New Order. Clan Vizsla, and its various heads, often found themselves fighting with those who once stood at their sides as often as they battled the enemies of Mandalore.
Betrayal, mistrust, and blood were the governing aspects of Clan Vizsla as they entered the modern era. While the Pre-Plague accounts were often shrouded in misconceptions, half-truths and undocumented legends - what transpired after the light of civilization returned shaped the future of the Clan, and their fellow peoples of Mandalore. As the Clan politics took the side-stage, there was one who rose out from the ranks of Clan Vizsla to lead the disparate and divided peoples of Mandalore to prominence on the galactic stage once more. His name was Ra, of Clan Vizsla. Through his leadership and restoration of the Death Watch, Ra Vizsla led his followers through a tumultuous period of Civil War to (re)found the Mandalorian Empire. While some considered this to be an unpopular move, there were many that believed in the righteousness of their deeds.
Even when Ra Vizsla, the now self-proclaimed Mand’alor, decreed that the Force and those who wielded it’s power were to be “cured” of their affliction, there were some that devoutly believed this course was the correct one. Naturally, there were those that didn’t believe this path was right, but knowing better than to challenge their “Sole Ruler” those scattered remnants fled into the shadows - seeking comfort in the arms of other interstellar nations.
For a time, the Clan of Vizsla held a position of honour within the ranks of the Mandalorian Empire. They were the House and the Clan from whence their leader originated, and relished the status that such a truth bequeathed. But, that period of restoration and enjoyment soon collapsed as Ra Vizsla perished during the Omega War. Clan Vizsla was no longer considered to be the top dog. From this brief period a power vacuum erupted, where every Clan sought to vie for the Throne, Clan Vizsla was thrown to the side in favour of the newly returned Chieftain of Clan Cadera. As the Clans began to accept this former child as their sovereign, the Head of House Vizsla confronted this newly crowned Mand’alor in their throneworld. What happened next broke Clan Vizsla, and the House thereafter.
The Red Coronation was a stain on the reign of the Cadera Mand’alor, as they swore to unite the clans under a single banner once again and lead the Empire into a brighter future. Yet, through the actions of a single wrist-rocket and a suicide vest, that dream of a prosperous Empire was reduced to ashes. Clan Vizsla suffered greatly after the events of the Red Coronation, as they refused to bow down to a former child-turned-woman by the time dilation of the Netherworld. This Cadera was untested and unblooded, so it was only right to challenge her claim to the throne. But, after a beloved daughter was slain, the Chieftain of Clan Vizsla elected to take his people into exile - swearing to one day bring down the Mandalorian Empire and their weak Mand’alor that held the throne.
From here, the once noble House splintered. Not every member of Clan Vizsla, nor the House thereafter, agreed with their Chieftain. Some remained at the Mand’alor’s side, whilst others ventured off on their own - choosing to walk the Path of the Wanderer. The House splintered once again, months after the Red Coronation, as the Chieftain elected to swear their blades to the burgeoning Sith Empire. While his purpose was to safeguard his people from retribution and rebuild themselves before taking the fight back to Mandalore, the Chieftain had effectively signed a deal with the devil. There were those that couldn’t abide by standing side-by-side with the very Sith who they had warred against mere decades prior. Thus, the House of Vizsla was wholly fractured, and the Clan itself was scattered amongst the stars.
Some sought to rebuild their once noble Clan, and their mighty House thereafter, but their efforts would be demonized by those who cited their claims as nothing but falsehood or condemned them as pretenders. None, save the strongest amongst their number, could truly be worthy of the legacy that Tarre and his myriad descendants left behind. And so, as another splintered faction of Clan rose from the ashes, bearing the ancient symbols of the Clan and the Death Watch, another contender for the sole master of Clan Vizsla’s fate entered the proverbial ring. Through Blood and Iron, they would be tested, and through their determination - they would reunite the Clan beneath their ancestral sigil.
One day, all of the disparate sons and daughters of Clan Vizsla would stand beneath the Jai'galaar, or Shriek-hawk in the common tongue.
